In a country where many toxic and disturbing dramas (you know which ones) break records and are praised, "Babylicious" doesn't even come close to being called "cringe" or "toxic."
With some adult and silly content in a few scenes, it does justice to being called a romantic comedy. It was never meant to be a moral documentary where you would expect practicality or life lessons. It's a chick-flick, so if that's not your favorite genre, I wouldn't recommend it. But don't go into the cinema expecting a life-changing moral lesson.
It's a love story, predictable like every other drama currently airing on our channels. However, it's enhanced with melodious songs like "Mann Ranjhan" that will hook you, and a banger like "Ghazab Kuriye" would be a perfect addition to your Mehendi playlist.
The entire movie is beautifully shot with scenic moments transitioning between Bahrain and Pakistan (you can't even tell the difference!). That's the magic of stellar direction and cinematography.
Lastly, the acting deserves special praise. This is Shehroz's best performance so far, portraying the young, careless, and innocent Omer who is hopelessly in love. Syra gracefully portrayed her character as well, and the chemistry between the two was exceptional. (And no, please don't bring the personal lives of the actors into this!). And let's not forget, Mani proved to be a great entertainer in the movie!
The story of an unlikely hero winning the girl is a classic element that many people enjoy. Even if not everyone agrees with every part of the story, it's important to appreciate the hard work and talent that went into making it. By supporting Pakistani cinema, we help it grow and succeed, ensuring its future.
I want to give a big shout-out to the director and the entire team behind this movie for their amazing effort and skill. It's definitely one of the best films to come out of Pakistani cinema recently.
