In Philippines, two girlfriends go to a fast food and order two dishes of chicken. They eat and the leftovers go to the garbage. During the night, a man collects the garbage and select leftovers to feed his family, neighbors and stray animals.
"Chicken a La Carte" is a short that exposes the heartbreaking reality of the Third World or Developing Countries, where there is a great number of hungry people. In accordance with the statistics, Asia is home to two out of three of the world's undernourished people. You also can see starved people collecting food from the garbage of restaurants in Rio. The irony is that the managers and owners cannot donate the leftovers to these people since the stringent laws may harm their business once they would be the responsible for any health problem that could be caused by the food. My vote is eight.
