Disney and 20th Century Studios are officially working hand in hand to bring the 24 movie to the big screen. The Jack Bauer film has been a long-gestating project that experienced multiple delays and a lack of updates. While it has been confirmed to be in the works, it cannot guarantee anything unless they have officially started filming.

Could Jack Bauer be destined to return on the big screen? 20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment are in the early stages of developing a movie based on 24, the acclaimed action-drama TV series starring Kiefer Sutherland.
Imagine Entertainment co-founder Brian Grazer teased the 24 movie (as well as a Backdraft reboot with Glenn Powell) while appearing on MSNBC’s Squawk Box last month. “Imagine has always played in that zone where there is that high probability chance that it will be successful in movie theaters,” Grazer said. “It’s great for us, because we’ve built, over 30 years, over 100 different products and brands, whether it’s ‘Backdraft,’ which I’m now going to do today with Glen Powell, or whether it’s ’24,’ a movie that we’re going to do in a very interesting way with Disney and Fox.“

A film based on 2000s hit TV show 24 is in the works at 20th Century Studios as confirmed by Brian Grazer.
Back in 2002, was there anything better than tuning in to a TV show where Kiefer Sutherland chased bad guys over the course of 24 hours? Probably, but it was still such a treat to watch 24 each week.
Variety now reports that a film based on 24 is in the works over at 20th Century Studios. Imagine Entertainment co-founder Brian Grazer confirmed the project during an appearance on MSNBC’s Squawk Box in June, but the news have only now been picked up.

The X-Files Season 11 was a terrible misfire from Fox. The network has had trouble in creating a decent TV show of late. Fox is notoriously known for their cancelation of fan-favorite shows and instead greenlighting average to bad shows. As the network looks to rebuild its legacy, one show’s revival could be the saving grace for Fox in the television industry.

Kiefer Sutherland’s 24 ran for 9 seasons on the network followed by a short-lived spin-off series, 24: Legacy. Sutherland earlier shared the possibility of bringing back counter-terrorist federal agent Jack Bauer in a revival of the show. Fox could currently benefit from bringing back a critically acclaimed show like 24.

Scott Speedman has won over Grey's Anatomy fans with his performance as Dr. Nick Marsh.
But he might soon be facing much gorier medical emergencies in a new and very different role.
Variety reported today that Speedman has been cast in a lead role on the upcoming Peacock horror series Teacup.
The show is based on a beloved novel by Robert McCammon that's not for the faint of heart.
While the book takes place in Texas, the series follows “a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.”
Speedman will be playing the role of James Chenoweth, alongside Yvonne Strahovski, who will star as his wife, Maggie Chenoweth.
Teacup comes courtesy of Atomic Monsters, the production company founded by James Wan, the director responsible for the Saw and Conjuring franchises.
So yeah, squeamish Grey's fans might want to skip this one.

The shows competing for the 2024 Best TV Stunt Ensemble SAG Award are “Ahsoka,” “Barry,” “Beef,” “The Last of Us,” and “The Mandalorian.” Based on our racetrack odds, “The Last of Us” performers (16/5) are the clear frontrunners, followed in order by those from “Ahsoka” (4/1), “The Mandalorian” (4/1), “Barry” (9/2), and “Beef” (9/2).
The team from “The Mandalorian” are this year’s only returning nominees, having triumphed on their sole previous bid in 2021. This makes the current lineup the fourth in the category’s 17-year history to include a single group of veterans, following cases involving “Dexter” (2011), “Westworld” (2021), and “Cobra Kai” (2022).
“Ahsoka” follows “The Mandalorian” and “Andor” as the third “Star Wars” series to contend for this honor, while it and the former are the first two shows in that franchise to directly face off here. The “Andor” performers were recognized for their first season last year but were ultimately bested by the “Stranger Things” crew.

It’s hard to think of Kiefer Sutherland without thinking of Jack Bauer, the CTU agent who foiled terrorists again and again in 24. It’s been nearly a decade since we last saw Jack Bauer in 24: Live Another Day, but the possibility of another revival of the beloved action series remains.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Kiefer Sutherland explained why 24 remains so important to him and teased that he’s got a few ideas for how it could be brought back.
I mean, it was the best time of my life. I was in my early 30s, so I was physically capable. I was not in my 20s, so I was a little smarter — not a whole lot, but a little smarter. And I got to do it for 10 years, which is, I guarantee you, the most stable opportunity that an actor will ever be given. So for all of those reasons,...

