Whether you like it or not, Toy Story 4 is definitely happening.
Toy Story 3 was released in 2010 to critical claim, huge box-office success (it became the first animated feature to gross over $1bn) and, most importantly, seemed to tie an extremely neat bow on the franchise, giving what many fans thought was the perfect ending to the incredible trilogy that had played out over the past 15 years.
The characters have been brought back since then, in two television specials – Toy Story of Terror! and Toy Story That Time Forgot – as well as three shorts: Hawaiian Vacation, Small Fry, and Partysaurus Rex. Generally these have been met with praise, although the larger movie audience – the one that forked out all of those dollars on seeing the films – have stayed more or less ignorant of them, and they are fairly easy to forget about.
Now, though, they’re coming back to the big screen,...

Emily Hahn knows cashing in on her voice is no child's play ... the 14-year-old is reprising her role as Bonnie in the "Toy Story" franchise and padding that college fund. According to her contract ... Emily put in one day of work for the made-for-tv short, "Toy Story That Time Forgot" -- and she put away $1,500 for the gig. Hahn's made the most of her debut as Bonnie in "Toy Story 3." Since then she's scored 4 more...

Can the post-Toy Story 3 shorts tell us anything about the upcoming direction of Pixar's Toy Story 4?
This article contains spoilers for Toy Story 3.
It seems to have become surprisingly tough to keep an open mind about Toy Story 4. Pixar have a mostly excellent track record in these things, especially when it comes to the Toy Story series. We struggle to think of a more consistently brilliant trilogy of films, so why were so many upset about the very real possibility of a fourth, also brilliant instalment, when it was announced last year?
Although some would cite the Cars films, or the impossible and yet still disappointing expectation that Monsters University would live up to Monsters Inc, it doesn't come down to anything so jaded. In all of the ways that Toy Story 3 is an excellent film, it's mostly because it feels like a near unimprovable conclusion to the series.

If you haven't learned by now, franchises are never really dead in Hollywood. They get remade, rebooted, spunoff, or reimagined, and for a series as lucrative as "Toy Story," it was only a matter of time before another movie was in the works. A year after the "final" movie, "Toy Story 3," hit, Tom Hanks revealed another movie is on the way. And while Pixar has focused on "Toy Story" shorts ever since ("Hawaiian Vacation," "Small Fry," "Partysaurus Rex") and a pair of holiday specials (2013's "Toy Story of Terror" and next month's "Toy Story That Time Forgot")... surprise, surprise a full sequel is coming. During their earnings call with investors this afternoon, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced "Toy Story 4" will arrive on June 16th, 2017. But perhaps more intriguing is that John Lasseter—now chief creative officer at Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and DisneyToon Studios...

One word, John Lasseter: Plastics. The Pixar chief who changed the animation game with his innovative use of computer technology in 1995's Toy Story will return to the directing chair to make a fourth movie about the adventures of Woody, Buzz, and the gang, Walt Disney CEO Robert Iger announced Tuesday. The film is set to hit theaters in June 16, 2017, and in a somewhat surprising twist it will be written by Rashida Jones, formerly of NBC's Parks and Recreation, and her screenwriting partner Will McCormack (who penned the 2012 indie romantic comedy Celeste and Jesse Forever.) The story was conceived,...

Well, it seems your favorite toys are returning.
Disney CEO Bob Iger, whose rocky rise to power is brilliantly detailed in James B. Stewart's must-read account of the Michael Eisner years "DisneyWar," just announced during an earnings report that "Toy Story 4" would be hitting screens on June 16th, 2017. And what's more: original "Toy Story" director John Lasseter is returning to helm the new film.
There are, of course, a couple of things to keep in mind here.
First of all, the "Toy Story" gang (led by Tom Hanks's Woody and Tim Allen's Buzz Lightyear) haven't exactly been absent from our hearts. Since "Toy Story 3," the supposed swansong, was released in the summer of 2010 and made us all cry like tiny babies, the characters have taken center stage in three short films ("Hawaiian Vacation" and the painfully hilarious "Small Fry" in 2011 and "Partysaurus Rex" in 2012) and two half-hour...

Toy Story of Terror picks up after the events of Toy Story 3, following everyone's favorite gang of animated inanimate objects as they endure a spooky night in a motel where a mysterious figure keeps picking them off one by one. The longest Toy Story short film to date, it first aired on TV last fall as a Halloween special and now it's finally hitting home video for us collectors out there. Not only is it a treat just to see some old friends again, but Toy Story of Terror also introduces us to a few new characters, most notably a one-handed action figure named Combat Carl (voiced by Carl Weathers), who we are definitely hoping pops back up in the Toy Story universe at some point in the future. The disc also comes with three other short films (Small Fry, Hawaiian Vacation...

