Just saw this movie on DVD and I can say that it is one of the most entertaining Bollywood movies of 2013. This movie is far entertaining than other high budget and over-hyped crap like Dabang 2, Himmatwala etc. Though the plot is a little loose but still the entertainment quotient is far better as compared to other high budget movies. I was glued to my seat till last minute and didn't think about taking a break. The fun element, comic scenes (thanks to the villain Jaideep) and action sequences are top notch. The acting is good, especially the villain Jaideep was superb. Had the screenplay been more tight and believable, the movie would have been a classic cult. But it is still a very good movie. Here are my ratings:
Story 7/10
Screenplay 5/10
Direction 6/10
Editing 6/10
Acting 7/10
Music 8/10
Overall 7/10
Go grab the DVD if you still haven't watched this movie. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Oh my gosh! Incredible. Finally Vidyut Jamwal, a real action hero has arrived in India. Although he debuted in Force along with John Abraham, it would be wrong to term him hero for that, because his role was of a villain. But in Commando, he is a full-fledged tough action hero without much CGI effects as disclaimed by the film units.
To be straight, Commando works only because of Vidyut Jamwal's martial arts stunt skills, and the villain who would go beyond ruthless or brutal for saving his honor. Besides, former Miss. India Pooja Chopra's first leading role which would remind you of Kareena Kapoor's role as Geet in Jab We Met as a talkative with straight forward behavior. Pooja performed her best to go on accordingly with the offered role, and is not less impressive.
Vidyut plays here as Karanvir Dogra, a savior to Simran who is forcefully threatened to marry by the local gang leader AK 74. Karan is a highly skilled Indian Commando who was wrongfully arrested & tortured in China by mishap during an operation. After one year, the story shifts to Simran who is on an attempt to secretly run away from home to stay away from AK 47, who is cynical to marry her. Then, she meets Karan who encounters all the goons to prevent her from being chased by them. Now, begins the cat and mouse chase part.
There were many Bollywood action movies in the past, but this movie holds a special place in the list because of the real life martial artist Vidyut Jamwal who alone dominates the whole story of Commando. Action movies acted by Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, John Abraham etc. were nothing to this newly arrived action hero who is fully prepared to impress the present generation with a macho & flexible personality. Those olden days are over where CGI and wired stunts were carried to entertain the audiences in the form of masala movies. Yes, Commando is also a masala action movie, but it's much tougher and real like type in actions and stunts. I would term Vidyut Jamwal as a new Bruce Lee with lean muscled body who can fly, jump or climb to any extent if necessary to eliminate the goons. And yet, he performed those with panache and natural looking form that you cannot negatively compliment on it. Newbie director Dilip Ghosh did unpredictably a good job.
Final word guys – watch it if you are really a crazy fan of action or thriller genre movies, and sure you will be impressed by Vidyut. Keep my words. And, Vidyut has a good way to go ahead in Bollywood.

Dilip Ghosh's 'Commando' is Kick-Ass! Lead Star Vidyut Jamwal is one hell of an action-hero & he executes each & every stunt effortlessly. He single handedly makes this film work!
'Commando' Synopsis: A condemned Commando protects an innocent girl from a feared politician.
'Commando' is the same old story of the Good versus the Bad. Its been witnessed on the screen umpteen times, but what makes 'Commando' worth watching, is the Raw & Brutal Action it offers. The Action is amongst the best I've seen in a long, long time. The Screenplay clearly highlights Action. Dilip Ghosh's Direction is atmospheric, while the Cinematography captures the wildness accurately.
Performance-Wise: Jamwal steals 'Commando'. He's highly efficient in the Action-Scenes! Pooja Chopra looks sweet & delivers a very confident performance. Jaideep Ahlawat plays the twisted antagonist, most convincingly. Darshan Jariwala is adequate.
On the whole, 'Commando' shouldn't be missed by the Fanboys of Action-Orinted Cinema.

