Nicole Kidman played the role of a damsel in distress in Joel Schumacher’s first of the two least-favorite Batman movies, Batman Forever. Before Kidman was chosen, the producers wanted Rene Russo to star opposite her One Good Cop co-star Michael Keaton. However, Keaton dropped out of the project and Val Kilmer replaced him, making Russo too old to be paired with Kilmer.

Kidman’s role didn’t make much impact and the film didn’t receive good reviews. Nevertheless, the Eyes Wide Shut actress had her own reasons for accepting a DC role. She revealed that it was more about her trying out different roles than about the hefty paychecks for such movies.

This post contains spoilers for "Star Trek: Picard" season 3, up to and including episode 3, "Seventeen Seconds."
The third episode of "Star Trek: Picard" is probably the most uneven one so far in season 3, but at least it has one thing going for it — the full return of Worf, played by Michael Dorn. By now, "Picard" has jettisoned most of its season 1 and 2 cast in favor of a hard reset that is, nominally, giving the fans what they want: a "Star Trek: The Next Generation" reunion. However, one character still kicking around from the first two seasons is Raffi (Michelle Hurd), whose subplot has been largely disconnected from the main action ... until now.
If nothing else, Worf's insertion into this subplot might get old-school "Next Generation" fans to perk up and pay a little more attention to Raffi's scenes, though what they do with Worf in those scenes and whether it's...

The Irregulars is the latest one-and-done series at Netflix.
Per Deadline, the Sherlock Holmes drama with a supernatural twist, has been canceled after just one season.
No reason for the cancellation has been given, but it comes after the series charted well on the streamer's top ten list, as well as the U.S. weekly streaming chart.
The Irregulars is a dark, mysterious eight-part drama that follows a gang of troubled street teens who are manipulated into solving crimes for the sinister Doctor Watson and his mysterious business partner, the elusive Sherlock Holmes.
As the crimes take on a horrifying supernatural edge and a dark power emerges, the Irregulars (based on the Baker Street Irregulars gang from the original books by Sir Arther Conan Doyle) must come together to defeat larger-than-life forces.
The series stars Thaddea Graham as Bea; Darci Shaw as Jessie; Jojo Macari as Billy; Mckell David as...

Exclusive: Here’s a hot one: Killing Eve star Jodie Comer and The Irishman actor Stephen Graham are on the brink of signing up for a Channel 4 drama that will be set in a UK care home during the coronavirus crisis, Deadline can reveal.
The four-part series is housed at All3Media-backed production outfit The Forge, which has reunited the stellar team behind the BAFTA-winning National Treasure to make the topical drama, including writer Jack Thorne and director Marc Munden.
Details on the plot are being closely guarded by those involved, but we hear that the action will be set in and around a British care home in 2020. The show was originally called Home, but producers are now rethinking this title.

A few days ago, I was scrolling through TikTok and saw one featuring Olivia Benson, the beloved star of Law and Order: Svu played by Mariska Hargitay. The TikTok is captioned “#when I say Acab,” and the audio is from Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” “I hope you know, I hope you know/That this has nothing to do with you,” the woman in the TikTok lip-syncs, as if pained to even be mentioning Olivia Benson and anti-cop sentiment in the same breath.

Veteran TV writer-producer Jon Collier (Bones) has been tapped as executive producer/showrunner on the newly picked up CW drama series In the Dark, executive produced by Ben Stiller.
The project was written by Corinne Kingsbury who sold two pitches this season, comedy Fam to CBS and drama In the Dark to the CW, and saw both of them go to pilot and then to series. (Both hail from CBS TV Studios.) She is in first position on Fam, which stars Nina Dobrev, and will focus on that, with Collier stepping in to run In the Dark.
In the Dark, which has been a darling of the CW’s top executive team, centers on a flawed and irreverent blind woman who is the only “witness” to the murder of her drug-dealing friend. After the police dismiss her story, she sets out with her dog, Pretzel, to find the killer while...

Monday’s Supergirl, the last episode before its nine-week break, changed everything — including the way I feel about Lisa Loeb.
The indie rocker provided the soundtrack for this week’s opening scene, with Purity (aka “Julia Freeman”) singing along to “Stay” when Supergirl & Co. barged into her house. Once Purity was securely in the Deo’s custody, Kara and Alex played a quick game of Good Cop, Bad Cop — or Hopeful Cop, Cynical Cop — with Kara attempting to appeal to Purity’s humanity… and Alex threatening to blow her brains out.

