Toy Story Funday Football is a crazy concept Disney has come up with in order to continue milking the franchise for every dollar it has left (as they are making a fifth movie, which people are not excited for as it is unnecessary, just like Toy Story 4). Basically, while Nickelodeon does its own simulcast of NFL games by adding visual effects, this one goes the extra mile.
Taking the game between the Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Week 4 of the 2023-2024 NFL season, Funday Football is a simulcast on Disney+ and ESPN+ where Disney does the impossible: they have the game set in Andy's Room, and the game plays exactly like the real deal, play-for-play. Sadly, the animation is not too good, as since this is the first time, there are a lot of errors and technical difficulties, as the animation is off (the plays are not focused on, sometimes, the character models clip through characters like poor Slinky Dog, and the fact that some of the models for the football players get twitchy and looking like they came out of a PS2 video game). Also, the special does have some continuity errors, even for a special that is not really canon to the films (While I can understand Andy's Room being the setting, why are toys like Ducky, Bunny, and even Duke Caboom doing there, since they were introduced after he left for college?)
Kids will be liking this, as the game has Toy Story characters watching the game, Duke Caboom does a halftime show, and in parts of the game, the commentators teach kids about how football works as well as the various fouls, this is all it is: a simulcast aimed at kids in order to get them into football while trying to continue cashinh on a frachise that many fans felt has gone past its prime.
