First off need to give credit where its due, thanks to non other than our one and only Power star Puneeth Rajkumar for PRK Productions. His vision for contributing to such movies and openness to welcome new age Directors and actors is matched by no one. Almost everyone else wants it to be big and noisy but he choose to throw weight to such movies where the characters come to light with stories and ability to showcase true talent of what acting is all about. Thank you Sir, even though you are gone you surely are living among us with producing such movies. We need movies like these which compliments originality and authenticity. Director has really ticked all the right boxes by ensuring to keep characters simple and elegant and let the story talk.
Kudos to everyone associated with this movie,

Breaking the norms, the transition of goes from patriarchy to matriarchy as the years pass on. Beautifully made, direction, screenplay and scripts are memorable. Realistic, hilarious and heart touching - a perfect movie to be watched by all including kannadigas. Entertainment is guaranteed along with social message , never feels like movie is casted by debut actors . It's a never miss movie, don't wait till the movie streams online rather take your fam and hit the theatres. Amazing direction, great acting and funny . The recreation of 1900s Bangalore is wonderful. A good drama for the weekend.
WARNING: Beware - The movie has no fighting, Romance, sex, Villain, nudity. It is a pure family entertainer. You can sit with your granny, daughter and watch it, laugh and enjoy the movie. It is a feel good movie.
It is coming of age of the siblings of a middle class, traditional joint family of the 1960s Bangalore. How they manage to face adverse situations and find a way out. The script avoids all possible melodramas and takes forward the story in a light hearted manner. The dialogues are very refreshing, two songs are very popular and picturised very well. Sindhu Sreenivasamurthy in her first attempt as Director/Writer/Actor has done a marvelous job. Ably supported by all the new actors like Anirudh, and seasoned Ashok and Sudha Belavadi. The cinematography by Abhimanyu is excellent, so also Music by Bindu Malini. Trilok as lyricist and dialogue writer has won the hearts.
After a long time Kannada Film Industry has got a good clean family film. PRK productions and Ashwini Puneet also deserves congratulations for believing in new comers. It has paid rich dividend.
Overall the movie is too good and deserves support from the audience. The director, as for as I know, is the youngest Actor/Writer/Director in the Indian cinema.

One of the best movies seen in recent times, almost everyone has acted exceptionally. Sindhu has amazing talent and is someone to watch out for in Kannada Industry.
I was able to relate to quite a few things from my childhood as well. Very simplistic depiction of old Bangalore lifestyle and the narrative is gripping throughout the movie. I would have loved it if we had seen a little more of Suma character transition at the end.
My only regret was not able to watch in theater when it was released. I would support these amazing movies anyday over the mass masala movies.
Watch with your family, especially someone who can relate to the old lifestyle.

Family entertainer has a lot of giggleworthy earthy Bengaluru feeling. This is a movie to be watched with the parents as almost every 50+ member will have a similar experience to narrate.
Primary characters have been well etched out by the writers. The movie does NOT have crass, double meaning content. Director lets slip a lot of moments where she could have made you shed a tear but intentionally so. Showing emotions without drama is something Indian directors have pick up and this director has excellent control over the craft. This does great good to the mood of the film.
Technically cinematography, art, costume and make-up work have done a great job given the constraints of the budget. The subtle ageing of characters is well captured. The music binds the movie very well. Bindumalini's OST and Songs are too good. It is time that we get to hear her more frequently. Her work elevates the humour. It is a pity that we no longer get to buy CDs of such good work. All the actors have done great justice to the roles but Anirudh Acharya stands out as Senior Jaggu (equal credit to actor and writer here). He has been able to carry wit and goofiness with great ease.
The casting is perfect. You would be able to relate the faces and compare them with wedding albums of your parents/grand parents.
As director, Writer and protoganist - Sindhu has come out a winner in all her responsibilities. The movie is short as per Indian norms. The viewers left the hall thinking aloud that the it could have been a bit longer. A compliment to the editor and such a welcome change to Indian Cinema.
I would recommend this movie to be watched in the big screen along with every senior citizen in the family. I can assure you the weekend following, you would end up having long calls discussing the movie and past generations.

