37 days of shooting in the Grand Est region.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the director and her crew did an internship inside a real hospital, and interviewed doctors, nurses, midwives, future parents, to get a better understanding of the environment. Also, to improve the realism of the hospital scenes, they cast hospital staff in their own roles.
The script was written with Karin Viard for the role of Nathalie, with no backup in mind. Jennifer Devoldère, the writer/director, was relieved she accepted the part. For the role of Léo, more than 200 young men were auditioned. Melvin Boomer was one of the first ones and did very well, but Devoldère wanted to see more people before choosing him.
The movie was partly shot in the Barbois hospital in the suburbs of Nancy. As they couldn't film inside a real maternity, they build one inside an existing building, not in a studio, to make it look more real than what is usually seen in movies and series.