Chicago – Was “Toy Story 3” the last great Pixar production? With the modest critical reaction to “Cars 2,” “Brave,” and “Monsters University,” it seems an entirely defensible position to take. In fact, one could easily argue that “Small Fry,” the “Toy Story” short that premiered with “The Muppets,” and “Partysaurus Rex,” which played with “Finding Nemo 3D,” should be considered higher on the Pixar hierarchy than “Cars 2” and maybe even “Brave.”
And so Pixar’s first TV special comes at a unique time in the company’s legacy. Will viewers see this as further cashing-in by a studio accused of giving up creative spark for commercial prospects? Or will they embrace a return to Pixar characters that actually work? I hope it’s the latter. “Toy Story of Terror,” premiering tonight on ABC, is clever, fun, and way more enjoyable than nearly anything that has aired on network TV this new season.

There’s a lot to be excited for if you’re a Toy Story fan, despite the fact that Woody and Buzz and the rest of Andy’s toys bid a tearful farewell way back in 2010. We’ve already had three shorts since then, in the shape of Hawaiian Vacation, Small Fry and Partysaurus Rex, and now we’re on the eve of the first of two 22 minute features, Toy Story Of Terror, which will screen on ABC tomorrow and in the UK on Sky Movies.
The feature promises no compromise on the production values, since the team behind it are all Pixar (and not something awful like Circle 7) and the feature hasn’t been overly rushed to the screen.
If the soundtrack is anything to go by, Toy Story Of Terror is an ode to traditional mystery chillers – the title track sounds a lot like it takes its leads from the Psycho theme,...

Timed nicely ahead of Halloween at the end of the month, Pixar’s Toy Story of Terror! will be premiering on ABC in the Us next week, and things are really looking good for the upcoming animated short.
Clocking in at thirty minutes in length, it’s a television special, rather than an official short, and it’s always nice to see Pixar moving in new directions, particularly with a franchise as beloved as Toy Story.
And with just a matter of days before it airs in the States, Pixar has launched the first clip, giving a great little preview of the terrors to come.

The first of two twenty-two minute Toy Story TV shorts, Toy Story Of Terror, (say that three times fast) arrives on ABC in the Us on Wednesday the 16th of October.
Made by Pixar's California studio, not the Vancouver satellite tasked with producing Pixar spin-off short films, Toy Story Of Terror comes directed by Pixar stalwart Angus MacLane, who recently helmed shorts Burn-e and Small Fry.
Michael Giacchino has composed the score for the film, which sees the toys on a Halloween road trip that takes an unexpected turn. "On a detour leading them to a roadside motel, one of the toys goes missing, and the others find themselves caught in an eerie turn of events that must be stopped before they suffer the same fate.

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a professional Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (Mu). But during his first semester at Mu, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot Mu legacy James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.
Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar’s Monsters University is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”), produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and executive produced by John Lasseter.

Anyone who thought that Disney/Pixar's "Toy Story" franchise would really be kaput following "Toy Story 3" (a movie that practically crow-barred tears out of even the most hardened misanthrope) were, of course, out of their collective minds. Since the third film was released, we've had three dazzling theatrical short films ("Hawaiian Vacation," "Small Fry," and "Partysaurus Rex") and idle chatter of a fourth film. And come Halloween, we'll get something even more special – a 22-minute TV special called "Toy Story of Terror," the first image of which debuted today. Also, former Pixar director Brenda Chapman weighs in on the controversy surrounding her "Brave" character Merida becoming an official Disney Princess. The first image from the special – featuring Woody (Tom Hanks) and Jessie (Joan Cusack) huddled around a ominously glow-in-the-dark Buzz (Tim Allen) – is appropriately atmospheric, and along with the image, some details have emerged about the special's tone and plot.

Pixar Animation has announced that they will be releasing a new Toy Story short for Halloween called Toy Story of Terror. The image above gives us our first look at what's in store for fans. What's great about this short is that it's going to be longer than the previous Toy Story shorts that have been released. This one will be 30-minutes long. The short was directed by Angus MacLane (Small Fry). Here's a short description:
Bonnie is on a road trip to go see grandma with her mom and the toys are in the trunk. Mom gets a flat tire and they have to spend the night at a motel and all kinds of chaos ensues.
The director explains that Jessie will be the main character of this short but that all the other characters will be in it as well. Oh! And the original voice cast will be returning to reprise their roles.

