Needless to say that I had never heard about this 2023 movie titled "Alien Apocalypse" prior to sitting down and watching it. And with it being a movie from The Asylum, I have to say that I wasn't exactly harboring the biggest of expectations to writer Jeffery Anderson and director Adrian Avila. But I still opted to watch the movie, on the off-chance that the movie would prove entertaining. Yeah, The Asylum does spew forth the occasional good movie.
Writer Jeffery Anderson put together a script that felt rather pointless. It was a simplistic script, but there just wasn't sufficient contents to the narrative to make it a particularly believable storyline. And the movie was a quite a bland viewing experience. I am sure that some diehard sci-fi buff could get a small kick out of watching "Alien Apocalypse". But me, as a casual viewer, well I was not impressed with this movie.
There were a couple of familiar faces on the cast list, that being Michael Paré, Paul Logan and Patrick Labyorteaux. I will say that the acting performances in the movie were actually not bad.
There was a lovely "Star Wars" reference in the movie, with the "TK-421" being the code for regulation.
Visually then this movie wasn't all bad. The Asylum has far more questionable special effects movies to their resume. I will say that the effects in "Alien Apocalypse" were fair. Nothing outstanding or memorable, but fair enough actually.
My rating of director Adrian Avila's 2023 movie "Alien Apocalypse" lands on a very generous three out of ten stars.
