Hoichoi's 'Homestay Murders', directed by Sayantan Ghosal, features an ensemble cast including Arjun Chakraborty, Parno Mirta, Sohini Sarkar, Saurav Das, Aparajita Ghosh Das, and others. They completely nailed it with their performances. Crisp editing and a tight screenplay hooked us from the beginning. The hilly region is the perfect setup for this murder story. The storyline is simple, but the narration is fantastic. Ramyadip Saha's camera beautifully captures the hilly areas as well as the tense atmosphere of the homestay. However, the last few episodes are quite rushed, and the mystery unfolds before the finale, which is a drawback. Overall, it is a decent thriller from Hoichoi after ages.

Web Series review for my Bong friends: Homestay Murders streaming on Hoichoi
#sanjuzzreviews #homestaymurders #arjunchakroborty #ParnoMitra #SohiniSarkar #SouravDas
A homestay at a remote location. Strangers with a dark past as guests. The owners too hiding some secrets of their own. A good recipe for a suspense thriller.
Homestay Murders is fairly engaging & a well directed whodunnit. The eerie ambience of the remote homestay has been well depicted. The series is fast paced and has a few jumpscare moment's too.
Starcast is good with Arjun Chakraborty, Parno Mitra, Saurav Das and Sohini Sarkar all giving earnest performances.
However the plot is fairly predictable and u might be able to guess the killer by the 4th episode of the 6 part series.
However, to his credit, director Sayantan Ghosal builds suspense successfully in this decently executed murder mystery.
Going with 3/5 for this one.. Adios 🙂!!

First and foremost to be talked about this thriller is the star cast. Amazing casting and each one of them worked brilliantly in their scope. Special mention Sohini Sarkar. She was outstanding.
The story is gripping and would keep you glued to your chair. The location is outstanding. Its amazing to see that more and more productions are exploring northbengal and showcasing the beauty of the dooars.
The story is really gripping. Especially the start is absolutely brilliant. So is the progress. But it was a bit predictable. Though I feel the biggest problem was the ending and the editing. The ending was so abrupt that you would feel that they have at least one more episode which they are not telecasting. Also the character building scenes were cut pretty abruptly. A few mire scdne in the beginning, building the characters eould have been great.

Hoichoi is known for bringing authentic bangla series with impactful casting. The storyline brings a thrilling experience & scintillating performance from well versed actors. Performance of saurav, Animesh, sohini commendable.
But it lacked that kind of action or drama that a web series requires. It felt like a low cost short film despite having such a good cast. I expected more drama, action & boldness from characters. Some roles felt like worthless as the play of debchandrima & tony. Parbo mitra also having very short impact. Everything seems fast placed, lacking intent. By the way i am impressed with Animesh & sohini. They deserve more no. Of series
I hope hoichoi will invest more, back to original track by creating series like Hello, Eken babu, kaiser or Paap.

To Hoichoi - We pay for your platform so I think somewhere it becomes your responsibility to bring up some good content.
Review - I rate this 4 just because I found it pretty decent and I could see some old faces. This is Streaming on Hoichoi. It has (6) six episodes.
The storyline needed more research, no gripping found, not engaging too like how a thriller should be.
I love reviewing, so experiencing a not so good piece is also OK to watch. But i felt sad as my Saturday noon has gone with this!
If you wanted to watch something casual, not something which is brainstorming, then go for this.
Cheers!

'Homestay Murders' is a typical bengali thriller with murder mystery series. It released in 'Hoichoi'. It has 6 episodes.
While watching this series, it may seem like this kind of story has been done before. Director Sayantan Ghosal created the ambience very well. But the end was not saved. A little more emphasis should have been placed on the story and dialogues. In some sequences, some unnecessary dialogues has been placed. Background music is not bad.
Talking about performances, Arjun Chakraborty (Animesh), Sourav Das (Kinjal), Sohini Sarkar (Damini), Aparajita Ghosh (Mita), Judhajit Sarkar (Kunal) are acted in this series. But they did not act very well in this series. Such performance is not as expected from Sohini Sarkar. The same applies for Arjun Chakraborty and Sourav Das also. Besides, other casts are have in this series. There performance are not good.

Long time back Premendra Mitra made a movie titled "Chupi chupi ase" based on Agatha Christie's The Mouse Trap. I saw a Bengali drama "Indurkol" based on the same play, made by Shoubhonik. This series, though having good casting and nice photography somehow fails to live up to it. From the first episode one can smell the rat (mouse?) and it lost the tempo gradually. The mystery is over even before the last episode. Too much was asked from Sohini Sarkar and she did too much, appearing artificial. In the end everything just fell in place too easily. It is a one-time watch, should and could have been much better.