From shows like NCIS, Better Call Saul, and more recently, House of the Dragon, audiences have truly been spoilt.
But just because the original show was a success, it doesn't always mean the spinoff will be a success.
Heck, in some cases, the spinoff series doesn't even make it to air.
Below are five examples of some planned spinoff shows that unfortunately never made it onto the small screen, with reasons provided as to why that never happened.

When the original four-season run of Revenge ended in 2015, the nature of the final episode instantly led to rumours that the show could return. Could Nolan continue to help those seeking vengeance? Would Charlotte progress further down the dark path the show has hinted at?
A few months after the show ended,...

Vera really likes to keep us waiting. Series 11 of this beloved British detective series began broadcasting back in summer 2021, and after four episodes were released between then and January 2022, there’s been a year-long unexplained wait for the last two feature-length episodes of the series, which finally began airing on ITV1 on Sunday 15th January.
But like buses, you wait for one series of Vera and two arrive at once, as straight after Series 11 finishes we’ll be getting four more weekly episodes making up Series 12 as well, starting on 29th January.
Not only that, there’s another Vera instalment, The Rising Tide, on the way later this year, based on Ann Cleeves’s latest Vera novel of the same name.
So what can we expect from the upcoming episodes of Vera? More gruesome murders, of course, and more stunning Northumberland scenery, but there’s also going to be more...

Exclusive: John Boyega is one of a diminishing number of Hollywood film stars that hasn’t yet dived properly into the world of high-end TV drama. The 30-year-old actor has made several appearances on television—most notably winning plaudits for his searing portrait of a London policeman in Steve McQueen’s multi-award-winning BBC/Prime Video anthology Small Axe—but his career has largely been defined by roles in movies like Attack the Block and the third Star Wars trilogy.
This may all be about to change if closely held plans come to fruition: Boyega’s production company, UpperRoom Productions, has, in his words, “something potentially big brewing”.
“The project has got a big commercial footprint—I mean that in the best way—and I’m circling it now,” he hints. “It’s something as secretive as hell, but it’s something that’s a potential project if we can pull it off.

Despite what Marvel might have you believe, not all film franchises are perfectly serialized.
Take, for example, another kind of cinematic superhero: James Bond a.k.a. 007. The MI6 spy created by Ian Fleming and brought to screen by Harry Saltzman and Albert R. Broccoli is timeless in the most literal sense of the world. Since Sean Connery passed the role of James Bond to Roger Moore for good in 1973’s Live and Let Die (Connery previously gave way to George Lazenby in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service before returning in Diamonds Are Forever), James Bond has become unstuck in time.
As played in subsequent films over several decades by actors like Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig, Bond remains the same while the world around him changes. Some fans like to theorize that “Agent 007” and “James Bond” are aliases used by different MI6 spies throughout the years. But...

In May 2020, Paramount+ (still known as CBS All Access back then) announced the order for a series centered on the Captain Pike, Number One, and Spock characters introduced on Star Trek: Discovery Season 2, and the fan base went Wild.
Anson Mount brought the legendary Pike to life as the perfect precursor to the Kirk era while Rebecca Romijn epitomized the efficiency and effectiveness of the ultimate second-in-command, Number One.
Ethan Peck had the hardest role to take on as Spock, a figure long-beloved and revered from Leonard Nimoy's first portrayal of the Vulcan-Human defender of all things logical and fascinating. Peck's turn in the pointy ears was a resounding success.
With the three of them at the helm of the iconic Enterprise, anticipation for a return to episodic exploratory missions has been a slow-burning roar ever since.

Finn Wallace is the patriarch of the family and the head of a massive crime syndicate who is assassinated in episode one of Gangs of London but appears in flashback throughout the series. As a little gift to keep their bored, quarantined customers entertained, Apple TV+ has just made a number of original movies and shows available for free on their app, including M. Night Shyamalan’s highly acclaimed, familiarly unpredictable psychological thriller series Servant.
The show, which holds a 89% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, tells the story of a grieving couple from Philadelphia following a tragic event that tears their marriage apart while simultaneously welcoming a sinister force into their household.
While hitting all the beats indicative of a trademark M. Night Shyamalan story, Servant was actually not created by him. In his stead, Tony Basgallop, who made a name for himself with titles like Inside Men, What Remains and 24: Live Another Day, serves as showrunner. Still, unwavering fans of Shyamalan need not worry, as on top of heading the project as an executive producer, the controversial filmmaker also directs a few episodes.

