After she is disowned by her bullying father Ted (Robert Glenister) and forced to leave home, teenage fashion model Jean Shrimpton (Karen Gillan) and her boyfriend cocky photographer David Bailey (Aneurin Barnard) are chosen by Lady Clare Rendlesham (Helen McCrory) the snobbish editor of the "Vogue" fashion magazine sends the couple to New York for a photo shoot. But, Bailey clashes with Lady Rendlesham when Bailey defies her orders and Lady Rendlesham does not approve of his unorthodox skills with a camera and demands that he is dismissed from the magazine. But, things begin to change when Vogue editor Alisa Garland (Louise Gold) approves of Bailey's work and ignores Lady Rendlesham's demand to fire Bailey and it leads Jean and Bailey to achieve fame and forming one of the most famous partnerships of the 1960s.