Aachar & Co chronicles through a decade of the Aachar family as the siblings grow up and learn to be independent after their father, the patriarch. It focuses on the personal growth of Suma, the principal character, who takes up the responsibility of running the family as well as helping her sibling settle down as the story is set in the 60s and the stigma with woman being allowed to go to work.
Kudos to Sindhu Sreenivas Murthy for donning the Director's hat as well as co-writing the script along with playing the main lead. Half the battle is won with the near perfect casting and the writing ensure to deliver this sweet little film. The initial scenes introduces the Aachar the 10 siblings and their dynamics along with the strict father. The light hearted treatment of the subject works in It's favor to get through the tragedy that hits this family. From being a naive girl to becoming this mature woman whom the siblings look upto definitely worked well for me.
Definitely recommended.

Although known for its accurate portrayal of old age Bengaluru, there is more to it. It is a narrative of decades of story in a small runtime leaving you wanting more substance for each plot of each decade. Often this is a negative aspect of many movies but once you leave the theater with this sense. You realize that is one of the best attributes of the movie.
Predominantly consisting of newcomers, all the actors provide worth for each role they portray. Timely background score matching the decades and amazing music and songs overall keep you happy. The storytelling of Kannan Gill and Sindhu is amazing and so is the direction.
All in all it's a must-watch movie and you can basket it under the comedy/feel-good genre. You will thoroughly enjoy particularly if you are from Bengaluru and make sure to watch it with generations of family to get all the additional stories for each prop and situation.

If you're looking for a feel-good family entertainer, something that the elders in the house would like, look no further than this film.
Set in 1960s Bangalore, this film deals with family traditions and patriarchy and how the next gen deals with the challenges of transitioning to a modern values. Director and Co-writer, Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy, also stars in the film. She and the entire cast did a good job!
While there's nothing mind-blowing or majorly endearing, the film and writing is funny while commenting on things that were (and in some cases still are) wrong with the society and while talking about women's empowerment, grief, expectations from the people around us, etc.
A different way of telling a story that's been told several times. If you grew up in a traditional South Indian household listening to stories from your (grand)parents about how "Back in the day....", you'll enjoy watching some of that play out in the film.

Watched the Kannnada movie ' Achar and Company '. A light hearted comedy set in the 60's and 70's. Totally relatable banters between brothers and sisters of 5 plus siblings. Felt like an evening well spent and a must watch. It's a retro feel good retro movie which got me memories of my childhood, our struggles on employment and money. Yet we were totally and emotionally bonded. The Protagonist Suma Achar has done a wonderful job in portraying her character.
In a large joint family how the relationships blossom between the siblings and how the equations change is very well depicted. Music score is good and the songs and lyrics are meaningful and catchy.
Top class direction with able support from all actors. After a long time I was gasping for more of the story to unfold. Felt sad to leave the family of Achar and Company.

The movie has a kind of Brahmanical touch through out, and you don't see any other people in the plot. I should say that it was only they who were ruling every part of the system back in the 60s to 70s. So, no offense on that.
When i checked the trailer it seemed like a movie about a startup kind, i expected it to be some what like 'Made In Bengaluru' movie, but the director has brought a different kind of theme in the movie. I should say that the movie seems well connected to the those days. I have my own relatives who worked in KPWD back then, but they didn't raise 9 childrens. The birth control was there in the 60s and 70s. Ashok and Sudha really do well in their part of portrayal in the movie, other actors have done well too. The team has made good work to make the characters look like the ones of those era, and PRK Productions has spent well on sets and making of the movie.
Worth watching movie, but right now, i heard some one who came out of the movie telling his family members to give positive reviews on the internet. So, well, you know who are watching the movie now - Family and Relatives of Orthodox makers. Well, watch the movie if you have time, it doesn't bore you, though i felt i could had walked out on hearing the demise of the Celebrity's wife.