Vidyut Zamwal makes a good action hero. He is comfortable and convincing in action scenes but he can't deliver his one liners with expressions however that does not matter much in an action flick but it could have definitely taken the intensity a notch higher. The plot here is an excuse to deliver the action scenes. Pooja Chopra looks good until she speaks. Her light moments with Vidyut fall flat. Jaideep Ahlawat makes a menacing villain but he does not stand a chance against our action hero. All man on man fights are worth clapping, beautifully choreographed and effectively edited. Climax does not disappoint. Music and back-ground score is good enough. At the end, it makes a descent watch for a lazy holiday.

After a very long time, I got to see a very good Hindi Action film. It had just everything .....A kick ass action hero, an over the top villain, a heroine who spouts gr8 one liners, excellent location and some very well shot and executed action sequences. The only thing lacking was a entertaining item number. But I overlook the later.
The movie starts off well and there is rarely a moment where it becomes boring (except when the songs come in). The last 5 mins I felt is a little let down. However, this film is far better than the crappy South Indian action film remakes that are churned out over the last few years.
Jamwal is an actor to look out for. After a long time, Bollywood gets a fine action hero. Along with him, Alhawat is another terrific actor. He makes his AK 74 an entertaining villain who mercilessly kills people but before killing them tell them a joke so they can laugh while dying. Hope both of them get more roles and scripts that show their skills.
This movie is for pure action buffs....so others stay out !!

Commando One Man Army Title Tells Everything about Movie. Vidyut Jamwal is only reason to watch movie. His Stunts are unbelievable. I guaranty you that you have never seen such FAADU stunts Ever. Movie have very poor story screenplay and direction. Pooja Chopra is failed to make mark in this movie. She not suites in Simrit's Character. As Vidyut Jamwal performance in FORCE we all have very much expectations from him in COMMANDO and he not disappoint us. He really takes action to another level. His dialogues are also quite good. Vidyut Jamwal is best action hero in India as per my views. He performed all his stunts by himself without using cable except one where he jump in the valley. Movie may made better if the story was strong and directed with some better director. If that happen i am sure movie will become best action film ever made in bollywood. If you want to watch some stunning stunt's and you are fan of action movies then this is treat for you.

This is for the first time I am writing a review on IMDb though I have been following IMDb for the last 5 years, but this movie " Commando " has made me write it, First of all, I always love Hollywood films, I hardly like Indian Films, but When i first saw a promo of Commando I thought this is the Indian movie I should be watching, Offcourse I missed it in the theatre, but got a DVD copy of it.. What Do i say of this movie, VIDYUT JAMWAL is my next ACTION HERO, It was action packed movie, although there were some scenes where things have gone astray with the item number, nevertheless I really really loves it. Now i will highlights the points in terms of various aspects of it,.
1. Direction 7/10 : Direction was good enough, although I believe, the director could have added more to the end sequence, where the Army , and Police arrives.
2. Editing 5/10 : Although the direction was good, but i believe the director should have called some more skillful. There were points when they continuity went Haywire, it just didn't click to me..
3. Cinematogrpahy 9/10 : I am happy the Cinematographer had decided to stick to Hollywood standards, the camera movements captured the whole ambiance of the surround, felt like watching Hollywood movie.
4. Acting 8/10 : Although i liked Vidyuts acting , but pooja chopra's Acting was really not up to the mark, she struggled with Dialouges at time,
5: Dialouges : 8/10 : I am glad they broad sarcasm and intelligence in the dialouges,
6: Music 4/10 : Almost every aspect of this movie was good but the poor music kind of lost the touch with the story..
Overall the movie is a must watch, and I am glad the movie has been widely appreciated, I am going to watch it again ...

Reviewed by: Dare Devil Kid (DDK) Rating: 3.5/5 stars
Even though the movie is riddled with flaws, when you get a hero with such a macho on-screen persona, a manly base voice, and real fighting abilities, along with a decent plot-line, all is forgiven. Intense, fluid, and more importantly believable fight scenes, daring, edge-of- the-seat stunts, hard-hitting and memorable one-liners, Pooja Chopra's refreshing effervescence, Jaideep Ahlawat's convincing malice laced with mean humor (unlike Prakash Raj's umpteen failed endeavors to successfully portray these two traits in cringe-worthy villainous avatars), a convincing narrative arc, and above all, Vidyut Jamwal's awe-inspiring rendition of a tough-as-nails action hero make this movie a complete blast.
Most non-action movie fans might not be able to overlook some gaping loopholes. But for us action junkies, this is one awesome testosterone driven, adrenaline pumping ride from start to finish. If only this film had done away with some of its narrative blunders, it could have been an instant action classic. Nevertheless, its still a thrilling ride that no action fan should miss.
Indian Cinema has finally got its next big action hero after Dharmendra, Amitabh Bacchhan, and Akshay Kumar.

