After several decades of watching movies, you run out of good new ones. One of the special genres in my choices is SCI-FI.
Sci-Fi sometimes screws up when it is shallow or it tries to mix with comedy. There are a few exceptions. Some load clichés and your mind goes to sleep.
But not with this film, from beginning to end, I was engaged with the plot and I cared about the characters. That is because the writer took his time to flesh out the characters and the story. The genre of Sci-Fi was not the intention of this movie, so don't look for it beyond it's obvious use.
That main character is Jiří Mádl. What a naturally charming actor with that quirky smile of his. Immediately he becomes endearing. He was warm, and well engaged in his role. In fact, him and his co-star, Eva Josefíková, were wonderful to watch and their chemistry was palpable.
I am not one of those who will over-analyze the plot or the mechanics of "time travel". But I have to mention that this film handled it very well. No clichés about the "fish out of water" or other such plot methods with which we are all familiar.
Suffice it to say, I enjoyed this movie and I will watch it again. Even though the movie was in Czech or Slovak, and I had to read subtitles. I thought they did not detract one iota from the enjoyment of the film. In fact, it was really surprising how people REALLY all are the same everywhere when it comes to emotions.
I rated this as high as I could.
Great job to Milo mídmajer and ALL who made this film!