What can you say about the great Tom Hanks that hasn’t already been said? Since the early 1980s the Californian born actor, producer, writer, director has established himself as one of the most successful and popular Hollywood personalities of all time. His career has taken many turns, from comedic lead to Award winning movie star and almost everything Hanks touches turns to gold, and his clout in Hollywood is one that few people enjoy. With two Oscars for Best Actor under his belt, and a plethora of memorable performances in equally memorable films, there isn’t much that Tom Hanks, Hollywood’s most likeable everyman, can’t do.
In the sweeping historical sci-fi epic Cloud Atlas, (opening in UK cinemas today) Hanks takes his skill to a whole new level. Hanks anchors the film playing 6 different characters within a 400 year time span, and each performance is one to marvel at.

The Movie Pool takes a long look at the short films of Pixar from their new Blu-ray!

Short films from Pixar, many featuring characters from the studio's feature fims, are presented.

This second collection of short films from Pixar features 12 cartoons in stunning high definition. Many of the shorts were previously available on Pixar home video releases (including "Hawaiian Vacation" and "Air Mater"), and three are Academy Award nominees.
What we get in Volume 2 of the series is an eclectic mix of styles and approaches, and for the most part, it all works well. While some are mildly amusing, others (like "Day and Night") are exceptional, that entertain and manage to be original.
The shorts included in the collection are:
"Your Friend the Rat" Ratatouille's Remy and Emile provide the disgusting yet funny history of rats. Director Jim Capobianco and production designer Nate Wragg provide an optional audio commentary.

Chicago – The second volume of shorts created by the most influential and creatively important studio of the last twenty years was recently released on Blu-ray and it’s undeniable that a few of these mini-films are simply better than their full-length competition. Some Oscar-nominated and some including beloved characters, this may not be as obvious a holiday choice as “Brave” or “Finding Nemo,” but “Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 2” is one of the best family Blu-ray releases of the holiday season.

Pixar has become as known for its shorts as it has for its feature films, and the second release of a collection of these shorts is now available.
This time around, the featured titles consist of the shorts that played in front of theatrical titles, as well as short films featuring the cast from such movies as Up, Toy Story, and Wall•E. Though the collection itself does not come with a lot of bonuses, you do get some student films from the directors, and commentaries.
As with any Pixar release, the Blu-Ray does make a significant difference. I haven’t actually watched things like La Luna or Day & Night on a standard DVD, but I shudder at what gets lost, especially after seeing how they look here. That’s standard info though, and detailing the quality of the Blu-Ray is probably more than is necessary to anyone’s decision.

You can pick that up right here. In addition to that, Amazon is having a pre-Black Friday Deals Week, which you can learn more about here. Now let's get to this week's new releases. Lawrence of Arabia I did not receive a review copy of this title, though I did try, which tells me I have either been shunned by Sony or my email is going in the Junk Mail box on the opposite side of the digital spectrum. Oh well, it looks like I will be adding it to my Wish List as I really do love Lawrence of Arabia and owning it on Blu-ray would be excellent, though it's...

If you missed checking out Pixar’s Finding Nemo 3-D in theaters last month (and, if so, what is wrong with you? do you hate fun things? and laughter? and colors? and love?), you also missed out on seeing the full version of Pixar’s newest short, Partysaurus Rex. Well, unless you happened to be hanging around the Disney Channel on Monday night, when the short had its television premiere, but that’s neither here nor there really (false). What we’re trying to say is, hey! Partysaurus Rex is now available for your full watching enjoyment, so let’s do that! The third Pixar short film to use Toy Story characters – we’ve previously seen Hawaiian Vacation (which showed with Cars 2) and Small Fry (which was paired with The Muppets) – Partysaurus Rex stars Wallace Shawn‘s lovable bipedal worrier, Rex, as he attempts to cut loose during bathtime with Bonnie and some new friends. It...

Well here's a rare treat from the usually money hungry Disney/Pixar. While we would have fully expected the short "Partysaurus Rex" -- which unspooled in front of screenings for "Finding Nemo 3D" -- to only be available in the eventual home video release for the converted movie, the studio has gone ahead and thrown it online. Nice. The seven-minute movie finds Wallace Shawn reprising his role as Rex, and this time we find the toy dinosaur in the tub with Bonnie, along with a bunch of new friends, and a party comes to life. Simple and straightforward. Pixar heads will notice a few nods to other movies under the animation banner, and the entire affair is directed by Mark Walsh and bounces to a score by electronic artist BT. The short continues Pixar's branding of "Toy Story" long past the "finale" of "Toy Story 3," with the characters also...