Action scenes are great i never seen such action in any Hindi movie .. story was OK 5/10 .. not bad .. nice songs... like the acting of villain and Hero is also super cool like him but i really don't like the girl at all no offense she ain't pretty .. !!
there was some stupid blunders in some scenes .. loll when it came to the scene where they took hero in a jeep with Chinese soldiers, he was hand cuffed suddenly he attached at Chinese soldiers where the f_+_ his handcuff goes and he escapes... loll that was stupid .. and when he was thrown from the hill shot by villain .. and came back alive in 1 piece loll . that was also typical Hindi movies hero thing .. other than that overall movie is nice watchable ..

Back in the 90s, in his films like KKK and Mohra, Akshay showed that Indian heroes can do the spinning back kicks and use the Nunchaku with as much ease as the Van Dammes . Vidyut takes that legacy forward and proves what Tony Jaa and Scott Adkins can do, he can do as well.
The introduction of Vidyut is nothing less than a celebration of his histrionics. This commando can do handstand pushups, one leg squats, spartan push ups with as much ease as walking in the garden. His intro fight is easily the best choreographed action sequence in Bollywood for a long time and matches the global standards of martial arts action. The ease with which he carries out his back flips, corkscrew kick, jumping through a car window and over it, vidyut makes all so-called action heroes Salman and Ajay look like school-going kids. People run on road, Vidyut runs on people!
But not everything is good about Commando. Pooja Chopra's role is quite irritating at points and she tries her best to ruin the film and is successful to some extent. But the Villain Jaideep Ahlawat makes up for her OTT acting. He is a supercool villain though personally i would have preferred a more evenly matched opponent for someone like Vidyut. The dialgues between them are good to okayish. As I always say, a good action film is one which keeps everything else simple but the action. Commando tries to take itself too seriously in the second half with some attempt at social messages which doesn't help the cause. There is an item song too and some typical filmy scenes added purely to make it look like a South Masala and that doesn't help. There are enough fight scenes for a normal movie goer but for an action lover, I believe there were less fight sequences. At least two more sequences could have been added in the second half instead of the nonsense of Pooja Chopra and the boring atrocities to her family.
I remember Aamir claiming Ghajini to push the envelope of action in Bollywood. It regressed us by 20 years and we had to face the wrath of a rather unhealthy trend of nonsensical South Masala remakes like SOS and Himmatwala. Commando is not entirely satisfying but its is a film that genuinely pushes the envelope of action in Hindi cinema. For this alone, the film deserves to be a success. My wish now is to see both Vidyut and Akshay in the same frame.

I chose Nautanki Saala! over Commando, but when I finally saw the latter, I was impressed by it. The former was waste of money.
Vidhyut Jaamwal is absolutely great as the action hero & I am sure he will come right up. I cannot say the same with newcomer Pooja who reminded me most of Jab We Met's Kareena Kapoor. She was okay, but needs to take some more acting classes. Jaideep Ahlawat is stunning & vindictive in his role as the lead villain. His tiny tidbits with sharing jokes, showing built-up mercy for his victims & glorious performance brings him in the limelight. Supporting cast is good. The music is suspending over the weak plot but as a whole, it sure is a grandeur.
What Commando lacks as a cinema is the clichéd story, bad editing (three different shots of Vidhyut round-jumping a moving car, are you serious?), average screenplay & clever execution of ample resources. What could've been an eye-opener, these parts make Commando a one-time watch. With certain things copied from Hollywood (which is okay as far as it looks genuine), filling the romance (which thank God is platonic) & awkward comic situations in between serious plot points is a let-down. The lead couple's cut-shots while their adversary is planning to capture them was disheartening. Dialogs were more of energetic than submissive. Large number of goofs, faux pas & implications makes me rate it a humble 5.
BOTTOM LINE: Commando is a good effort by the film-makers and the speculation of possible sequel surely deserves my go-ahead (if as a critic, I might propose).
Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES
Language: Strong | Sex, Nudity, Mouth-Kiss: No | Violence: Infinity | Gore: Critical | Alcohol: Mediocre | Smoking or Drugs: No | Traumatizing Factor: Very Critical

