An other spin-off from the Gold Rush series on TV lately. Here we see Canadians and it's fun to see the difference with the Americans of the original series. I gave it a 6 because it lacks originality and I get the idea that the producers cut some corners. Still if you want to see more about the Gold mining industry and some funny friend- and family-relationships under stress in the bug infested north, this IS an option. Much much better than Gold Fathers for example. We see the ever breaking down of big machines and the bush-fixes they come up with. The same we see with the inter-miner-relation ships and of course the highs and lows of the 'catch' or find of the day. Too bad they didn't take some more time to really explore all there is to tell. I got the impression a lot was taken out and the show could have distinguished itself from the rest by going deeper into certain aspects of living in the North.

After watching this now for several Sundays all day long episode after episode after episode my husband and I have discovered what this show is all about.... epuiptment breaking down!!! Got about three different crews that try to get gold however they break down, and break down, and break down, and when they're not breaking down, they're breaking down. they're breaking down before or they're breaking down after or they're breaking down at the same time of the other Cruise but definitely breaking down cuz breaking down is what they do and breaking down is what they have the whole show about is breaking down "oh God we're broke down we're not going to get our gold this time we're going to have to bail out". Because why, they're broke down! As I'm watching the show right now guess what they just broke down! In our region we have to watch it five or six times on Sunday in a row of them breaking down.
It has lost my interest.

Great Show and well made. Interesting hard working people are the subjects and it explains the trials and tribulations of mining gold in the Yukon well. The only thing I would complain about is that basically every episode is about fixing the equipment they work on rather than gold mining. One of the better shows on the history channel. Definitely better than "Gold Rush." Great Show and well made. Interesting hard working people are the subjects and it explains the trials and tribulations of mining gold in the Yukon well. It's sad how Bernie craft is so toxic and the way he treats his sons. And Ken Foy not supported his wife in the last 2 weeks of her pregnancy and being charged with environmental crimes by burying vehicles in a gold mine site. Ken and Bernie are examples of how not to be a gold miner. With the exception of those two I think it's a great series.

I've been watching reruns of the 1 first and 2 seasons and not once i hear Big Al mention Colleen.I know in the last couple of seasons he talks oh what a wonderful woman and its her dream and well you get what I'm trying to say. But in the first couple of seasons i didn't even think Big Al was with anyone because not once i heard her name or any mention of her and he talks like he's single.Im not saying that there wasn't a Colleen and its OK that's she's camera shy but why not mention her!? Till she dies and then we cant watch a episode without him talking about how wonderful she was and loving.well I know if i was on the show I would at least mention my wife even if she never appeared on camera.Yes I know there's one episode where she's passed already and it shows her standing behind Big Al while he's cleaning the gold but that's not till she's died.Don't get me wrong Big Al is my favourite character on the show but I would have liked to see or at least hear him talk about her while she was alive.Again I'm watching reruns so maybe i just haven't seen one yet when she's in there. Thanks just wondering.
