A cultural crusader strikes in L.A. Slasher, now streaming on Screambox.
Directed by Martin Owen and produced by Jeffrey Wright and Daniel Sollinger, the black comedy stars Mischa Barton (“The O.C.”), Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Danny Trejo (Machete), and comedian Andy Dick as the voice of the killer.
L.A. Slasher is “a biting, social satire about reality TV and the glorification of people who are famous for simply being famous.”
The film also “explores why it has become acceptable and even admirable for people to become influential and wealthy based on no merit or talent – purely through notoriety achieved through shameful behavior.
“Incensed by the tabloid culture which celebrates it, the L.A. Slasher publicly abducts a series of reality TV stars, while the media and general public in turn begin to question if society is better off without them.”
Here’s the trailer.

Hulk Hogan’s daughter, Brooke Hogan, showed off a stunning monokini as she let fans know about something she doesn’t particularly enjoy, and ironically it’s all the work that goes into making photoshoots happen.
With that, she posed in a sizzling black one-piece and black high heels strapped onto her feet, as she posed with her head arched back and one leg bent to place a foot on a chair.
The former TV star and wrestling personality kept one hand on her hip and the other holding her blonde locks as she leaned her head back for a provocative pose.
Along with the gorgeous photo, taken in a bare-bones room with white walls, she gave fans all the reasons she doesn’t like participating in photoshoots.

December 1st Blu-ray & DVD Releases Include Fear The Walking Dead Season 1, Goodnight Mommy, Cooties
Hard to believe it, but December is finally upon us and for the first Tuesday of the month, the new horror and sci-fi home entertainment releases are an eclectic, but awesome, bunch. Anchor Bay is keeping busy with both Goodnight Mommy (easily one of my favorites of 2015) and season one of Fear the Walking Dead on Blu-ray and DVD, and Lionsgate is bringing home the dark comedy Cooties to both formats as well.
Kino Lorber is also resurrecting two cult classics on December 1st—Twice Told Tales and Queen of Blood—and a pair of indie films debut this week too: L.A. Slasher and Tokyo Tribe.
Fear the Walking Dead: Season One (Anchor Bay Entertainment, Blu-ray & DVD)
Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family.

Modern society often extravagantly honors the flashiest pop culture stars who seemingly garnered fame for just being themselves, as the public largely wishes to live their lives vicariously through their favorite socialites and reality stars. But there are also those people who adamantly despise such celebutantes, who accumulate their fortune without having any noteworthy talents or abilities, and wish to see them fall from grace. But rarely does anyone have the audacity to take drastic measures to stop what they perceive to be culture’s continued descent from elegance. But the title character of first-time feature film writer-director Martin Owen’s new independent black comedy crime film, ‘L.A. Slasher,’ which opens today [ Read More ]

L.A. Slasher has a wealth of potential. The core concept is something that a whole lot of viewers could no doubt get behind. But the screenplay and overall execution come up a bit short. Ironing out the wrinkles in the script could have helped to push the pic into impressive territory. Intensifying the violence and gore could have also lent something memorable and enhancing to the production. As it stands the movie has some very fine moments but feels a little too watered down and unclear to win fans over in unanimous fashion. Its a fair effort from Martin Owen but its no future classic.

Celebrity culture and reality TV obsession come under fire in a new horror film directed by Martin Owen called L.A. Slasher. After a few months of teaser images and posters, a trailer has finally made its online debut. I got to say: It works. I'll be curious to see what directions it goes in and I hope it doesn't become too preachy, but I'm game to check this out.
Jeffrey Wright and Daniel Sollinger produced the film.
Incensed by the tabloid culture which celebrates it, the L.A. Slasher publicly abducts a series of reality TV stars, while the media and general public in turn begin to question if society is better off without them.

With Guardians of the Galaxy due to hit theaters next month, Dave Bautista, who plays Drax the Destroyer, continues his transition from the world of professional wrestling to becoming a formidable big screen actor. He recently starred as "Brass Body" in The Man With The Iron Fists and co-starred with Vin Diesl (Fast And The Furious, Guardians of the Galaxy) in Riddick. In this exclusive clip for L.A. Slasher we see him go toe-to-toe with veteran Danny Trejo. Trejo, best known for his Machete character has been busy lately as well. His singing and dancing routines for Muppets Most Wanted stood out as one of the most memorable moments of the movie. At 70 years old, he doesn’t seem to show any signs of slowing down. He currently has 13 films in post-production. How many other actors can still play a bad ass at 70 years old? The L.A. Slasher publicly abducts...

A new teaser poster was sent our way for Martin Owen's indie horror flick L.A. Slasher. No word yet on distribution or release, but we'll keep you posted, of course. The film, which lensed last year, is described as "a biting, social satire about reality TV and the glorification of people who are famous for simply being famous, L.A. Slasher explores why it has become acceptable and even admirable for people to become influential and wealthy based on no merit or talent – purely through notoriety achieved through shameful behavior. Incensed by the tabloid culture which celebrates it, the L.A. Slasher publicly abducts a series of reality TV stars, while the media and general public in turn begin to question if society is better off without them."

We recently told you about the upcoming directorial debut of Martin Owen, which has been described as "a biting social satire of reality television." Titled L.A. Slasher, the film centers on a killer who targets reality TV stars - the kinds of 'celebrities' that have achieved fame and notoriety thanks to their oftentimes reprehensible actions, like starring in sex tapes and being terrible parents.
I think it's safe to say that most of you reading this right now are probably sick and tired of reality TV, and the way that it has turned nobodies into somebodies, and L.A. Slasher is tailor made for those who are, serving as a bloody indictment of our obsession with pseudo celebrities.
Today we've got the reveal of a brand new poster for ya, which you can check out below!

Drake Bell, who once starred on Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh, has filed for bankruptcy.
Drake Bell Files For Bankruptcy
Bell, 27, claims that he is $2.166 million in debt and is worth $1.575 million in real estate and an additional $10,500 in personal property, according to court filings obtained by E! News. Of the more than $2 million that Bell owes, $46,000 is to the IRS.
In 2012, Bell claims he made $408,000 and dramatically less – $14,099 – in 2013. He estimates that he now makes roughly $2,820 per month, however, his expenses apparently total more than $18,000 monthly, reported TMZ.
Bell last made headlines back in January when he dissed Justin Bieber, calling him “talentless” and “artless” on Twitter and calling for people to sign the petition to deport the singer.

Reality television has given rise to a ridiculous new cult of celebrity, where you can become famous for a "private" sex tape gone public, a weird obsession, being a "real" housewife, or giving birth to a baby in a variety of less-than-ideal situations. While obviously someone out there must be watching this drivel for it to still be on television, I don't like it, and I have a feeling that most of you don't like it either.
L.A. Slasher doesn't like it, either. The new film, directed by Martin Owen (his feature directorial debut) offers a "biting social satire of reality TV." The L.A. Reality TV has long been a thorn in our sides. No matter how you slice it, there's no reason for the cast of "Honey BooBoo" or "Duck Dynasty" to be celebrities, and while we are at it... who gives a shit what the real housewives of wherever are fighting about now? It's about time someone took this kind of nonsense to task!
