The film takes it title from the Australian film journal and website ''Senses of Cinema''.
This feature documentary was about a decade or ten years in the making.
Australian film co-operatives / film co-op movements of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s featured in this documentary include the Sydney Filmmakers Co-op / Ubu Films, the Melbourne Co-op, the Sydney Women's Film Group and the LGBT-focused One in Seven Collective.
The film's co-director, John Hughes, previously wrote an article called ''A Work in Progress: The Rise and Fall of Australian Filmmakers Co-operatives,1966-86''. It was published in the December 2015 edition of the journal 'Australian Film History' (Issue 77).
