If you love desperate housewives you will
Love this show. I wish that the show would of had a true ending( it was cancelled) so by the time you reach season four, the show ends so abruptly which means: you have all of these questions left unanswered. It's just unfortunate for a show with good ratings got cancelled.

Back in the 1970's when my mother and my sisters would sit down and take over the single TV we owned in the house to watch their afternoon and/or evening soap operas I was miserable. I just could not stand the cheap melodramatic music scores and/or the hokey and predictable "whodunit?" episodes week after week.
My how 40 years have made a difference and now Devious Maids comes along and this series takes soap operas to a new and hilarious camp level. In this particular episode (Season 4, Episode 2 Another One Bites the Dust) the four main female (Maids) characters (Roselyn Sanchez, Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez and Judy Reyes) are all dealing with their own issues whether the issue is dealing with one of their lovers being accused of murdering his ex-wife, or another of the maids having her daughter (who doesn't know the maid is her mother) tries to seduce their boss, to another maid who is falling in love with the next door neighbour (who lives with his mother still) under the pretense that she actually owns the house she his house sitting for, and lastly but not forgotten the remaining maid who has written a best selling book and making it into her dream movie of her life story until the lead actress is murdered by one of the other maids lovers.
In Season 4, episode 2 (Another One Wipes The Dust) there is one scene that is just hilarious when the rich and famous couple Evelyn Powell (Rebecca Wisocky) and Adrian Powell (Tom Irwin) who employ some of these devious maids to either hide their darkest secrets, or to spy on their spouse and catch them in a compromising position come to a head when each knows of the others dark secrets and Evelyn responds to her husband Adrian's request to stay together by stating "well Adrian I guess you will just have to blow yourself". What? Did Evelyn Powell just say what I think she said? Of course she did, because the year is 2016 and the TV censors have lightened up in a big way.
I haven't even mentioned soap opera Queen Susan Lucci who plays a very rich bitch and divorced wife three times over Genevieve Delacourt who also has the Devious maids working for her. At 69 years of age she looks fantastic and she is absolutely perfectly type cast as a wealthy single lady who sleeps with her full makeup on and her diamond earrings.
If you are looking for a ridiculously campy soap opera that is really light and funny entertainment than don't miss this one episode it is one of the best comedy/camp soap operas I have ever seen. I give it an 8 out of 10 rating. What an absolute joy to watch and what a hoot!

Marc Cherry has given us a lot to laugh at over the years from Golden Girls to Desperate Housewives. This new comedy has the DH feel - a group of interesting and endearing ladies, cute comedy and romance with a little murder mystery. All the maids are quite distinctive and their stories are interesting. Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Edy Ganem, Judy Reyes and the still stunning Roselyn Sánchez.
I don't feel a negative stereotyping as some have pointed out. It feels quite sympathetic and glamorous and a positive portrayal than not.
The men play second fiddle like in DH but they are a likable enough bunch. Grant Show of Melrose doesn't look too old yet. Pretty Little Liars fans will recognize Drew Van Acker.
There isn't much to laugh at on TV so I'll take this over some serial killer forensic body parts drama any day.

I am completely hooked on this series. It is well worth a watch. Starts off strong and keeps getting stronger. The drama gets more intense and much more interesting, and while it does, a mystery is being solved. I do think that the controversy surrounding this show is a bit ignorant. People think, "Oh, why do all the maids have to be Latina?" like as if it's really trying to exaggerate the fact that "all maids are Latinas" or vice versa, or the fact that all Latina women can only land stereotypical roles like being a maid. Have we not grown from thinking this way? Can we not just enjoy the fact that they have a show, with an all Latina cast, that is very enjoyable to watch? I think we have all risen from the ignorant, one-sided thinking of "all Latinas are maids"...or at least most us should have. This is a fun show to watch and follow. It shows that Latina women, even with being a maid, can be devious, have another side to them, have excitement in their life. They are not your Latina "stereotypical" maids. This show breaks the ties from your "stereotypical" Latina maid, it helps you realize that there are all different types of Latina women, and different types of maids. I'm pretty sure people don't think of all French maids as White, blonde women with short uniforms that always carry a feather duster around, so why not help break away the "stereotypical" Latina maids thought process by having a show that does just that. These characters have great minds and it's great to see a show with more than just only white people as the main cast (no offense). It's a nice, new change of pace. Why can't we all be happy that Latinas are getting more recognition, they are ruling a whole TV series in a "White-dominate" Hollywood. Yes, there are many multi-cultural actors and actresses in Hollywood, but have you seen a show where the main cast are all one culture that is not "White", or a movie? People have also commented "why can't they be lawyers or doctors, why do they have to be maids"? So only doctors and lawyers can be devious, be intelligent and have interesting lives? Are maids not allowed to have these personalities and traits too? Are maids only supposed to clean and that's all there is to them? This show is breaking boundaries. It shows Latinas have all different types of struggles and problems, not just the "cross the border, get a job, find a home and hope you don't get deported" struggle that every other show depicts. Why do we always have to find some type of controversy involving everything? All of these actresses have been successful in various roles that aren't maids, so how is this showing that Latina actresses can only land stereotypical roles? Watch this show with interest, not skepticism on whether or not this show is "racist". I highly enjoy it and hopefully, you will too. I will be following this show to the end, because I love the show, the script, and the plot, whether or not the cast is all White or all Latina.

