The idea for the film came from an existential crisis that the director and protagonist Selton Mello lived in 2009, when he was dissatisfied as an actor, and gave rise to a plot about the rite of passage.
Based in part on the poem O Tédio (O Médico e o Palhaço) de Heinrich Heine, adapted by M. de Oliveira.

Actors Selton Mello and Danton Mello are brothers in real life. In this film, they play rivals for the love of the character Ana, in the small town of Passos in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais.