Following in the footsteps of Hawaiian Vacation and Small Fry, Disney and Pixar showcased their short film Partysaurus Rex in front of Finding Nemo in 3D, continuing the exploits of Andy's toys from Toy Story, who are now living with the adorable Bonnie. Now the full short is online for your viewing pleasure. It's bathtub playtime an Rex gets a chance to shed his party-pooper past when he meets up with the rest of Bonnie's bathtime toys. As expected, it's a cute, funny little short film, and there's a great Godzilla scream from Rex (voiced by Wallace Shawn of The Princess Bride), but it ends a little abruptly. Watch it below! Here's Disney and Pixar's new animated short Partysaurus Rex from Disney (via SlashFilm): Partysaurus Rex is directed by Mark A. Walsh, a Pixar animator on films like The Incredibles, Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo and Ratatouille. When...

In 1981, Walt Disney Pictures released Condorman, a comedy/adventure film centered around a cartoonist (Michael Crawford) who begins to believe he’s a costumed hero and assists a female Russian secret agent in defecting to the United States safely.
Although the film wasn’t too successful and was hit hard by critics, today it’s remembered fondly by Disney geeks (myself included, of course) as a decent concept that was perhaps executed poorly.
Though no one ever thought that the hero would be back on the big screen, Moviehole is reporting that Disney may be interested in remaking Condorman and they’re looking at Robert Pattinson to play the lead role. They’re also considering shifting the genre from comedy to action.
Disney is well-aware of the film’s current status too. They’ve brought the Condorman costume and props to Comic-Con and the Pixar Toy Story Toons short “Small Fry...

Most fans accepted that Toy Story 3 would have to be the end of the line for Pixar's greatest cast of characters, but it seems the animation house has found a way to keep the characters alive without trying to outdo the third and final masterpiece. Toy Story of Terror will be a made-for-tv special released for Halloween 2013, following on from the Hawaiin Vacation short that run alongside Cars 2, and the even shorter shorts, Small Fry and Partysaurus Rex. Indeed, Pixar will release two 22-minute specials over the next two years, with the first being the Halloween-themed Toy Story Of Terror.

Pixar employee Timothy Hahn and Brooklyn-based director Keith Boynton created an animated music video for Darlingside's song "The Ancestor." Despite being only a few minutes long, the visually stunning short/music video manages to chart one man's journey from death into the afterlife and beyond - exploring ideas of love, loss and rebirth. The song and the video mutually benefit one another; while the Darlingside song's sound and lyrics bring life to Hahn and Boynton's creation, the picture that the video paints allows the underlying themes of the song to shine. Hahn, who produced the video, is now able to tack "The Ancestor" onto his list of credits, which includes working as script coordinator on "Small Fry," a "Toy Story" short, and as production coordinator on "Air Mater," a "Cars" short, both in 2011. Hahn also worked on the Pixar shorts "Time Travel Mater" and "Partysaurus Rex,"...

When "Finding Nemo" premieres theatrically in a newly 3D-ized form in September, it will come with a special treat – a brand new "Toy Story" short called "Partysaurus Rex." As we detailed last week, the plot concerns our favorite nebbish dinosaur, Tex (Wallace Shawn), who befriends Bonnie's bath toys and reshapes himself as a party-starting club impresario. Today Disney has released the first clip from the highly anticipated short (the third in a series of "Toy Story" short films that included the Ken-and-Barbie-centered "Hawaiian Vacation" and "Small Fry," about discarded kids meal toys), and it looks like soapy, sudsy fun. The brief 30-second clip shows the beginning of the big splashy party with Rex, emboldened with the fact that he actually has arms (that little slap of determination when his claws come together is a terrifically funny detail), getting the water started in the bathtub. The bath toys, in...

As I noted back in July, the upcoming Toy Story toon that will be hitting theaters is titled "Partysaurus Rex" and at that time I forgot all about the 3D re-release of Finding Nemo, which this short will play in front of on September 14. The short serves as the third in the Toy Story Toons line on the heels of Hawaiian Vacation and Small Fry and centers on Rex (voiced by Wallace Shawn), the T-rex toy that Buzz, Woody and the rest of the "Toy Story" gang consider just a wet blanket, but when Bonnie takes him to bath time, he goes from a party pooper to king of the tub! Creating a bubble bash like no other, everyone's raving about the Partysaurus Rex! Partysaurus Rex features a score from electronic artist BT and you get a taste of it in the following sneak peek clip. Give it a watch.

