Ki & Ka has taken a good opening at the Box Office. As was predicted, the film was on track to register 40%-50% occupancy on Day One, and this is how the average footfalls turned out to be eventually. The film has collected 7.3 crore on Friday and this is a good start for the Eros and Balki production, considering the genre, release size and target audience that it was aiming for.
This is the biggest opener ever for Balki as Ki & Ka [7.3 crore] on its opening day has collected more than double of Shamitabh [3.5 crore] and is far ahead of Paa [2.15 crore] and Cheeni Kum [which had lifetime total of 17.3 crore]. The film has also taken a bigger opening than a much massy Ghayal Once Again [7.2 crore] and targeted-at-similar-audience Kapoor & Sons [6.85 crore]. The way word of mouth is spreading for the film, the film is set to have the second highest weekend of the year.

The archetypal family dynamic is about to be turned spectacularly on its head this Spring with the release of new ‘dramedy’ Kapoor & Sons, which releases on 18th March 2016 through Fox Star Studios.
Billed as a colourful comedy drama, Kapoor & Sons shines a spotlight on the nuances and intricacies of familial relationships, as it focuses on one particular family whose very fabric seems to be unravelling at the seams with the stresses and strains of modern life.
Already making waves with the release of the first poster, the film brings together an impressive ensemble cast comprising of Sidharth Malhotra (Student of the Year, Brothers), Alia Bhatt (Highway, 2 States), Fawad Khan (Khoobsurat) and veteran actor Rishi Kapoor (Agneepath), who is virtually unrecognisable in the film as the wise old grandfather. The supporting cast boasts the talents of Rajat Kapoor and Ratna Pathak who respectively play Sidharth and Fawad’s parents in the film.

The audience seems not to like the “jodi” composed by Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor. After Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu released in 2012, the two actors joined together again in Gori Tere Pyar Mein, although the film, directed by Punit Malhotra, has failed to seduce the viewers.

However, he also confronted those who held him and Kareena as the responsible for the flop. “When we did Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, people liked the pairing. I think if a film fails everyone has to think about it – be it the writer or director. Everyone needs to analyse the problem area.

Mumbai, Dec 3: Imran Khan teamed for the second time with Kareena Kapoor for "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein", which failed to entice the box office. The actor says instead of blaming just the lead pair, everyone should analyse where the problem lay.
There were reports that it didn't work because Kareena-Imran 'jodi', earlier seen in "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu", didn't go down well with the viewers.

The gorgeous Kareena Kapoor-Khan's career seems to be heading into an exciting new level.
Phase 2 in Kareena Kapoor Khan's career begins now. Post-marriage she seemed to flounder in her choices with her half-hearted crusader's role in Prakash Jha's Satyagraha and the totally inane social activist's role in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.
With Dev Benegal's film entitled Bombay Samurai, Kareena finally seems to have got her post-marriage formula right.
According to sources, the film is, "a crazy zany rollicking roller coaster ride with amazing twists and turns. There are 7-8 pivotal characters. But Kareena and Farhan preside over the show.
They play a couple like no other seen before in our films. They are wacky and unpredictable. The two actors will have a ball playing their outgoing zestful characters."

Redefining a genre is a huge and extremely difficult task but quite possible when you have a strong hold on the story of a film. Even if its with a basic plot and handful of actors. Punit Malhotra has said his latest offering of Gori Tere Pyaar Mein had the capability to do so. This writer is wondering what made him think so after seeing the final product.

It's no secret that foreign countries like to steal/borrow/remake movies from Hollywood and cash in from time to time. Pretty much every country that has a film industry has its own "Star Wars." And if you've never heard of the Turkish "E.T.," well, here. Heck, Hollywood borrows from overseas all the time, too. (See: "The Departed," "Oldboy," almost every horror movie of the last ten years.)
But every so often, a foreign country lifts from Hollywood in a way that defies common sense, either by stealing ideas that weren't great to begin with, sticking with elements that don't translate to overseas markets or making changes that are flat-out perplexing. Here are nine oddball remakes of American movies from around the world.
1. Turkey's 'Captain America' (1973)
The thing about Captain America is he's American. He carries a shield that resembles the American flag. His costume is red, white and blue.

Mumbai, Sep 11: The chance to shoot in a real village for the first time in her career is what attracted actress Kareena Kapoor to her next film, "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein".
"What excited me most was that we were going to be shooting in a village. I don't think I have ever done a film where I actually go to a village. So that part excited me a lot," the 32-year-old said here Tuesday at the first look launch of the film.
This is the second time that Kareena has been paired with Imran Khan. They were earlier seen in the 2012 romantic-comedy "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu".
The actress has donned cotton and bandhini clothes in.

Mumbai, Sep 10: The first look of Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan-starrer "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" is out, and the actress says the movie is totally for the masses.
She says unlike the 2012 film "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu", which saw Kareena and Imran on screen for the first time, "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" is filled with item songs and has a fun quotient about it.
Asked about the experience of working with Imran again, Kareena said: "I think it has been great because I did 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' with Imran. It was so special. It was slightly English, it was not for the masses, it was a classy film. But this is completely the opposite.

New Delhi, Sep 10: Can two people with different objectives in life have a happily ever after? This is what director Punit Malhotra's movie "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" tries to understand, but in a light, slice-of-life and colourful manner.
The trailer of the Karan Johar production was launched Tuesday.
It is full of colour, some rustic flavour and seems to be a typical Bollywood potboiler complete with songs and dance.
"Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu" jodi Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor are back on the big screen with the movie, albeit in a role reversal of sorts.
Here, Imran's character is a party loving and a high-on-life.

Kareena Kapoor certainly has played a myriad of characters over her fabulous career. With each new role she shows another side of her talent and impresses fans all the more. She has done many an amazing character in your classic Bollywood song and dance romance that we love (think Geet of Jab We Met) and we have also seen her shine in the dramatic roles as well like Dolly in Omkara and so many more. For Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha, the actress once again takes on a more dramatic avatar, this time as hard-hitting journalist Yasmin. It was the character and the chance to work with the esteemed director, Kareena tells us, that made her want to take part in the film. See what else she told us in our quick but fabulous chat on all things Satyagraha!

Dharma Productions was established in 1976 by Yash Johar, Karan Johar’s father. In the last 37 years, the film company has become one of the most prominent players when it comes to putting Bollywood cinema on the world map.
KJo’s celluloid ventures — from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) to their latest blockbuster Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (currently enjoying a historic run) — have taken his father’s dream several notches higher. And Dharma’s module of functioning, like a full-fledged film studio, is something many have aspired to follow. But very few have managed it so far.
Says Karan, “Ours is a young company with tall achievements; all of it is my father’s blessings. While we have been growing from strength to strength in each of the last three decades, in the last six years alone, we’ve been able to achieve several milestones. And this is because we have the strongest reserve of filmmakers.