Yes, Netflix’s Glow provides a funny, albeit fictional, behind-the-scenes look into the rise of the 1980s phenomenon known as Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Yes, it features comedic heavy hitters like Alison Brie (Community) and Marc Maron (Maron) sporting some truly fantastic period costumes. And yes, the show’s pedigreed production team includes Orange Is the New Black‘s Carly Mensch and Nurse Jackie‘s Liz Flahive, as well as Oitnb‘s Jenji Kohan.
But Glow also provided a vital lesson to its cast, courtesy of the hands-on training the actors underwent prior to the shoot.

Jay's meeting went horribly awry on Madam Secretary Season 3 Episode 20, but since he's a main cast member, he was returned safe and sound and with intel to solve one of the major mysteries of the season. I guess it was too much for his experience to save his marriage too.
Maybe he should ask Henry and Elizabeth for some advice on that front -- they're certainly doing a good job of helping Jason with his girl problems. Even if they are slacking on the discipline at the same time.
If a plot takes several minutes of wrap up exposition by one of your characters to ensure that your audience followed along, it may be a touch too complicated.
And Jay still didn't explain how Brennan got ahold of the weapons in the first place. Even if he was just buying stolen weapons, Who Was His Contact? There's nothing I hate more than a plot hole,...

But creator Victor Fresco’s two-time track record for cult favorites cut down too quickly (“Better Off Ted” and “Andy Richter Controls the Universe”) falls short of reaching the trifecta. Even if “Santa Clarita Diet” runs 10 seasons, it would have to change drastically to merit any favored status — cult or otherwise. The original “24” was never intended to be sensitive entertainment. Kiefer Sutherland’s long-running Fox drama series didn’t aim to set an example for peace-seeking American audiences — not during a time of war. Rather, it served as wish fulfillment for fans deathly afraid of overseas terrorists crossing our borders and attacking our homes. Given its era, the extreme tactics employed by Jack Bauer to protect us were understandable. It’s what America wanted, and, on some level, what we needed: a hero to save us.
This is not the case for “24: Legacy,” a reboot of the ticking-clock action franchise we might want (if only for those ‘member berries) but do not need. Here we have a new special agent running the show, ready to protect us from a fresh batch of “others.” However, the original premiered just two months removed from 9/11; this “24” debuts as America copes with a new...

A few weeks ago, Syfy released the below catch-up video for “The Expanse,” with one of the best conceits imaginable for getting new audiences interested in the sci-fi drama: the events of Season 1, as recreated by cats. (A “recat” video, if you will.)
This video does serve as a relatively basic reminder of the major plot arcs of the first season, but if you think that by watching this you’ll be able to dive into the second season as a new viewer, you probably won’t have much luck understanding what’s going on. “The Expanse” has little interest in easing viewers back into the sprawling and complicated universe it built over the course of Season 1 — because there’s simply too much story to tell.
Set 200 years in the future, when human colonization of Mars and the asteroid belt has opened up vast new resources, but created no shortage of political conflict,...

Raees
Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Mahira Khan
Directed by Rahul Dholakia
It’s the same old wine—hooch wine—in a not-so-new battle, and I do mean battle. Prohibition in Gujarat is the playground for this pulsating saga of twisted morality. As the Good Cop Majmudar (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) wages an all-out war against hooch seller Raees Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) what emerges from the smoke fire and ashes is a kitschy 1980s-styled potboiler that tells the story of a gangster’s protege who grows into a Robin Hoodlum, the do-dogooder whose Ammi (Sheeba Chadha, so brilliant and yet such a fugitive figure in the screenplay) teaches him that no job is too small or petty.
Taking that maternal advice a bit too seriously (probably uttered by the short-lived Ammi-jaan in an unguarded moment after she may have heard it being said by Alok Nath on Buniyaad) Raees spends...

Last Week’S Review: ‘Mr. Robot’ Season 2 Goes Full David Lynch As We Prepare for the End
In Elliot’s Head, Two’s A Crowd
We begin with another view of a scene from last season, with Mr. Robot talking to Tyrell. Except now we see Elliott delivering the same words, and planting the idea in Tyrell’s head that “you’re only seeing what’s in front of you. You’re not seeing what’s above you.” Then Tyrell tells us the significance of the “Red Wheelbarrow” — a reminder of a father he doesn’t want to resemble — which highlights Elliott’s decision to give that name to the notebook he used to distance himself from his own unacceptable father figure.
And we finally learn the details of Stage Two, a Wisdom-esque attempt to wipe out all of E-Corp’s backup paper records and prevent them from rebuilding their...

