The married couple held hands as they arrived at the premiere of Magpie held during FrightFest 24 on Friday (November 1) held at the Odeon Luxe West End in London, England.

For their outing, Daisy wore an off-green dress while Tom sported a gray shirt over a white tank shirt paired with olive green pants.

The world’s largest college-run film festival, the Scad Savannah film festival, returns to Georgia Oct. 26 with its consistently eclectic programming mix of documentaries, box office hits, indies, animated films, short films and more.

“Scad honors the screen’s brightest stars, from Annette Bening to Lupita Nyong’o to Richard Linklater,” says Scad President and founder Paula Wallace. “Come for the stars and stay for a tour of Scad’s recently expanded Savannah Film Studios backlot… glitz, glamour, and good films.”

This year’s programming includes of Steve McQueen’s “Blitz” and Pablo Larrain’s “Maria” as well as a centerpiece screening of Robbie Williams’ unconventional biopic “Better Man.” The festival will also screen “Emilia Peréz,” Jacques Audiard’s musical drama which won the Jury Prize at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, and a 35mm print of Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist,” which netted the filmmaker the Silver Lion for directing in Venice earlier this year.

FandomWire: One of my favorite things about Magpie is that it subverts the classic trope of the femme fatale. How do you think the film challenges the audience’s expectations in this way?

Tom Bateman: I’m so glad you picked up on that because it was one of the initial driving forces behind me really loving this idea that Daisy had.

He made his feature debut as a film director with the erotic thriller Magpie, starring Daisy Ridley (Star Wars) and Shazad Latif (Profile) as a couple who finds themselves on unsteady ground.

“I wanted to make it something personal, rather than just cool-sounding and generic,” James Norton explains when asked about Rabbit Track Pictures, the film and TV production company he runs with Kitty Kaletsky. “I went through all these halcyon films and stuff, but actually, the rabbit track, for me, was somewhere as a child at the back of my garden. From the moment I can remember, it was the place where we were allowed to roam, and adventures would happen. It was fun and wild and feral.”

The name was chosen before Kaletsky came on board, but the production company has since been a joint enterprise. Kaletsky — formerly of Number 9 Films, Archery Pictures and Black Bear — often handles the day-to-day operations, notably when Norton is filming.

The married couple stepped out to attend the Miu Miu show on Tuesday (October 1) in Paris, France.

Daisy and Tom met while working on the 2017 movie Murder on the Orient Express and she confirmed their marriage in 2023.

Earlier this year, Daisy starred in the movie Magpie, which marked Tom‘s debut as a screenwriter.

“I found that process wonderful because our tastes align on basically everything,” Daisy said of working with Tom. “I think he’s a brilliant writer and we were so clear about what it is that we wanted to make. And we’ve achieved that.”

Legendary Hollywood icons Annette Bening, Richard Linklater, and Jerry Bruckheimer will be celebrated at the 2024 Scad Savannah Film Festival.

The Savannah College of Art and Design (Scad) has announced its first list of honorees for the 2024 festival, which will take place from October 26 to November 2. This year, “Nyad” star Bening’s legacy will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The ceremony will take place after a screening of Bening’s 1990 film “The Grifters.”

Similarly, “Hit Man” writer/director Linklater will receive the Lifetime Achievement in Screenwriting Award, with the Netflix film screening at the festival.

Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley revealed in a new interview with Women’s Health that she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease last September after experiencing concerning symptoms. The 29-year-old British star, best known for portraying Rey in the blockbuster sci-fi franchise, initially dismissed hot flashes, weight loss and fatigue while filming her psychological thriller Magpie.

“I thought I just felt poorly due to the stress of such an intense role,” Ridley told the magazine. Daisy Ridley has revealed she has been diagnosed with Graves’ disease.

In her cover story for Women’s Heath, the Star Wars actress shared she was told she has the autoimmune disorder last September. Ridley realized there was something wrong with her health while filming the thriller Magpie, about a woman losing control as her relationship with her husband crumbles.

“I thought, ‘Well, I’ve just played a really stressful role; presumably that’s why I feel poorly,'” the actress recalled. Her general practitioner encouraged her to visit an endocrinologist after experiencing symptoms such as a racing heart rate, weight loss, fatigue and tremors.

When the doctor described that Graves’ can make you feel “tired but wired,” this clicked for Ridley. “It was funny, I was like, ‘Oh, I just thought I was annoyed at the world,’ but turns out everything is functioning so quickly, you can’t chill out.

Moonflower Murders, the Masterpiece follow up to Magpie Murders, has a release date: The second series chronicling a mystery solved by Susan Ryeland (Lesley Manville) and the fictional Atticus Pünd (Tim McMullan) will premiere September 15 on PBS.

Masterpiece also dropped the first trailer for the series. The action, which is based on Anthony Horowitz’s best-selling novel of the same name, takes place after the events of Magpie Murders, the hit series shown on PBS in 2022. More than 5.5 million viewers watched Magpie Murders and the series has been streamed over 3.1 million times.

Directed by Joachim Rønning, the biographical drama about legendary swimmer Gertrude “Trudy” Ederle is the highest testing film of Jerry Bruckheimer’s storied producorial career that includes the likes of Top Gun: Maverick, Beverly Hills Cop and Flashdance. Originally slated for a Disney+ exclusive release, Ridley and co. were rewarded with a limited theatrical run that begins on May 31. Such upgrades don’t come easy given the costs associated with theatrical exhibition, but as Rønning put it, Bruckheimer was “relentless” in his successful pursuit.

The SXSW premiere follows a couple who find their lives turned upside down when their daughter is cast in a film alongside a controversial major star.

Exclusive: Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee’s Thunder Road (John Wick) is partnering with longtime Screen Gems executive Scott Strauss to launch Badlands.

Backed by Andrew Schwartzberg and Jon Shiffman’s Renegade Capital, the independent genre label will feature development and co-fi funds and plans to make two to three films per year.

First up for the new venture will be Arachnid, starring Matilda Lutz. Written by Jayson Rothwell (Underworld: Blood Wars) and directed by Ángel Gómez (Voces), the spider thriller is due to begin filming this July in Madrid. Altitude Film Sales will introduce the film to buyers in Cannes next week, with CAA Media Finance handling domestic rights.

Rothwell, Schwartzberg, Shiffman, Peter Welter, Alexandra Milchan, and Josh Weinstock are part of the Arachnid producing team.
