In today's Amazing Spider-Man #61, a new creative team - Joe Kelly and Ed McGuinness - take charge of for the new story arc, "8 Deaths Of Spider-Man."
The Marvel Universe's latest Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Doom, approaches Spider-Man and tells him that a young Doctor Strange struck a bargain with the immovable Crimson God Cyttorak to use his Crimson Casket as a means of protecting Earth from supernatural threats.
However, Strange had to agree to besting the Eight Scions of Cyttorak, the restless, spoiled Godlings eager to prove themselves worthy of their father's throne, on a yearly basis. The hero found a loophole by arming himself with the Sacred Reeds of Raggador, meaning that if he fell, he'd be repeatedly reborn...in other words, he'd never lose.
Doom is too important for such a menial task and assigns Spider-Man to be his champion. Peter Parker has no other choice than to...

The latest Steam Client update was rolled out recently and as expected, this version of Steam client will not run on Windows 7 or Windows 8. The update fixed many technical issues and also added a new built-in system called Steam Game Recording. With gaming technology constantly transforming, Valve had to stop supporting old Windows operating systems, putting an end to gaming on these Os.

Even Microsoft ended security updates and technical support for Windows 7 and 8. Users still running these operating systems are exposed to new malware and other exploits that will cause games to perform poorly or crash. Upgrading to the latest Windows operating system certainly has a lot of benefits and will even make gaming much smoother.

[Editor’s note: The following essay contains major spoilers for “Anora.”]
Why do men do the things they do to women? Why do they offer affection and hope when all they’re really capable of is self-satisfaction? Why do they prop themselves as something they’re not at the expense of the physical and emotional well-beings of others? This is not to say women aren’t guilty of the same cruelties, but in a world where women continue to be persecuted, having their health, financial livelihoods, education, and more subject to legal control while men walk the Earth freely, seemingly bound by only the Darwinian laws of nature, I think it’s fair to say that one gender is granted a much wider latitude over the other. And why is that so? It was these questions that rattled through my brain as I took in every thrilling high and tragic low of Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or-winning “Anora” and...

R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe has mostly avoided the spotlight in recent years, but Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign has temporarily changed that. On Thursday night (October 10th), he performed at his second rally in as many weeks, this time at R.E.M.’s former home base of Athens, Georgia.
During his four-song set, Stipe was backed by Now It’s Overhead’s Andy LeMaster and Mercyland’s David Barbe. After kicking it off by performing R.E.M.’s 1985 song “Wendell Gee” for the first time in 39 years, Stipe played his solo track “Your Capricious Soul,” his Big Red Machine collaboration “No Time for Love Like Now,” and revisited “Driver 8.”
Watch Stipe’s performances of “Wendell Gee” and “Driver 8” below.

Michael Jackson’s Estate Made Sony Cough Up a Blood-Curdling Amount of Money for Eminem Music Rights
Music has kept our culture alive through better and worse while musicians like Michael Jackson and Elvis have left an indelible mark on our society. However, there has never existed a celebrity devoid of some form of scandal or controversy, and the Billie Jean singer perhaps ranks very high on that list.

Through the decades, the music industry has never faltered in delivering one golden genre after another. Whether it was jazz, rock, disco, metal, grunge, hip-hop, techno, or pop – music evolved its way through the years until the Moonwalker effectively took over the industry, crowning himself the King of Pop in the process.
Not long after, rap entered the picture as artists like Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., and Eminem began to rage against the world.

[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for Episode 6 of “Only Murders in the Building.”]
In this streaming age, where a lot of television seems designed to stretch a story across eight to 10 hours of bingeable content, it’s fantastic to watch a show commit to a stylistic bit for a single episode. “Only Murders in the Building” has always loved tweaking its format in cheeky ways, and it feels right that for Season 4, with Hollywood interlopers (and an unwilling Zach Galifianakis) interrupting Charles’ (Steve Martin), Mabel’s (Selena Gomez), and Oliver’s (Martin Short) investigations, “Omitb” plays with styles of filmmaking themselves.
Episode 6, “Blow Up,” does so in a couple of ways. The most obvious is that the episode is presented as a companion documentary made by in-universe directors the Brothers Sisters (Catherine Cohen and Siena Werber), using only found and specially recorded footage: The episode’s events unfold from the viewpoint of archival material, Brothers’ Sisters talking heads,...

