Terrence Beasor, a veteran character and voice-over actor best known for Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, The Gods Must Be Crazy and recurring roles on The Middle and Raising Hope, has died. He was 89.

A rep said Beasor died May 28 at his home in Santa Monica with his wife of 55-plus years, actress Muriel Minot, by his side.

Beasor appeared on dozens of TV shows during his 40-year career, including The Incredible Hulk, The Greatest American Hero, The A-Team, Hardcastle and McCormick, Hill Street Blues, Cheers, L.A. Law, Dynasty, Hunter, Knot’s Landing, Simon & Simon, Police Squad!, Chicago Hope, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Scandal, Angie Tribeca, The Grinder, Hot In Cleveland, Scrubs, Gilmore Girls, The District, Suddenly Susan, Days of Our Lives and Murder, She Wrote.

Exclusive: Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) has signed on to star in My One and Only, a psychological thriller from writer-director Wayne Kramer (The Cooler) that’s being presented for worldwide sales at Cannes by Film Bridge International.

Set to go before cameras in July, the film centers on Molly (Hale), a recently widowed young woman, suicidal with grief, who is abducted by a man intent on reinventing her as his dead wife — unleashing in Molly a fierce will to live.

Siena Oberman (The Good Mother) will produce for Artemis along with Steven Schneider and David Guglielmo (The Last Stop in Yuma County) for Spooky Pictures. Unspoken tells the story of Xu (Zhang), an estranged father separated from his deaf daughter and her new life at an American university, whose murder reunites them in a way neither could have foreseen. The tragedy pierces Xu with grief and guilt that he couldn’t be present to protect his child. An ex-cop himself, he becomes convinced the local authorities are pursuing the wrong suspect – and that racism is compromising the investigation.

With a young Chinese translator in tow (Tien), who is navigating her own challenging path as a young immigrant, Xu sets out to learn what really happened to his daughter.

Exclusive: Actor and former Navy Seal Remi Adeleke has signed a three-book deal with HarperCollins imprint William Morrow for a series of thrillers.

Quentin Tarantino revealed during his appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” this week that his working relationship with Harvey Weinstein got off to a rocky start once Miramax became the distributor of his feature directorial debut “Reservoir Dogs.” Weinstein allegedly wanted to remove the film’s torture scene, which Tarantino admitted always led to walkouts during “Reservoir Dogs” film festival screenings. The scene, in which Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen) tortures a police officer (Kark Baltz) by slashing his face and cutting his ear off (all set to Stealers Wheel’s “Stuck in the Middle with You”), is the film’s most famous sequence.

Netflix’s nostalgia-saturated sci-fi series “Stranger Things” thrilled fans and broke Netflix viewing records when it roared back in summer 2019 with a triumphant season three set in 1985.

Besides the SAG Award-winning ensemble that viewers came to know over the first two seasons, “Stranger Things” season three introduced new characters. One addition was Robin, played by relative newcomer Maya Hawke, one of Variety’s 2019 Actors to Watch. Robin became a foil for the perpetually pompadoured Steve (Joe Keery).

Composers Andy Grush and Taylor Stewart, aka The Newton Brothers, score Stx Entertainment’s supernatural horror thriller, The Bye Bye Man.

The film stars Douglas Smith, Lucien Laviscount, Cressida Bonas and Doug Jones. Directed by Stacy Title and written by Jonathan Penner, “The Bye Bye Man” follows the story of three college students move into an old, off-campus house. They quickly find themselves hunted by a supernatural entity called The Bye Bye Man who may be responsible for possessing various people and causing them to commit killing sprees throughout recent history. The students discover the origins of the Bye Bye Man and find that there is only one way to avoid his curse: don’t say or think his name, because once the Bye Bye Man gets inside your head, he takes control.

We have a list of the new Hulu movies and shows arriving in October 2018.

Happy Huluween!

Hulu is blessed to have a name that sounds roughly enough like "Hallow." That means it's basically honor-bound to bring the heat for Halloween. Thankfully for the October 2018 new releases, Hulu is bringing us the spookies that we need. The Blair Witch Project, The Others, and Child's Play all arrive this month. And if you're looking for some more wholesome creepies, The Nightmare Before Christmas should do. And if that weren't enough, Hulu is debuting its own horror show - anthology series Into the Dark.

For those shamefully unable to get into the Halloween spirit, Hulu is bringing in some other fun film options. Galaxy Quest, Music and Lyrics, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective should help out with that.

Then of course, are the usual and typically deep TV offerings.

At this year’s FrightFest the director of Spanish time travelling horror Timecrimes returned with cyber action-thriller Open Windows and comedy-horror Extraterrestrial. If that was not enough, Nacho Vigalondo also returned to the horror anthology following a first tour of duty on the ABC’S of Death, with the Parallel Monsters segment for the ongoing V/H/S found footage series –V/H/S Viral.

For the sake of dramatic escalation we suspect ahead of Nick (Elijah Wood) that not all is above board with the competition he’s won to dine with film star Jill Godard (Sasha Grey), or the reason for its cancellation. Mystery not being the precedence here, it is where this event leads that is of concern, and unfortunately for Nick it leads into his own personalised cyber nightmare where he unwittingly becomes the actress’ stalker.

