Actress-turned-director Lea Lexis cut her teeth (so to speak) in the vampire genre via close collaboration with John Stagliano on his ambitious series "Voracious" a decade ago, but her "Juicy Silver" four-part vampire hunter series for Digital Playground is disappointing. It delivers plenty of XXX sex action, basically all that porn labels are interested in these days, but in terms of storytelling and action scenes it's a bust.
Blake Blossom is one hot modern-day Buffy, without any humor, but the other characters are nonexistent. Her fellow waitress at a diner Emma Magnolia hangs around for hours of running time until finally showing off her big rump humping co-worker Van Wylde in the lengthy final episode, cross-cut for an hour there with brief dollops of vampire-destroyer action and mainly Blake humping her ex-lover (now a vampire) Alex Jones. Finale tries for tragedy but has little impact. Blake as Juicy Silver has a lame tagline, typical of a poor script: "Eat silver, bi*ch!", as she uses silver bullets or a silver knife to off the vampires.
Digital Playground and the other surviving major Adult labels like Wicked and Adam & Eve used to regularly mount expensive, large-scale story films, but in the current streaming/subscription landscape have turned for financial reasons to content like this, verging on (or sometimes actually) all-sex shoots. The results test the patience of all but the most addicted porn fan.
