Not really navel gazing, "Dirty Minds" is a tongue-in-cheek exercise in self-criticism as Stormy Daniels uses the Rom-Com format to address pornography or more accurately porn addiction. Her leading man Eric Masterson is so obsessed with porn that as a fan he refers to it as his "calling".
There is no script credit but tons of dialog as he schmoozes in misogynistic fashion with his buddies while smoking a joint, Stormy's version here of a Greek Chorus. His dream is to convince his beautiful lover Kirsten Price to have a threesome with him, inviting a girl over to complete the trio. She's not having it and a rift develops between them over Eric's harping on the request and his general emphasis on porn, from which he creates his own personal compilations that he encourages Kirsten to watch.
Most of the sex scenes shown are extraneous, including Stormy as an unnamed character having sex in an office supply room with Mick Blue, and even a vignette merely shown as a porn video Eric is watching, featuring Phoenix Marie (going anal) and Tommy Gunn.
Picture climaxes with Kirsten going three-way but not in the manner Eric desires, instead with a lesbian daisy chain involving her best pal Krissy Lynn plus Zoe Britton. This being a Rom-Com, our stars Eric & Wicked contract girl Price make up by film's end.
Dialog is crude throughout, with some amusing witticisms, as when Eric waxes romantically in the final reel: "You're my heart and my erection", or when he promises to swear off porn, declaring to Kirsten: "You're my new vice". In a key NonSex Role as a stoner is "Mike Hammer", part of Eric's basement coffee klatch (substituting pot).
Library music for soundtrack reaches a low in featuring a very poor ripoff of the tune & instrumentation of The Animals' hit version of "House of the Rising Sun".