Charles Burn crafts a methodical masterpiece about self-discovery and main character syndrome that’s cast against Super 8 science fiction and the power of cinema.
“I didn’t know it would be like this. I thought making a movie would be a lot more fun.”
It’s hard to compare to the euphoria that’s experienced from a good graphic novel horror story. Expressive, disturbing images linger on the page and proceed at the viewer’s discretion as they set the pace, rather than vicious visuals that flash across the screen in a movie or television series. It’s easy to get lost in a graphic novel’s artwork and almost become haunted by its imagery. It’s a form of possession that can even feel otherworldly, as if the reader has left their body or become inhabited by something foreign. This isn’t an experience that’s felt with every graphic novel or comic,...

Like most Shonen anime, Akira Toriyama’s anime franchise is ridden with controversies. This holds especially true for voice actors. Be it Masako Nozawa or the late Hiromi Tsuru, the incessant use of the same voice actors received backlash from fans. However, things might change for good this time.

With the release of Dragon Ball Daima, new voice actors have joined the cast. The series looks as promising as the cast with the addition of Fairouz Ai in the team. This move could potentially dismantle the controversies and stereotypes surrounding the casting of voice actors.

"Star Trek," as many may know, wasn't a huge hit during its initial 1966 to 1969 run. The series always struggled with low ratings, and only received a third season after a passionate letter-writing campaign kept it on the air. The third season, luckily, pushed "Star Trek" up to 76 episodes, which was just enough for syndication deals. "Star Trek" began airing in reruns in the early 1970s, and only then did the series find a wider -- and widely obsessive -- audience. Reruns allowed Trekkies to watch episodes multiple times, and develop their own theories about the Enterprise, about the show's technical devices, and about the characters' backstories.
The first official "Star Trek" convention was held in September 1972, and show creator Gene Roddenberry began showing up at subsequent cons to discuss his show and hear from fans about what they liked. I am convinced that it was during the convention circuit years...

The Toronto Film Festival is awash with international titles. Led by Mohammad Rasoulof’s “The Seed Of The Sacred Fig” and Gints Zilbalodis’ “Flow,” the festival’s huge Centrepiece spread alone has 38 titles from outside Canada and the U.S. The Discovery section has another 18.
Not all Toronto international titles are world premieres, however. Here are 16 which are sparking good word of mouth. Variety isn’t claiming they are the best. The buzz might not be justified. But they are certainly worth tracking.

However, the very same update proves that it’s time for the studio to move from its cranky old Creation Engine.

While fans await the release of the Starfield: Shattered Space Dlc, Bethesda surprised everyone with a huge update. It introduced the game’s first land vehicle, the Rev-8, along with other tweaks and enhancements.
Vehicles had been teased for a while, and people were very excited about it. However, it seems the reality of these new game elements isn’t as good as fans hoped them to be. Instead, some users have been left feeling more frustrated than ever.
Starfield’s Less-than-Stellar Land Vehicle Debut
The Rev-8 update, revealed at Gamescom 2024, was supposed to be a game-changer, quite literally. Starfield’s vast landscapes can feel a bit overwhelming. With over 1000 planets to explore, you wouldn’t want to be traveling all across them on foot, would you?
The introduction of a land vehicle seemed like the perfect solution, offering players a new way to explore each planet’s extensive terrains.

A little over a year after landing her first Oscar, and a month after earning her second-ever Emmy nomination for her role in The Bear, Jamie Lee Curtis can now add “doctor” to her long list of accomplishments.
The star was presented with an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts by the American Film Institute at the film school’s class of 2024 commencement ceremony on Saturday. Halloween director John Carpenter was on hand to present her with the honor, noting, “We did Halloween, and it made all of us famous, but Jamie Lee especially. She became the queen of horror movies; I’m not sure she wanted that. I’ve watched Jamie’s career through the years and watched her grow as an actress, and finally, finally, she won an Academy Award — and rightfully so. She is an amazing talent.”

