This story is about strange murders happened in Tang Dynasty in ancient China, and the Tang Dynasty was actually a dynasty with relatively open folk customs in Chinese history. Times are different, and history is written by the people in time. And if you watch the ending, the protagonists scolded Mr. Dugu because they thought he was having an affair, not because he was LGBTQ. What's more, the reason why Mr. Dugu feels ashamed is because he was sexually assaulted and not voluntarily! This drama is well-produced, with great care in historical restoration and plot layout. The costumes and makeup of the protagonists are also based on the history of the Tang Dynasty, and the details are perfect. In addition, the actors' acting skills are also very good, allowing people to take on the role. The series even added many mythical beasts from Chinese legends in the second season, which is very interesting and is an excellent series for understanding Chinese culture.

This show is great! A period piece in Tang China with more adventures of Su Wuming and Grenral Lu Linfang. Kung-fu, wizards, demons and they solve mysteries. This show has it all. Very well acted and written spectacularly as well as shot in some absolutely beautiful places, this show is absolutely awesome. Rates right with Academy of Souls. The characters are very likeable and the mysteries are intriguing and not run of the mill nonsense.i would highly recommend this show to fans of Mysteries and Kung-fu action series and those period pieces that come from China, Japan and Korea. This is my favorite show of 2024. Blows HBO's Dragons away.
Great movie. Great and exciting stories. Philosophical, educational and a bit funny too. But the main thing - without tasteless overblown romance. There was romance, but in a beautiful, veiled and believable way. Modest and gentle.. I also found a female actress who was as beautiful as also cute. The male actors are also all excellent. Watch, watc again and wait for the new series to come.....My love for China started with art history and fine paintings and poetry. Later came the stories of "Judge Di" by Robert van Gulik. And now I have discovered Chinese TV series for evening entertainment. Great viewing. In addition, educational and interesting. How they have been able to use their ancient and great cultural heritage in a new and great way, nothing but admirableh and wait for new episodes .

I was enjoying the series until the episode where the main character (Lu Lingfeng) started shouting and beating a man that he (wrongly) thought had an affair with another man. The series, in many episodes, tries to give a moral compass, and it appears that being part of the LGBTQ+ community is not right. That really killed the show for me; I could not stand the hero anymore. I do not look for pro-LGBTQ content, but I cannot accept an anti-LGBTQ stance.
It is a pity since the acting is mostly good, the "investigations" interesting, and, in like most of these Chinese fantasy / historical movies, the sets and costumes are magnificent.
