There are estimated to be between 200-500m still life pictures of fruit in the world which equates to roughly a 2% chance of any single home containing one. The odds have having three similar paintings will of course be influenced positively by the potential of forming part of a collection but will be reduced because not all owned paintings are on display. Add all this together and factor in the number of properties for sale at any given time and it seems likely the occurrence of the painting coincidence would only occur in one property sale at any given time across the whole nation - a true needle in a haystack.