Pixar Animation Studios continues the legacy of their most popular franchise with a series of short films that follows the adventures of Woody, Buzz and the Toy Story gang in the care of their new owner Bonnie. Rex gets drafted for bath time and encounters a sad lot of rub-a-dub-dub cohorts. As the only available toy with limbs, Rex puts his tiny arms to good use by turning on the water and getting the party going for those dried-out toys on his own – which leads to a sort of bubble-filled rave, complete with glow-in-the-dark toys making disco lights under an overturned colander and dance music by Grammy-nominated electronica musician BT. While rumours of a fourth Toy Story film remain just that the Emeryville massive have been busy with Woody, Buzz and the gang.
If there’s one good thing about the 3D reworking of the Pixar classics it is that we’ll get to see more of the famously wonderful short films which precede each of their films and before we return to the big blue for Finding Nemo 3D we’ll see Partysaurus Rex, the third Toy Story short film. This follows Hawaiian Vacation (which played in front of Cars 2) and Small Fry (which we enjoyed before The Muppets) and focuses, obviously, on everyone’s favourite plastic dinosaur.
The reinvention of Rex is the theme for this one as EW note with director Mark Walsh explaining,

Today's batch of MPAA ratings are a little light, but one in particular caught my eye. The title Partysaurus Rex will be the third Toy Story Toons short to come from Pixar on the heels of Hawaiian Vacation and Small Fry. I can only assume it will play in front of Monsters University on June 21, 2013 since Paperman will play in front of Wreck-It Ralph this November. As far as the storyline, electronic artist BT is working on the score for the short, which should give you some clue as to what it's about. In an interview (watch it here) he gave some hints saying, "I'm in the middle of scoring a film for Pixar right now. It's a short for Toy Story and I'm not allowed to say the whole story, but quite literally, it's like a Toy Story rave - and I'm actually not kidding either. The toys get...

It’s more than possible, and for those that hate the idea of another Toy Story film (because who’d want to see 4 consecutive Great movies – though I have to admit that the end we got in theaters was a pretty epic experience) you will be relieved that if true, its only in the Toy Story short form ala Hawaiian Vacation and Small Fry which were attached to Cars 2 and the recent Muppets film. These versions, according to Disney’s Catalog would not be quite as short, and would actually be full blown 22-minute cartoon episodes.
The catalog also lists two dates, one for October 2013 and other in the Spring of 2014. Obviously, Pixar would have a lot of options regarding where these Toy Story Toons would call their home, from ABC, Disney Channel, and more. I’m pretty much there for wherever.

In March, a Buzz Lightyear toy that spent almost a year and a half orbiting the Earth on the International Space Station was formally inducted into the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. But that’s not the coolest part.

I, Christopher Forrest O'Hara, solemnly swear that tonight's episode "The Broath" was one of my favorites of the season! Absence makes the heart grow fonder, but tonight's installment would have rocked my world at any given point. It had it all. We were treated to a diabolical scheme by Barney with Quinn's help, a fake history flashback, some tumultuous and tender moments between Marshall and Lily and lastly some plot development mixed into the emotional scenes shared by Ted and Robin.
Barney's got a monk guy, of course he does. I loved the attention to detail there with the original bro chant. Barney was on fire this week and I guess we had Quinn to thank for that. He hasn't been this happy in some time now and it showed with all the Barney-isms and catch phrases we were treated to. Self five, Broman Times, sealed with a kiss, even...

Disney has released new image from Pixar's new Toy Story short film Small Fry, which will be released with The Muppets on November 23rd. The story centers on Buzz Lightyear who gets replaced by a pint-sized impostor. From the pictures we've seen, this is definitley going to be a cute short.
As we previously reported... Blame it all on toy envy as a Happy Meal-type toy at a fast-food restaurant yearns to break out of his display case to play like a real toy. He kidnaps Buzz Lightyear in an attempt to take over his play-filled existence.
Writer director Angus MacLane talked about the film in an interview saying,
It's like the Prince and the Pauper tale for toys," says writer/director Angus MacLane. "Except one of them happens to be 3 inches tall.
These toys' existence is about being really popular before the meal and then being totally forgotten about.
