Director Duane Hopkins started work on this film while making his first feature film Better Things. The starting point was the question 'Is morality a luxury?'.
This film was shot in and around Newcastle and Gateshead, where production company Third Films is based.
Director Duane Hopkins encouraged George Mackay to spend time doing the things Tim would do often: handling money, riding his bike (even getting off and on it quickly), unzipping the bag he worked from.
George Mackay lost weight specifically for the role.