Amazing movie! Dialogues are well thought out, witty, appropriate. Acting is superb particularly by the main characters. Tightly knit and you have to watch in stretch (saw it on Amazon). Can't believe that a youngster has done screenplay, acting and directing so well. Hope there will be many more movies from this team.
The setting is very nostalgic - be it the house, decorations, flowers worn by the ladies, scooter, or utensils used. The suprabhatam in the beginning is a treat! Hard to think of changing anything in the movie. We are all really tired of heroes hitting 30 goons, acting to smart, meaningless dialogues. This movie is a breath of fresh air. Reminds one of movies that Fariq Sheikh and Deepti Naval used to make in early 80s. Middle class, simple stories and a joy to watch that will be remembered for years.

A well made Kannada movie with storyline set in 1960s. A light hearted entertainment paired with captivating Cinematography. Few dialogues are bang on. A perfect family entertainer which indeed lacked to get good support from audience. A good watch with a storyline of a family with 10 children and their struggles. Could have been even more intense. My ratings 6/10!

Awesome story and beautiful Retro setup. From first minute to the last each scene is beautifully made. From a single man earner to all the ladies of the house contributing to the family. One of the best movies I have seen this year.
Would surely recommend all of you to watch it with your family. Each actor has given their best, the household names Suma Umma Jaggu - uff Yum Maaa Do concentrate on the lyrics of each of the songs ha ha too good. Billi jhuralla (White cockroach). Next I am going to check out each of the makers names especially director lyrics writer. Best output from each of them.
Highly recommended and proud of Kannada Cinema.

Really amazing story line with great scenes and acting. Pure light hearted jokes and well narrated direction makes it outstanding. Songs stands out with unique blend. Every scene is a well thought and well executed timeline. No unnecessary drag. Pure entertainment. Nostalgic old Bengaluru story. Perfectly covers any family in old times. Even the sad scenes are well covered with required sentiment without unnecessary exaggeration. Perfect blend of all elements with great natural acting by every actor and capturing scenes as is makes it worth to watch. Worth the money. Overall the best one! Must watch with family!

Sindhu Madam and her team have pulled off a fantastic movie - a though family entertainer. I watched it with my entire family and loved the whole nostalgic experience, more closer to my parents generation.
The cinematic experience, editing are handled really well which engrosses the audience really well. Song sequences are apt and at the required instances in the movie still going with the flow. Well narrated story, excellent direction and wonderful performances by all of them especially Sindhu madam as Suma and Jaggu. Recommend to support this movie by watching it in theatre. More power to you Sindhu Madam and your team, all the best for your future projects - will eagerly await for them 👍

Nostalgic movie and sweet story. Everything from story to setting to acting to the sharp direction contributed to a beautiful movie. It brought back memories of Bangalore of my parents generation. Each character was distinct and well done and lent itself to the character development of the protagonist. The era too was a period of change in social environment and expectations that formed a great backdrop for the story which is captured nicely in the storytelling. The songs are unique and capture sentimentality beautifully. Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Very well done Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy!

What a lovely film simple and clean. I guess kannada audience loves to watch mass illogical movies in the midst of those movies this movie is a pure gold. Very realistic life of slice drama feel good movie it showed the life of Bengaluru back in 60s . The dialogues, narration, casting, screenplay, background music everything just felt right. The direction is also good Kuddos to the whole crew. Lastly kuddos to PRK production for producing such a good film. Rooting on Prk for their further projects.
Everyone has done a great job with their acting I can't name few but of course the main lead was relatable time might have passed but still we are same with some of our customs and traditions.

What makes the movie stands out and shine is film's "Creative Writing" :)
First few minutes when they lovingly describe Mango as a life: won my heart!
It is true that, too many people and too much conversations & development make the first half little confusing and irritating but the real essence of the movie lies in the second half.
As they say, "our Life is a big movie and we are the main cast", Achar & Co is an account of life events of a one big family that spans over 10 years.
The thought that a movie can be shot on a single family and at one place itself is very interesting. The writer manages to pull off the narration beautifully. And it is well supported by acting, cinematography, background score and editing.
The idea of setting up the story between 60's and 70's is excellent and it also defends the fact during those days families used to be big. Full marks for the production department for maintaining the aesthetics :)
Thought the movie what you experience is pure fun, joy and set of emotions. And when the movie is ended, what you feel is attachment and hope.
Thank you and my best wished to the entire team :) May it get all the success it deserves. :)