Action genre was always considered to be one of the safest bets at the box office before the new millennium. And probably the last action hero who successfully ventured into Bollywood purely relying on his power packed action sequences and well built body structure was Suniel Shetty, proving himself with his BALWAN released in 1992. Now working on the same game plan, Vidyut Jammwal & director Dilip Ghosh come up with a similar kind of project after more than two decades, which solely focuses on its amazing action stunts and chase sequences to please the audience. And in that process they mostly win the battle filling up the void felt in this particular genre by the Hindi cinema's action lovers from long.
Post his debut in a negative character in FORCE (2011), COMMANDO can also be considered as a re-launch pad for Vidyut with a clear focus on his fresh positive image makeover in the industry. As far as the plot is concerned, the film revolves around the same ages old saga of the clash between the good & evil, so there is nothing path breaking in that particular section frankly. But despite of being completely predictable in its story progression, COMMANDO still features some exclusive technical merits which force you to take a strong notice of the collective attempt made by its entire team.
First of all its all about being a high-voltage action extravaganza with many jaw dropping, pulsating and never seen before (in Hindi films) kind of stunts performed by Vidyut without the use of any body double, cables or safety measures (as stated in a text slide shown before the beginning of the film in bold letters). Though for the fans of East Asian action films, this might be still lacking behind but that surely doesn't allow you to ignore the unbelievable kind of efforts put in by the lead hero, who must have gone through an extreme level of training and workshops to achieve the excellence witnessed on the screen. To be honest, Vidyut doesn't act in the film in literal terms but manages to grab your complete attention from his first fight sequence itself and then goes on to serve more in the later reels convincingly. Undoubtedly an act of mettle which should put all the so called 'Big Action Heroes' of the present to shame, since they have got that title purely because of the technology and gimmicks used to shoot their impressive fight sequences in a false manner.
Second, comes the enjoyable soundtrack of the film which doesn't let you complain, even when the songs are all placed abruptly, hindering the racy pace of the movie without any basic requirement. There is a fine bhangra song featuring the one and only Daler Mehndi with the words "Lena Dena", an upbeat catchy beat number saying "Lutt Jaawan" played in the end credits, a peppy item number and an extremely well shot, beautifully composed and brilliantly rendered love song, "Saawan Bairi" which needs to be seen on the bigger screen only to feel its right impact generated by all those shots canned in slow motion.
As the third merit of the film comes its DOP (Sejal Shah) who undeniably can be stated as its second lead working behind the screen silently. Here the camera not only captures all the breathtaking action scenes magnificently but it also cans the jungle backdrop and the chase sequences with the much needed energy & beauty together. The background score pumps up the overall impact effectively but also turns out to be quite interfering in few scenes which could have been avoided.
So with the above mentioned three merits, COMMANDO is a fine watch before intermission taking the action in Hindi cinema to a different level altogether. However in the second half, it has few visible directorial flaws like the way, girl suddenly changes her clothes while wandering in the jungle and the uneven sequence of hanging a replacement body in the middle of the town with some jumping cuts. Yet the action keeps covering its weaker points repeatedly resulting in a mostly likable film in the end especially for the viewers who love to watch such incredible stunts performed on the screen in a compelling mode.
Performing as the film's female lead Pooja Chopra looks good on the screen talking too much as per his written character. She tries her best to deliver a bubbly act but is not able to come up with something extraordinary or special. On the other hand, Jaideep Ahlawat proves to be a fine actor once again (after GANGS OF WASSEYPUR) in a commanding performance of a standard bad man of Hindi films wearing some horrifying, abnormal white eye lenses. And in that get up he truly gives a tough fight to Vidyut, speaking in a typical Punjabi lingo & cracking jokes, providing the much needed relief too in an otherwise tense film. Darshan Jariwal is OK playing the army officer and the rest of the cast just serves the purpose as required.
In all, as a film COMMANDO is nothing more than an average action packed Hindi project where the hero beats them all with a purpose. But here the difference is the way he beats them all showcasing some terrific self performed stunts which deserve to be seen not only by the viewers but also by the other 'Big Names' of the industry as their new action lessons. And taking a cue from this, I really wish someone finds the vision of making a legendary action Hindi film soon taking Vidyut Jammwal in the lead which would give him the fair returns, he is genuinely worthy of.
Commando is like the famous Rambo movie in which we have jungle traps and fights and all. Movie is a treat for action fans since it contains some of the most amazing stunt and the fact that they were performed originally by Actor ( Vidyut Jammwal) without any ropes or camera tricks makes it more amazing. He is perhaps the first real fighting hero of bollywood.
The acting is decent but the storyline is not so good. Especially jungle scenes in which Actress ( Pooja Chopra ) is laughing and putting jokes as if they were going on hiking.
Jaideep Ahlawat plays the role of wicked and stone-hearted politician and have justified it's role.
If the storyline was more good then this movie would be 10/10. Action is the heart of this movie and if you are action fan then this movie is a must watch and you will be amazed by some of the action scenes.

