The official entry of Brazil to the Best Foreign Language Film at the 85th Academy Awards 2013.
The idea for the film came from an existential crisis that the director and protagonist Selton Mello lived in 2009, when he was dissatisfied as an actor, and gave rise to a plot about the rite of passage.
Based in part on the poem O Tédio (O Médico e o Palhaço) de Heinrich Heine, adapted by M. de Oliveira.
After an existential crisis in 2009 and inspired by the poem by Heinrich Heine, director and actor Selton Mello decided to create this film.
Actors Selton Mello and Danton Mello are brothers in real life. In this film, they play rivals for the love of the character Ana, in the small town of Passos in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais.