Since cancelling our cable subscription, at my house we are often at a loss for what to watch. We have every imaginable streaming service, but I feel like all of that variety makes it even harder to narrow down what we would like to watch. I’m often so bombarded with review copies of things that I seldom have a chance to watch what I “want” to watch in the first place, so wasting time choosing something on Netflix/Hulu/Hbogo/Amazon Instant is even more infuriating. Sometimes I wish somebody would just tell me what to watch. Please note that this is no kind of “Top” list. These movies are not ranked. This is just a list of 4 horror films currently on Netflix instant that I feel must be watched by fans of the genre. Casting News for Recovery: “Kirby Bliss Blanton (The Green Inferno, Project X) and Samuel Larsen (“Glee”) have been cast in the upcoming thriller “Recovery”, starting production this summer. The film follows Blanton’s character on the night of her high school graduation after her iPhone is stolen and tracked down with a “find my iPhone” app to a house where the demented tenants plan on kidnapping her and making her part of the family. Alex Shaffer (Win Win) and James Landry Hébert (Two Step, Gangster Squad) are also on board to star.

Described as the horror version of The Expendables, "Dukes of Hazzard" star John Schneider's Smothered is noteworthy for boasting the largest number of horror icons ever to grace the screen at the same time, which is a claim that certainly grabs hold of our attention.

After the tragic death of Paul Walker on Saturday, there has been a tremendous outpouring of grief and memories of the late actor, heralding his qualities as a friend and father. But one colleague, Wayne Kramer, who directed him in 2006′s Running Scared, wants the world to know about Walker, the consummate actor. Fast and the Furious star Paul Walker has died, aged 40.

The actor passed away following a car crash in Santa Clarita, California, his publicist confirmed.

Walker was the passenger in a Porsche when the driver, former racer Roger Rodas, lost control and hit a lamp post. The vehicle then burst into flames.

Both Walker and Rodas were pronounced dead at the scene following the collision, which happened around a fundraiser for the star's charity organisation Reach Out Worldwide. The event was held at car customisation store Always Evolving, which they co-owned.

A statement on Walker's Facebook page read: "He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives.

The Movie Gods haven’t been gentle to Wayne Kramer the past few years. After his critical darling The Cooler and a recent cult favorite Running Scared, Kramer ran into some trouble. He went through hell trying to keep Crossing Overtogether after Harvey Weinstein stripped it down to the “important” soft picture Kramer didn’t intend to make. Origin Releasing recently acquired film rights to the Bigfoot War book series by Eric S. Brown. Production on Bigfoot Wars is expected to begin next month and the main cast has just been announced. Brian Jaynes (Humans Versus Zombies, Boggy Creek) is directing from a script by Andrea Doss, Frederic Doss, and Jacob Mauldin.

A group of people may be pawning far more than they bargained for in the 2013 Southern-fried action-comedy film Pawn Shop Chronicles.

The film offers three tales that are all connected by items found in a Southern small-town pawn shop. In the first, a group of strung-out, white-supremacist meth heads (Contraband‘s Lukas Haas and Fast Five‘s Paul Walker) attempt to rob a meth lab; the second finds a newly remarried man (Matt Dillon, Armored) desperately searching for his kidnapped wife; and the third zeroes in on an Elvis impersonator (Brendan Fraser, Journey to the Center of the Earth) trying to make sense of the strange goings-on at the carnival where he struggles to find an audience who enjoys his act.

Tossed into theaters with little fanfare, Pawn Shop Chronicles was dreamed up as a “hillbilly Pulp Fiction” that saw three stories swing in and out of one pawn shop in rural somewhere-or-other. It’s probably still on a few screens, but it’s also getting a DVD/Blu-ray release on August 27th, and it looks like the kind of thing that might thrive on home video. There’s an alternate reality somewhere, wherein “Pawn Shop Chronicles” is not released in theaters on July 12th, but instead is projected on the wall of a small, narrow hallway in Comic-Con, never to be heard from again. Somehow, a cast of capable, popular actors show up in what seems like the very last vestiges of early aughts direct-to-dvd Tarantino bite-offs, a movie not so much directed as punched into existence by director Wayne Kramer. Once considered a promising filmmaking voice (his “The Cooler” netted Alec Baldwin an Academy Award nomination once upon a time), Kramer is now reduced to essaying a flippant grotesquerie that carries the names of nineteen producers and executive producers, the primary one appears to be Fred Durst. “Pawn Shop Chronicles” concerns three stories of varying degrees of taste that center around a dusty, middle-of-nowhere bric-a-brac exchange in the Deep South. All stories are superficially linked through the non-involvement of Vincent.

The type of third-rate Quentin Tarantino crime saga that lost its luster in the late '90s, Pawn Shop Chronicles presents three intersecting vignettes about Southern-fried crazies, all of whom we meet in the pawn shop owned by Vincent D'Onofrio's laid-back loan artist. Director Wayne Kramer (Running Scared, Crossing Over) makes plain his cartoon-comedy intentions early and often via comic-book-panel-style title cards. I think at one point director Wayne Kramer was supposed to be a pretty big-time director. He did “Running Scared” with Paul Walker after coming over from music videos in 2006, and followed that up with the ensemble drama “Crossing Over” in 2009. Neither of those movies really caught on, but he’s back with 2013′s “Pawn Shop Chronicles”, which despite its heavy and rather impressive looking ensemble cast, is only getting a limited theatrical showing along with a VOD release. I can kinda see why this movie isn’t going big, though.