Devious maids is a wonderful black comedy. 3 episodes in the only critiques seem to be that some characters are 2 dimensional and lend themselves to social stereotypes. I would argue that this is a necessary stage in creating social satire. As Marc Cherry is the executive producer, and Eva Longoria a producer (with a degree in Chicane Studies now) I've no doubt the characters will be fleshed out, as Desperate Housewives was. Right now, however, I am just enjoying the dozen of laugh out loud moments each episode provides. I love the plot device of the maids, the female employers, and their spouses--it seems like it will lend itself to more interesting group dynamics then tradition allows. I am looking forward to watching the series unfold!

I have had the most fun watching this show. When the promos first aired, I was skeptical. I assumed the show would use the "Desperate Housewives" formula, but I didn't have much hope in the writing or story arc. I really can't explain why I thought this, but I couldn't have been more wrong. From the first episode, I have been absolutely hooked. Yes, because the show is intriguing; but also because I really like these ladies. ALL of them, even the villainous employers like Evelyn Powell. (LOVED HER IMMEDIATELY IN EPISODE ONE). The writing is clever and witty, and the characters are lovable. (Rosie is especially charming).
I do not typically watch shows like this. I'm more of a Dexter/True Blood/Big Bang Theory/Downton Abbey kind of girl, but it's fun to have this guilty pleasure in your back pocket when you want to escape into the mindless (and I mean that in a good way) world of television.
PS: Susan Lucci is BRILLIANT as Genevieve.
Happy Watching!

Five maids, all ambitious in their own ways;four families that employ them-each family has a past and dark secrets and that's fodder for the maids' gossip which will last them a lifetime. When there's a huge star cast,it gives an advantage of adding many twists, episode after episode, thus leaving the audience guessing and wanting more. The creators of this show are well aware of this and they've used it very well to their advantage. It's very entertaining,I'll give it that, but it's quite clichéd too. The pilot sort of picks up from the Desperate housewives' final season-a murder, families harboring secrets, relationships being tested..you get the point. Nevertheless,it's a colorful show(in every way you can imagine) and makes sure you do not yawn,at all. I am not hooked to it,given the known plot spool, but I'd definitely choose it to have a good light time.

I recently started to watch Devious Maids and I have to say that it is actually a really great and entertaining show to watch. This show really does remind me of Desperate Housewives and is created by the same person and Eva Longoria is one of the producers of the show. I would probably say that this show is going to be entertaining to both girls and guys and if you like dramatic/comedy/mystery shows then you should really watch this one. Basically this show is about the lives of these maids that are working for rich family's. I have to say that the series gets a lot better as the episodes go on and I can't wait for season four to start. I would for sure recommend this show!
Completely over the top, dramatic and unrealistic. Love it <3. The concept is very similar to Desperate Housewives but it is from the point of view of the maids instead. Their lives have been amped up for entertainment value but it's plausible. I have only watched about half of season one but the storyline keeps me coming back for more.
If I had to find fault with the show it would be that I don't have that one character that is my absolute favourite. They're all good but no one is spectacular. Aside from that, everything works well to create a great show with plenty of drama and mystery.
So, if you've been missing your Desperate Housewives fix since it finished then this is definitely the show for you.