Defying societal conventions, the shift from patriarchy to matriarchy unfolds gradually over the years. The film is a masterpiece, with its impeccable direction, screenplay, and dialogue leaving a lasting impression. It effortlessly blends realism, humor, and poignant moments, making it a must-watch for everyone, including Kannada-speaking audiences. Notably, it guarantees both entertainment and a powerful social message, and you won't even notice that it features debut actors. This is a movie you cannot afford to miss. The direction is exceptional, the performances are top-notch, and the humor is on point. The film's portrayal of 1900s Bangalore is simply enchanting, making it a perfect choice for a weekend drama outing.
I loved the movie . Had a sweet smile on my face through out the movie. I was captivated by old Bengaluru. Promising director Sindhu loved your work keep up the good work .Music is awesome whole album is treat I keep playing them in loop . Totally worth my time one of the best movie of 2023 for me. The coming of age story and how Suma transforms is very interesting . I was rooting for Suma and in turn for Sindhu .Overall a great movie addition to Kannada Film Industry would love to see Sindhu and Rakshit collaboration these two have passion and creativity on same level . Have full stars from me.
This has a fairytale-like quality to it, be it in the storytelling style or the frames. Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy, whom I recall seeing in 2020's French Biriyani, showcases her love for everything retro and takes us back to '60s & '70s Bangalore, when it carried the vibe of an aesthetically pleasing hill station, while also being a bustling city. It talks of an era where interpersonal relationships (and togetherness), especially between siblings and family members, held utmost importance. The visuals have an inherently vintage beauty to them, and this is majorly the case in interior shots where you get to feast your eyes on intricate household items, decor, and delicious-looking food.
From a plot perspective, Aachar & Co takes us through the journey of ten siblings and their process of dealing with life as part of an orthodox household in Bangalore. I'm guessing the greatest challenge would've been to find real locations to depict the city in those times. The art department has (mostly) done a fine job, and only in very few shots did I feel a momentary jump to the modern day. Casting less-known faces in primary roles also helps establish a faster connection with their characters. In many ways, the writing celebrates the resilience of its women characters, trying to break gender stereotypes, and it is evident in the way Suma gradually (and organically) evolves into the film's protagonist.
Music is also a key ingredient here. Right from the altered version of Suprabhatam in the very beginning, the music underlines both the funny and the emotional scenes. The "Pickle Song" inventively uses kitchen utensils to create a truly unique sound. Some narrative choices did baffle me a little, like the elder brother's absence, especially in the second half, and the film chooses to go for a supremely optimistic finale where all is well. But I fully felt the warmth of being in the Aachar household and would've loved to be a silent member who gets to feast on all the snacks from that locked shelf. I'm really excited to see what Sindhu Srinivasa Murthy does next!

This one is a unique well-executed masterpiece. Simple, realistic, nostalgic, funny, and fast-paced narration in a way that skips the usual melodrama. A brilliant depiction of the traditional Bengaluru's typical orthodox family lifestyle that succinctly conveys a meaningful message. The storyline does miss completion of some aspects though like the eldest son's ghosting after relocating to Delhi that leaves the viewer wondering what happened.
Overall good casting, acting, and cinematography.
I'm sure that most who understand or can relate to the pre-IT times of Bengaluru-like living will enjoy this movie. Recommended!

A movie which runs for only 105 minutes can elicit so much nostalgia is something I never believed possible!
The brains behind this movie making amazes movie. If we clear the familiar sights, we can see they managed to elicit the nostalgia without resorting to much props or great sets to reproduce the old Bangalore! All they did was to take the movie in a rural place with minimal boards naming the different Bangalore areas! And.. it worked!
The film is pretty magical in the sense that it sticks to the core plot and does not digress much. But also in the process shows the changes happened to the lives of middle class families in Bangalore over time!
Kudos to Sindu Sreenivasamurthy for the wonderful direction and all the actors for playing their parts well!
Really heartwarming to watch!
