Watched a Marathi movie for the first time! And it is a good experience. The characters portrayed and the history behind all of them was very good to watch and receive. Everyone who watched the movie knew the story so there was no scope to mistell it and the director did well. Unlike some other film industry directors there was not much of flaunting of stardom. At parts there should have been more lighting in the film due to poor lighting we couldn't get the real essence of the scene. Anyway, overall a good watch. The emotions at the second half are well placed. Action scenes are realisitic and there is love everywhere.

I felt, This movie is most accurate version of the Veer Tanaji Malusare.
The intricate details, especially, the last war scene are quite good. Unlike the Hindi movie Tanhaji, which has bad graphics and overly exaggerated story line with lots of fictional elements, this movie on the other hand is more realistic .
This is the story we have been reading from history book.
Since, Ajay Purkar had already played in the masterpiece Pawankhind, and it was a bit odd to accept him as Tanaji for like first 10-20 minutes.
First half is a bit stretch. The editing could have been a bit crisp.
9/10 from me.

Firstly, the way they showcased a movie was excellent. The movie's topic, based on the life of Subhedar Tanhaji Malusare, was an excellent idea with an important responsibility. The movie explains events from the past, leading up to the last fight at Sinhagad. Many aspects may have been unknown to common people like us. Overall, the experience was good. The cast was excellent, but one error was the portrayal of Bahirjee Naik, which was not up to par. They need to reconsider that casting choice. We can't compare it with the Hindi Tanhaji because the story in Subhedar's movie was different from Hindi Tanhaji, although Subhedar's movie was 90% accurate, except for the last scene where Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj meets Subhedar Tanhaji Malusare. So the entire experience was good and it's an must watch movie.
"Subhedar" is a cinematic gem that masterfully weaves the tale of Maratha king Shivaji Maharaj and his unwavering friendship with his commander. With a captivating storyline that holds your attention from start to finish, this movie stands tall as a testament to Maratha history and heroism.
The musical score deserves a special mention, as it complements the narrative beautifully, evoking a range of emotions that enhance the overall impact of the film. The costumes and production design add authenticity, making the historical setting come alive.
"Subhedar" is not just a movie; it's a celebration of courage, friendship, and the indomitable spirit of the Maratha warriors. It reminds us of the sacrifices made and the values upheld by our forefathers, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts and minds.

Experience with goosebumps!
SUBHEDAR - the movie - as expected very well made! Go for it!!!
But go expecting lots of creative liberties, a little cinematic exaggeration, ample amount of CGI, just so that you can overlook these things and instead notice the positives... If you manage to do the above, you will feel the goosebumps. You will feel your grip tightening. You will feel your chest thumping. You will notice that you are suddenly sitting in an upright posture with the head held high... towards the end... And then, it may just happen, that a thought may cross your mind, or you may overhear few people talk amongst themselves after the end of the movie - "how great these people were, and look at our generation and what it is doing now ...what they created, and what we are destroying now ...what they won, and what we are losing now ...what challenges they surmounted, and what we are digging ourselves into." You may feel disgusted, angry, and possibly a bit of shame too. Heard someone say (these people were loud!), "I wonder what would have happened if there was media back then, creating confusion and miscommunication, fanning hatred - all to ensure that there are interesting & engaging news items..." Ok.. this was too much of a digression... But this really did happen!
Great production value. Though a few elements felt like sets, I was surprised to find myself being fine with them. Awesome action choreography. Effective background score & beautiful cinematography. You can notice that the makers have given it their all for this movie. And with this kind of devotion, minor flaws can and should be forgiven.. Looking forward to more in the upcoming series.
When it comes to the recent films made on some historical subjects, I feel that this movie has calibrated it well - how much to focus on sets, actors, their clothes and jewellery, songs and dances, etc. This one seems to have stayed away from the temptation of doing too much in that space, and has instead managed to not let these things overpower or hijack the story, the film and the overall experience it may have intended.

Excellent Movie - Spellbound and Gripping.
The movie, history and attention to detail is very appreciating given the fact Tanhaji in Hindi was too glamours with limited thought to factual history, this movie breaks the barrier. Sply the Tanhaji's make up here is more realistic to that of Ajay Devgan looking more like a bollywood hero.
The difference is of dedication and soulful connect with the audiance is prime objective with this movie versus to that of hindi movie. Hindi movie should learn to make movies more realistic and authentic.
The music is awesome ...specially the last song of Ale Marathe a vibrant rap song keeps ppl charged.