Disney’s latest Star Wars project, The Acolyte, has been the subject of multiple debates since its release and has also experienced notable review-bombing, which made it into the most controversial Star Wars project to date, and trust us, there have been controversial ones. Nevertheless, The Acolyte ended its first season after eight episodes, and most fans believe that the final episodes managed to redeem the series in more ways than one.
Several factors contributed to that redemption, and among them was the appearance of Darth Plagueis, a major character from the lore who turned out to be connected to Qimir, one of the series’ main characters, as well as that of Master Yoda, who made a cameo in the final episode.
In an exclusive interview with our friends on ScreenRant, Director Hanelle M. Culpepper discussed her work on the series and she revealed some interesting details about the potential second season,...

The ever-changing world of manga and anime has often blessed its fans with a ton of titles that have featured compelling storylines, characters, and unique concepts that have hooked their viewers. The industry was once ruled by legendary titles like Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach, and many more.

However, once they came to an end, newer titles replaced them, which managed to establish a meaningful connection with their viewers. It looks like the cycle is going to repeat as three of the biggest new generations are drawing a curtain, and titles are set to take their place.
Although several titles have recently gained popularity, only three are trusted enough to carry on the legacy and become the newest faces of the industry. These new series are none other than Kagurabachi, Kaiju No. 8, and Chainsaw Man, which have been heavily backed by the fans.

Star Wars: Every Droid You Didn't Know that was Voiced by a Celebrity - Main Image
Droids have always been a source of slapstick and comedy in the Star Wars universe. While fans can’t see the person operating the droid, Lucasfilm does tend to cast some well-known faces to play the occasional bucket of bolts.

The Opening Ceremony at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games featured numerous performances, but there was one in particular that drew mixed reactions, including outrage from conservative leaders.
During the four-hour ceremony on Friday, drag queens and dancers at one point struck poses along a long table as a person painted sparkly blue, singing in French, was resting on a dinner platter in front. Some people quickly took to social media to say that the image resembled Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper portrait of Jesus Christ and his 12 apostles before he was crucified.
The table later transformed into a catwalk for models and drag queens to showcase Paris’ fashion scene.
House Speaker Mike Johnson wrote on X (formerly Twitter) following the performance, “Last night’s mockery of the Last Supper was shocking and insulting to Christian people around the world who watched the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. The...

Joe Biden and his presidential campaign continued to try to assuage fretful donors following the president’s dismal performance at the debate on Thursday.
At a Pride month fundraiser at the home of Rob and Michele Reiner, Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the “elephant in the room,” acknowledging that Biden did not have his “finest” hour but insisting that he still was about to show a contrast with Donald Trump.

She also repeated a line that the Biden campaign has told other supporters to try to calm their nerves, noting the high stakes of the election. “None of that changed because of a day in June,” Harris said.

Kathryn Bigelow‘s upcoming Netflix film is shaping up after the additions of Idris Elba and Rebecca Fergusson as Gabriel Basso and Jared Harris enter final negotiations to join the cast.
Nearly everything about this movie remains secret, from the title to the synopsis to the stars’ roles. According to Deadline, the story revolves around the White House, where a crisis erupts. While there’s not much to go on, it’s not impossible to imagine Elba, Fergusson, Basso, and Harris leading a political thriller.
It’s been a while since Bigelow shot a feature film. Her last effort was the crime drama Detroit, which starred John Boyega, Anthony Mackie, Algee Smith, Will Poulter, Kaitlyn Dever, and Jacob Latimore. The fact-based drama, focusing on the 1967 Detroit riots, follows a group of rogue police officers who respond to a complaint with retribution rather than justice.

5 Most Creative Torture Methods in Star Wars, from Brain Scramblers to Parasites - Main Image
Star Wars is no stranger to the theme of torture. It’s a practice many follow throughout the galaxy—whether by the Jedi or the Sith. This involves severe pain and suffering, which can either be mental or physical.
Torture can be used to obtain information or as a punishment for someone’s wrongdoing. However, others also use it to intimidate, discriminate, or as a form of revenge.
For example, Star Wars: The Acolyte shows how the Jedi use a parasite to subdue a prisoner. Though it looks gory, it’s creative.
This is just one of the many methods both the Jedi and the Sith use, and here are the five most creative torture in the Star Wars universe.

Dybbuk is a parasitic species the Jedi use to subdue violent criminals in the High Republic Era.