Kanye West is officially an Instagrammer. The 39-year-old star took to Instagram for the very first time to share a photo with his 419,000 (and climbing) followers on Sunday. The post doesn't show his Instagram-famous wife Kim Kardadshian West or his kids, but is shot of a person (potentially Yeezy?) driving a car. Ever hear of a little game called Bad Cop/Bad Cop? No? Understandable, as most cop-movie-loving audiences have long been acquainted with the concept of Good Cop/Bad Cop, an idea that John Michael McDonagh’s dark comedy “War on Everyone” pretty gleefully throws right out the metaphorical window.
Read More: Berlin Review: John Michael McDonagh’s ‘War On Everyone’ With Michael Pena & Alexander Skarsgard
Alexander Skarsgård and Michael Peña star in the festival favorite (it played to great acclaim at Berlin and SXSW earlier this year) as a pair of corrupt cops who set about blackmailing any criminal who comes across their path (not a bad racket, all things considered), but when they run afoul of a baddie more bad than themselves, things take a very swift turn into far more dangerous territory. The formula might sound familiar, but Skarsgård and Peña both turn in tremendous performances and infuse...

Everything is not what it appears. This is the saying that Tony Stark lives by, and it’s the most accurate way to sum up this issue in the roaring new series. We pick immediately after the last page shocker that can only be explained by the delayed Secret Wars event, and Tony can’t believe it one bit. Whereas the first issue was light on actual action, the second issue ramps things up with a short, but sweet battle. In typical Tony fashion, he blasts first and asks questions to his lovely snarky A.I. while blasting. But it proves non-effective in his regular armor. Artist Dave Marquez gives us a amazingly rendered look of the armor practically shifting into itself and back out again into the Hulkbuster Armor to test things out.

News from Hollywood, Los Angeles: Liam Neeson is starring in a new action movie. Except it's technically an action-comedy... and it's called The Revenger.
Helmed by Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, there is no official synopsis accompanying the announcement, but it's pretty clear what is going on: the Taken star is taking the mick out of himself.
This follows in the footsteps of Neeson's glorious cameo in Ted 2, where he also has fun with his action persona. Then there's his voice role as Good Cop / Bad Cop in The Lego Movie, which may well be the best thing he's ever done, ever, ever, ever.
It's the leather-jacketed gunning-and-running that's been paying the Oscar-winning actor's bills of late, with his most recent lead roles being in Taken 3 and the all too similar Run All Night.
The writers for The Revenger are Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, the guys behind...

In India guests are equivalent to God. Not for Celina Jaitly anymore. Her experience of renting out her place in Mumbai to Sunny Leone and her husband Daniel Weber could put anyone off hospitable behavior forever. According to Celina after renting her home, the couple reduced it to shambles and refused to hand back the place to Celina when she needed it the most. "I had to stay in a hotel with my 2 1/2 year old twin sons because Sunny Leone and her husband wouldn't vacate my place. They had no legal ground to keep possession of my home," says Celina sorrowfully. The locks of Celina's home had to be finally broken for Celina to re-possess her home. "And to think that I rented them my home out of compassion. No one was willing to give accommodation to Sunny and her insufferably arrogant and rude husband. I agreed. Only to regret my decision.

The questions isn’t whether Dwayne Johnson will be a good host (since he excelled during his first two times in Studio 8H), but whether or not “Saturday Night Live” can finally start regaining some of the momentum that propelled it through its Fall run. That was possibly the strongest stretch during my five years covering the show here at HitFix, but 2015 has been marked by less-than-stellar episodes and a less-than-ideal production schedule. As such, “SNL” has been spotty both in terms of quality and production. But maybe tonight will be a turning point as the show heads into this season’s home stretch. As always, I’ll be liveblogging each segment in real time. I’ll give that segment a grade. I highly encourage you to not stress too much about the grades. The Rock Obama will get angry if you stress about the grades. See you at 11:...

Every fan of the Walking Dead will have certain expectations for every episode; Rick will talk about solemnly about survival, Carl will be whiny as hell (making you inevitably hope that this is the one where he dies) and Daryl will do something very manly whilst looking very dirty.
Daryl is one of the show’s favourite characters precisely because of his loyal devotion to his friends – even if it is guarded – and his unfailing ability to kill walkers in any and all conceivable manner. He is the ultimate man; a primal hunter with both a bad side and a soft side and when you see him cry, you cry too and get up off of your sofa and lick the television screen to comfort him.
Okay, so maybe that’s just some fans.
And because he is one of your favourites, it would be interesting to see the journey from his perspective.
