This is what every web series should strive to be. You can tell Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer put a ton of work into this and it really paid off. The beginning episodes are a little rough around the edges, but with persistence, the episodes got better and better. Eventually having a season 2 finale with Amy Poehler which would propel them a deal with Comedy Central.
Many young writers and filmmakers can learn a lot from watching these. I know I have with my web series, "Romantically Hopeless." Abbi and Ilana found their voice by doing this web series. And the brand of comedy and voice they created generated one of the best TV shows of the past 10 years.
What makes this web series so appreciable is the subject matter, dedication, chemistry, and humor. They had some killer jokes. It also helped that the episodes were never too long. They are all relatively short and easy to watch which is how web series should be.
There's a lot of time and energy that goes into any web series. "Broad City" had 23 episodes in 15 months which is a lot. It shows you how diligent and devoted Abbi and Illana were. And they inspire many of us to go the distance.
