The first temptation is to appreciate the performances of Tedy Todd and Philip Orazio. The second, to be touched by the wise crafted simplicity of story. Not the last, to be touched by the final.

A Black Union surgeor is witness of the distruction of his regiment. He runs, discovers a cave and the man inside it.

After preliminary reserves, fears, prejudices, they are together entire night. The man is wonded but he refuses to be check up by physisian . In fact, he wants only have a companion for his last life hours. To talk, to confess, to not be alone. His legacy- a gun and a banjo.

In morning, he dies. In grave, the banjo, the gun . Pragmatic, the surgeon needs only a good object of stranger.

Inspired cinematography, beautiful portraits of characters, smart constructed atmosphere. At the end, a not easy to define emotion about war, people, a night in a cave and a pair of boots value.
