The opening outdoor scene (Act I, scene 1b) filmed Southern Minnesota, in February, on the coldest day of 2007. With wind chill dipping to 30 degrees below zero actors and crew took refuge indoors every 10 minutes and between all setups. The camera had to be wrapped in blanket and chemical heat packs to maintain operating temperature.