I have read reviews from other media sources. Guys don't go expecting action in every movie you watch. You have a lot of series, movies in crime and sex genre. This is about building Swarajya and how people got together and their perspective. Tanhaji Rao was one of them who was supported by these amazing people and his presence and loss both impacted Swarajya a lot. Let it be old school movie with emotional depth, which we do not see now a days.
If you have watched other movies from this series, then you will understand the links. People calling it soapy or too emotional should know that it was like that during Swarajya. People used to trust each other and call Aai, Mama etc to elders, it is supposed to be about love for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Jijai and about sacrifice for Swarajya.
One part of movie at the very beginning with Jijau's entry gave me goosebumps, I was so taken into her aura and Mrinali has done an excellent job. The female leads are absolutely beautiful and powerful.

He is the only king who respect every religion, women, every person from rich to poor. He gave basic rights to common people for what they deserved. He is the father of Indian navy. One of Indian history's enlightened and bravest rulers is the legendary Shivaji Maharaj. He was the one who laid the foundation of the Maratha Empire and welded the Marathas into a nation by infusing the new spirit of dignity and unity into the 96 clans of Marathas. The great Shivaji was born in the year 1630 AD. Everyone must watch in theatre. Subhedar movies like
showing things as they really are. #clearfort #savefort.

"Subhedar," the recently released Marathi movie, offers a heartfelt and authentic tribute to Maratha history, placing a central focus on the legendary battle of Kondhana. In comparison to "Tanhaji," the earlier Hindi film, "Subhedar" presents several distinctive aspects that set it apart.
While "Tanhaji" boasted a significantly larger budget, affording grand visual effects, a star-studded cast including Ajay Devgn and Kajol, and creative liberties to enhance its appeal, "Subhedar" takes a different artistic approach. Despite its modest budget, "Subhedar" employs its resources wisely, channeling them to create a more emotionally resonant narrative. The film's emotional depth is palpable and effectively captures the essence of the unwavering commitment of Maratha Warriors towards achieving Swarajya under the leadership of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
In terms of historical authenticity, "Subhedar" shines brilliantly. The film serves as a testament to Director Digpal Lanjekar's unwavering dedication to presenting history as accurately as possible. The dialogues, screenplay, and narration in "Subhedar" harmoniously blend to bring to life the significant events revolving around the Kondhana battle. The movie meticulously revolves around the documented reality of Tanhaji and the battle, often drawing inspiration from historical records and local folklores of the Sinhagadh area. By purposefully omitting characters like 'chultya' and 'Kamal,' for which there is no definitive historical source, the film maintains its steadfast focus on historical accuracy.
One of the striking deviations lies in the portrayal of Udaybhan Singh Rathore, the central antagonist of the Kondhana battle. In "Tanhaji," Saif Ali Khan's portrayal was found wanting in the nuanced depth that a multifaceted character like Udaybhan rightfully demanded. In contrast, "Subhedar" introduces Digvijay Rohidas in his debut role, delivering an emotionally resonant performance that masterfully captures Udaybhan's internal struggle as a Hindu warrior fighting under Mughal leadership against his own people.
Transitioning to the roles of the protagonists, "Tanhaji" featured Ajay Devgn, whose charismatic performance and adept action skills contributed to the mass appeal of the film. On the contrary, Ajay Purkar's portrayal in "Subhedar" remains staunchly true to the historical accounts, bearing a striking resemblance to the real-life hero Narveer Subhedar Tanhaji Malusure. "Subhedar" successfully brings to life certain scenes that mirror paintings and carvings found in historical museums and monuments near Sinhagadh, thereby further reinforcing its dedication to authenticity.
Just as Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's words " GADH aala pan majha SINHA gela!" held profound meaning, "Tanhaji" was indeed appealing and charismatic but lacked the authentic touch.
"Subhedar" emerges as an authentic tribute to Maratha history and the resolute pursuit of Swarajya. While it may lack the opulent visual effects and star-studded glamour of "Tanhaji," "Subhedar" compensates with its emotionally charged storytelling and unwavering historical integrity. While "Tanhaji" offered a lavish cinematic experience that resonated with the masses, "Subhedar" is a cinematic jewel for those who relish a genuine portrayal of history. Director Digpal Lanjekar's steadfast commitment to capturing the very essence of Maratha history, coupled with the commendable performances of the cast, render "Subhedar" a worthy and commendable addition to his series of films dedicated to the life and accomplishments of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, including 'Farzand,' 'Fatteshikast,' 'Pawankhind,' and 'Sher Shivraj.'
Proud Maharashtrians, particularly those with a deep interest in their historical heritage, will find "Subhedar" to be a touching and gratifying cinematic journey. As 'Narveer Subhedar Tanhaji Malusure' vowed while setting out to conquer Kondhana, "Aadhi lagin kondhanyache, mag majhya Raybache" ("First, let's conquer Kondhana, then attend my son Raiba's wedding"). Similarly, "Subhedar" conquers the audience's hearts with its authentic portrayal above all else.
