Ammy Virk has done a good job of playing the role of a typical Punjabi man in his mid twenties looking to land on American soil. The story is well written in some parts and very poorly written where the characters suddenly throw in some humour punchline while looking at 10 dead bodies. The movie could have been much better if the ambience would have stayed constantly on the dark tone. All the humorous dialogues just becomes an annoyance.

Aaja Mexico Challiye is a very diversified Indian drama. The film revolves around ambitious, dishonest and naive Parminder who dreams of immigrating to the United States of America. However, the organism that promises to make his dreams come true sends him onto an illegal route to the promised land. Parminder arrives in Ecuador where he meets other illegal immigrants such as a narcissistic Pakistani and a quiet woman from Iran who got expelled from her family. With the help of shady smugglers, the immigrants move through the jungles of Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico. On their difficult journey, they have to resist attacks, disease, exhaustion, famine and thirst as their lives are going to be changing forever. Will Parminder and his new friends make it to the United States of America?

This movie convinces on numerous levels. First of all, the acting performances are truly memorable. Parminder's family members in particular are very energetic, faithful and severe as they try to support him but also warn him of possible dangers. The employees of the organism that plans illegal immigration are portrayed as being evasive, manipulative and shady. The smugglers are shown as aggressive and impatient but also as careful and organized. The leaders of the human traffickers are portrayed as being inhumane, menacing and violent. The different immigrants are shows as desperate, naive and resilient. Several characters of the latter category are quite memorable such as a petrified father of a young son, a quirky Indian immigrant who is considered an outcast and constantly made fun of and a weird survivor who joins the group and tries to get as much clothing, drinks and food from its members as possible.

This film also finds a dynamic mixture of many different genres. This movie is a drama because it portrays the difficult challenges that illegal immigrants have to face over a long period of time while criticizing the organizers, smugglers and traffickers behind them. It's also a comedy because the film features a lot of cool one-liners and memorable situation comedy portraying the different economic, religious and social backgrounds of the immigrants. The movie also turns into a tragedy as several immigrants are risking their lives far away from home to make it to a country where they are not even welcome. The ending of the movie leaves a particularly lasting impression.

The settings of the movie are perfectly chosen and provide an authentic vibe. One can observe simple but charming villages, shiny and fake business locations, small and isolated airports, dirty and simplistic camps as well as dangerous and dense vegetation with jungles, mountains and rivers. The lighting techniques provide some atmospheric depth to these locations as the movie meanders between depressing and hopeful moments.

On the other side, the movie also features a few lengths. Particularly the scenes in the protagonist's hometown and a few dancing and singing sequences don't fit in with the mood of the film and lead to an unnecessarily slow exposition. The film's conclusion will lead to controversial reactions. I thought that it was very fitting and left a lasting impression but other reviewers have expressed disappointment or even shock. Before watching this film, you should be aware that the topic it deals with is indeed very serious. This isn't supposed to be a movie that makes you feel good despite a few dancing choreographies and humorous scenes that might initially mislead you.

At the end of the day, Aaja Mexico Challiye is a diversified Indian drama that deserves much international acclaim, attention and recognition. The mixture of comedy, drama and tragedy should keep viewers on the edges of their seats and might lead to a few impressive surprises. This movie convinces with gripping story, stunning locations and intriguing characters. Just make sure to understand that this movie is indeed very serious and even sinister under its cover of humorous and joyful elements.

I generally don't watch movie in a theatre this was my second movie in theatre in the last 3 years. I must say I am glad I watched this movie in a theatre and contributed to the success of this movie (financially).

From the very beginning till the end movie is captivating. There is not even a single min where I felt bored. Even thought the subject of this movie is very sensitive and serious still the comedian kept it light and hilarious.

It is different level of cinema The whole cast of this movie is amazing. Everyone did full justice to their role.

I would highly recommend to go and watch this movie in a theatre and promote good cinema instead of watching the sense less comedy movies.

I love this Direction and story Last time I see Pakistani movie of this topic name Zinda Bhaag 2013.

This is one of the best movie ever produced by Punjabi Cinema. Hats off to all the cast of the movie. Movie has perfect combination Comedy and Emotion. Last hour of the movie is very very emotional. This sort of movie was very important for people of Punjab and its great lesson for those who wants to visit USA or any other country by illegal way or commonly know as Donki. In short, The movie is Eye opener for many. Whole cinema hall provided standing ovation to the movie. Don't miss this out. A must watch movie for everyone. Book your tickets now.

So, i watched it on tv it has unexpected story not for all Punjabi audience because they are not habitual to these type of movie they just want stereotypical movies which had a love story, music, singers not important that is there any actor in movie or not they want singer first who is doing actor, this movie is out of box i like how Ammy represent a youth the character played by Ammy seems like the guy in our daily life. But they named the movie wrong, which is not giving good inpression at first and also the trailer not looks good i think that's the reason why i don't go to cinema for this. I am appreciating this movie and the writers who wrote the story, i am hoping next time they are upto new thing just don't rpeat the mistakes.

This movie is a real lesson for all those who are considering to reach America via donki.

This movie is addressing real life issues and it is real gold if anyone sees it seriously.

The story is based on truth. However, it could have been much greater by working more on dialogues. Amy has done a good job as usual. Other stars could have done better. The originality of actual views were not there.

I did not expected this. This movie is mind boggling and it's based on true events.

As an avid fan of Ammy Virk movies, this movie is a sheer disappointment! 7.7/10 stars really?!! Have these 8 people been watching the same movie???? The plot/storyline had potential on paper but extremely let down with the below average direction, the dialogue was witty at times but a seasoned actor like Ammy would/should know a films success cannot be pinned on a couple of one liners. Overall very disappointed - sorry Ammy...I really hoped this movie would be up to your usual standard - but unfortunately it's well off.

Movie was excellent and we wanted to watch till the end. Please watch and support the movie . Ammy Virk as usual is funny and good actor. We rated 10/10 as it kept us on our chair till the end.

The story was and is close to home . But direction and flow of the story that was badly told. I expected bett r. But anyhow it's a different story can be watched on ott.

The movie was a delightful experience for me, as it managed to balance humor and drama in a captivating way. I appreciated how the script and the direction explored the complex emotions of the characters, while also making me laugh at their witty dialogues and situations. Some of the actors, however, did not deliver convincing performances and seemed out of place in their roles. I think they could have improved their expressions and delivery to match the tone of the movie better. Overall, I enjoyed how the movie blended comedy and heartbreaking serious emotional stuff into a coherent and engaging story.

Please do not watch!! Why can't they just make a good, Happy ending and positive movie!? My mood just totally got upset, movie is for entertainment or for depression?? What a waste of time and energy!!!! Seriously, I am so upset with the makers.

This one i was looking forward to. The film had really different subject and trailer seemed good but film was so badly made don't know what these guys wanted to make . Neither film is serious and neither it is a comedy. And ending was like the lead act just told them to finish it off.