A hero is in foreign cell baring worst torture for sins that he has never done. Film starts with an political site which soon vanished in the main story plot is very simple but film hit all-time supper fairy tale. A solder is saving a girl from a monster with all Action ,Trill , Romance But somehow start in jungle and action will remind you "Rambo 1" but who cares , it's not all about action . it's about love as well . A commando stand for a girl who we all know, he is gonna fall for her but I would say intensity and connection they create between 2 characters were beautiful which makes audience to sit and enjoy the whole story. Favourite scene, when a bullet from violins gun hit hero and girl go made and cry madly for him while she is trying to hit others in a state of shock. That was beautiful moment they created between 2 characters. It is no doubt well scripted film, especially violin's dialogs. My favorite line when he said to hero that " tu nay abhi game ki who stage paar ki hi nahi ,jiss k badh princess milti hay " I would say that is the highlight line of the whole film . Actions scenes are well designed and location intelligently and creatively has been used for action like in one scene a random entry come to fight with hero they fight in bathroom , that is very well designed and performed and more on that excellently captured. Music and dance is amazing. I don't know but last scene creates impression that there is more to come. There should be part 2 of this film as well.

i see many of reviews under rating this movie,i pity on them for not recognizing the real talent in actors ,vidyut gave an outstanding performance which you can never find in all time over rated salman khan or any other poor khans movies, no offence!pooja chopra is good to watch, as co- actor she has done a good job which may add some stars to her debut in bollywood. every dialogue is well written and executed with perfection....action scenes were at its best!! though you feel you had seen them in ong back movie but they were performed best..the slow motion song is catchy and so good to watch , all thanks to choreography. seriously the movie never brings you down..all i want to say is its very worthy to watch with family and friends..its a don't miss movie for those who like action movies. waiting for its DVD release to fill up my best movie collection.

Commando is a routine good vs evil flick which had no story and direction but Vidyut Jammwal's death-defying stunts makes it a commendable watch.
After being wrongly accused as terrorist , Karan ( Vidyut Jammwal) escapes from China's border. On his return , he meets Simran ( Pooja Chopra) who is running for her life after wicked and stone-hearted politician ( Jaideep Ahlawat) forces to get married to her. Karan must fight with the warlord before Simran gets in his hand. The Review Directed by Dilip Ghosh , Commando is a typical love story we have seen on Indian screen ample number of times. However , Commando works on several grounds. The never-before action sequences played by Vidyut , dialogues with witty one-liners and shrewd and cunning comic role played by Jaideep Ahlawat. I also liked the cat-mouse game played between Vidyut and Jaideep. Hats off to Vidyut Jammwal for executing the near- to-perfection action scenes without any cables and body double. The hard-work clearly pays off and it is pleasure to watch the deadly stunts. The actor gives good one-liners with serious tone of his voice. Jaideep Ahlawat plays the selfish villain character with aplomb. I liked his grey characterization of local MLA. Pooja Chopra shows ample promises and should go a long way. The flipside is the weak direction and poor storyline. Screenplay is OK. Cinematography is eye-catching. Editing could have been better. Action scenes are the highlight of the film. The Bottom-line Overall , if you are longing for some great action moves, Commando is a treat for you. Otherwise , you might want to skip it. Average 2.5/5

