The name of the movie is a play on words in Turkish. As the name of the neighborhood, Kurtulus, means salvation in Turkish. Which is in line with the plot of the movie. A group of women try to find salvation about their problems arising from their relations with men. The district is also important because, as one of the recently gentrified neighborhoods in Istanbul the occupants of the apartment represent people from all walks of life living together.