CBS has ordered two more drama pilots, bringing its total to six so far for the 2020 development season. They are Good Sam, from writer Katie Wech (BH90210), Jane the Virgin creator Jennie Snyder Urman and her Sutton St. Productions; and Out The Door from 24 veteran Evan Katz and Jerry Bruckheimer Television. At TCA last week, Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn hinted that a new incarnation of 24 may e in the works. As Deadline reported at the time, the new concept, that has been gaining momentum, is being developed by The Resident showrunner Todd Harthan with 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine TV.

24 and Prison Break are two Fox drama series that the network has been able to successfully revive with 24: Live Another Day and Season 5 of Prison Break.
But, following the mixed reaction to 24: Legacy, Fox executives and the series’ producers have been treading carefully when pursuing a potential new installment of the real-time drama.
In May, Fox opted not to go forward with two potential new 24 series it had been developing: a real-time legal thriller written by 24 executive showrunner Howard Gordon and Jeremy Doner, and a prequel that traces the origin story of CTU agent Jack Bauer, from Gordon and 24 co-creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran.
While the network remained open to the prequel idea, there has been a new concept that has been gaining momentum the past few months, which is being developed by The Resident showrunner Todd Harthan.

Apple TV+ launched November 1 with original dramas such as “The Morning Show,” “See,” “For All Mankind,” and “Dickinson,” none of which earned much critical acclaim to become appointment viewing in the ever-expanding world of television streaming. The low profile debuts of Apple’s first four series is surely not what the new streamer was hoping for, although they can probably rely on M. Night Shyamalan to stir up buzz for the new streaming platform. The hit-or-miss horror favorite is behind Apple TV+’s upcoming “Servant,” debuting this Thanksgiving.
“Servant” is billed as a psychological thriller that “follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy,” which creates a “rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.” Apple TV+ has debuted the official “Servant” trailer, which gives away one of the series’ most disturbing secrets: The central couple (played by Toby Kebbell...

Event programming remains a target area for Fox, whether branded like 24 or original like the upcoming sci-fi drama NeXt, Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn told Deadline during TCA.
The network made a concerted effort last season to develop a new incarnation of one of its signature series, 24, by commissioning two scripts from 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine TV, a real-time legal thriller written by 24 executive showrunner Howard Gordon and Jeremy Doner and a prequel that traces the origin story of CTU agent Jack Bauer, from Gordon and 24 co-creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran.
As we reported in January, none of the projects got to pilot, with 24 producers going back to the drawing board and Fox expressing interest in cracking the prequel idea with a fresh new take. The legal thriller concept is no longer on the table, I hear.
“We are wide open,” Thorn said when asked by Deadline...

WarnerMedia has given 10-episode orders to two new series from Maniac creator Patrick Somerville for its upcoming streaming service. The series are: half-hour divorce comedy Made For Love, based on Alissa Nutting’s novel; with S.J. Clarkson directing and exec producing, and Station Eleven, an hourlong post-apocalyptic limited drama based on the international bestseller by Emily St. John Mandel, with Hiro Murai directing and exec producing. Somerville is writing and executive producing both shows which hail from Paramount TV where he has an overall deal.
Made for Love, based on the tragicomic novel of the same name by Nutting, is a dark, absurd, and cynically poignant story of divorce and revenge. The series shows how far some will go for love, and how much further others will go to destroy it.
It follows Hazel Green, a thirtysomething woman on the run after 10 years in a suffocating marriage to an unstable,...

Fox had been developing two potential new 24 series: a real-time legal thriller written by 24 executive showrunner Howard Gordon and Jeremy Doner and a prequel that traces the origin story of CTU agent Jack Bauer, from Gordon and 24 co-creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran.
Of the two, the legal drama progressed beyond the initial script and went through further development and reworking. But in the end, neither project made it to a pilot order this season.
During the TCA executive session Wednesday, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier called it “a blessing” to have the 24 “legacy and a responsibility to bring it back.”
He acknowledged that the network is “not announcing anything.” He expressed admiration for the creative auspices behind 24, from Imagine TV and 20th TV, but he stressed that “when we get it right,” the network takes bringing the franchise back “very seriously.”
The 24 producers now are expected to go back to the drawing board.