Score 4/10 Director Mr. Dilip Ghosh work is below average. Makers were so desperate to exploit the capacity of doing dare devil stunts by lead man Vidyut Jamwal that they had forgotten the importance of a good script. Nothing new in story. Screenplay is totally illogical. They have left so many questions unanswered. A person is in China's prison, in the suspicion of being Indian spy but they prefer to transport him in another Jail in a open Gypsy!!!! Ridiculous. A person is almost hanged by the villain who has politicians and Police in his pocket but some persons rescue him and treat him, it is a mystery who they were and why did they do it!!? Dialogues are good at places. Stunt done by lead actor Vidyut Jamwal is impressive but with a condition that you always reminder yourself that all actions are being done without cable and other technical supports otherwise you would find it ordinary. Being a common audience, I never saw cable in a stunt. If this movie would have made in the era, when cables were not invented then it would have been a mile stone in Indian action film history. If you are good without technology then you will be best with the help of it. I would love to see him doing some extraordinary stunts which will be impossible for another actors. Real stunt only thrills in live street fight or in cage fights. If you are taking care of your opponents so they shouldn't be hurt then what is the logic behind real stunt. It is just acrobat without a real fight. Performance wise Vidyut Jamwal is impressive in fights only but very flat in expression and in dialogues. Pooja Chopda doesn't deserve to be even mentioned. Jaideep Ahlawat as A.K 47 is good. A song "Sawan Barry..." 's locations, costumes and picturisation is awesome but always slow motion gives a bitter taste. Rest songs are not good.

Giving it 10/10 as this movie is worth the attempt made in the genre of Action. Vidyut certainly is a treat for action-movie lovers here. And, oh, I mean actual action and not the 'throw them all in air and beat them before they touch ground' one. Unlike the other silly action movies these days, Vidyut does a believable role where he demonstrates the competency of beating 25-30 goons single handedly, as a Commando. Pooja plays the 'teekhi mirchi' yet helpless character very well. The action sequences were slick, complex and technical! The villain, played by Jaideep was truly detestable and creates a character who try to instill fear in the hearts of public by faking things about himself although being a no match to the hero, clearly. This was very well handled by Jaideep till end. The movie also has this 'I hate crooked politicians' thing in it, so, will be enjoyed by many and mostly by youth.
WOW!
This film was completely out of left-field. With the recent dross of commercial flicks that Bollywood has brought, here was something I didn't expect; a mindless Bollywood action film which was so damn entertaining from start to finish. Yes, I am an action junkie and worship Hollywood films like Commando, First Blood Trilogy and The Expendables. But seeing Bollywood try their equivalent of the aforementioned movies is something I have longed for. Never did I think that Bollywood would EVER bring out a movie on the same action level like Ong Bak or even the original Police Story (real stunts, no wires etc).
Well.....We do now!
And we have a new full-on action hero in Vidyut Jamwal. I mean, he was impressive as the villain in Force. But here, he shows that he can be Bollywood's answer to Tony Jaa and Stallone, all rolled into one. Tough, rugged-looking, yet silent and the occasional smart one-liners (a great homage to the 80s action heroes of Hollywood). Some of the stunts he does in the film are breathtaking. Even more impressive when you realise that no body-doubles are used for the main hero (hence the disclaimer at the start of the film).
The antagonist AK47 (Jaideep Ahlawat) screen presence is menacing. I felt that he could have been more terrifying, but in the end, he gets the job done. A good counter to Karanvir (as played by Vidyut). Newcomer Pooja Chopra does a good job too.
Okay, so the plot is predictable, and some parts of the editing could have been sharper. But for action fans, the entertainment value is sky- high. Its an out-and-out action film; it does what it says on the tin. And I really look forward to the eventual sequel. Really, I want more of the same.
Its a must-see for Bollywood action fans!!!

Story was ordinary. But the action scenes were worth watching. If Vidyut Jamwal is doing an action movie, it can be watched, I believe.
