This is the second TV series of Coco Martin that is based on a movie originally starred Fernando Poe Jr., the first being Ang probinsyano. This is, however, the third project of Coco Martin that is based on Poe's previous films as he also made a movie remake of Ang Panday.
Rez Cortez is the only cast member from the original movie to appear in this series.
Joel Lamangan said Coco Martin invited him to appear in the series after he attended the premier screening of the first episode. Lamangan said he became close to Coco Martin after he directed Martin's brother Ronwaldo, who also appears in this series, in Boy Intsik.
