Requiem for a Scream (2022) is a Tubi original that I recently watched and tells the tale of a group of friends who go to a lake house in the winter to do drugs, have sex and watch horror movies. Little do they know a serial killer is working on creating opus of screams from his victims to make a song...and he could use a few more screams to finish his project. Lucky for him the winter campers have just arrived next door and are ready to contribute, whether they know it or not.
This movie is directed by Ben Meyerson (My Little Girl is Gone) and stars Cassandra Scerbo (Truth or Dare), Michael X. Sommers (Sorry to Bother You), Georgia Leva (Shameless), Zachary Roozen (Deadly Exchange) and India McGee (Bolden).
This is another one of those "almost good" movies. There was a unique concept for this slasher flick and a good set up of characters and circumstances. The opening scene was good, even if the kill could have been executed better. The acting was solid and the circumstances felt realistic. There's a good throat slash in this, but not enough good kill scenes to make this worthwhile. The killer reveal at the end was disappointing too.
Overall, this is a below average addition to the horror genre that had a solid concept and poor execution. I would score this a 3.5/10 and recommend skipping it.