We live in a hopeless TV industry world.
A TV world, where cheap, uninteresting, weared and dismal series get renewed seasons after seasons, yet, shiny, extraordinary and pleasurable ones get tramped all over, belittled and cancelled.
Devious Maids was one of the brightest and funniest series that I ever got the pleasure to watch.
Devious Maids was an atomic series that got cancelled to punish us, its viewers, for enjoying it, getting thrilled by it and love it beyond measure and limit.
It will forever be special to me, in my heart's hottest place.

- The story and events were simple, yet very entertaining and awesomely woven.
- The actresses were stellar. Every one of them!
- The actors were very enjoyable and Adrian was one the most superb, classy and funniest in his role actor that I've ever seen.
- The atmosphere was classy, beautiful and full of charm.
- The unfolding of events, smooth with lovely intricacies and thrills.
- The maids were let's say, devilish, devious, glamorously beautiful with drops of exotic and personal poisons oozing from their skins.
- The overall feel from the show was one filled with tremendous joy, pleasure and escape.

I started really enjoying this show until I had to constantly endure Rosie's whining. In fact her voice had me cringing so much so that I started to fast forward the video with any scene she was in just so I wouldn't have to listen to her. And then, after the first season I decided I just could take it anymore. Goodbye to what could have been an enjoyable series.
Good times fun. Anyone should enjoy this show. The only irritating thing is when people spend 3/4 of their review writing about how Latinas are so subjected to stereotypes. Seems to me that everyone enjoys the show & only one person brought it up. Bringing up unnecessary racial remarks are why racism is still a problem. The girls signed up for the show, it's doing well, good luck to them, I enjoy it. Tired of racism. If you see racism in this series then I guess it's you. Well I just tried to submit my statement. Wouldn't go through because you need 10 lines of text. So let it be known that I usually never take this much time to give a show a good rating but, it is definitely worth a watch.

If you're a fan a desperate housewives, then you'll love this one even more, its so fun and funny , has a tela novela style n flavor , comedy romance mystery , i just can't stop watching episode after episode , thank you Disney Plus.
This show gets better, and better each year. I admit I was skeptical when it first came out but I was a former Desperate Housewives fan so on gave it a try. I have not been disappointed! It's sassy, naughty, funny, devious and just downright fun! Susan Lucci as Ms. Delatour is both hilarious and sweet but don't try to take her man. I absolutely adore the Powells! They are snooty and nosy and always trying to out maneuver each other in the best way possible.
Zoila is sweet, sincere and sarcastic. Carmen is sassy, spunky and always trying not to be a maid. Rosie? Well you just have to watch the show.
Marisol falls somewhere in between. She is smart and the most normal but don't cross her! She can play dirty too. If you haven't watched this show yet what are you waiting for? Great soapy fun!

Currently watching this show for the 2nd time with my daughter and I have no clue why it was ever cancelled! It is hilarious and heartwarming and brilliant and it never gets old.

Devious Maids is one of those shows that you start watching and continue watching wondering why because you already know you won't watch a second season of that. You start watching the first season and you just want to know how it will end, but at the end you are just releaved that it's over. It's like watching one of those bad soaps that goes on and on forever but then just a bit shorter. The actresses are the least you could say annoying to watch, with in some cases extremely annoying characters. I guess the high ratings come from people that like their soaps every day, but for people like me that think those are the worst and the biggest waste of time you can get, the ratings will just be mediocre at best.

I have to say that one of the best new TV series this year is Lifetime's "Devious Maids" from creator Marc Cherry it's plot is similar to "Desperate Housewives" and that it's storyline is based on secrets and it involves skeleton's in each of the character's closets. No one is who they appear to be, and it's filled with plenty of hot and passionate love scenes often with female characters wearing sexy colored bras just similar to "DH". Anyway the storyline involves the murder of a maid and four Latina ladies that now work as maids for the rich and famous in beautiful Beverly Hills, California they each uncover secrets each episode to help hopefully solve the mystery. Only along the way each episode reveals secrets about each character and the relationships and life's ups and down are shown about each lady. It's one series with mystery and sex appeal with discovery and feel good fun, "Devious Maids" is wicked and clever fun.
