The series follow the events, in a very truthful manner, in an actual true story. This happened in a closed Christian community! Talk about sects, right!!! Low key pace in story-telling and sparse character building leaves much to the viewer to build on, to brood about, to analyze and so forth. Swedish story-telling does not disappoint!

Very strong and frustrating in my opinion. I do not recommend it at all for teenagers under 16 years of age. Only 18+, and not because of the unnecessary sex scenes, long and above all very frequent in two episodes, that's why I take away one star.
On the other hand, I found the series intense, exciting and interesting. How can you reach this level of manipulation? Incredible but true. The role of Anna, actress Alba August, is well developed, although perhaps they should have used more vulnerability, since she didn't seem like such a stupid girl to me. I don't know if you follow me. The girl friend, who cannot be called that, does not dare to tell her anything about her suspicions, and that is when the drama begins.
Actress Aliette Opheim, Eva in the series, is fantastic in her role as a first-class controlling and manipulative psychopat. Wow..her eyes! And those stares, gave me goosebumps!
I know her from the series Mörkt Hjärta, in which she has a totally different role, a very good actress. I also recommend this other series that I mentioned.
Don't miss it if you like extremely psychological and exciting series!

And I must say that I'm impressed, they nailed it. The cult is now long gone from here, but you would run into it's members regularly at the local grocery store, but they mostly kept to themselves. The cult was really big at the time, their around 90 members made out 1/6 of the villagers. Now, only a handful still lives here and thankfully, it's the saner ones.
The pastor was released from prison a few months ago, and now lives in a halfway house.

Truly amazing show, love the characters and the way it is written...absolute top performances, superb acting,,good directing and music...just love it.....
What sucked me in here was the depiction of some very bizarre behavior as experienced from the inside, so that it all seems perfectly normal to the loonies doing it, even when it leads to cold-blooded murder.
The people here are, after all, devout Christians just doing their best to serve Lord Jesus. Even when it leads to adultery, lying, grinding others into the dirt, and, if it pleases Jesus, cold-blooded murder.
You probably have plenty of people just like these in your town. Heck, if you're in a red state, they're probably running your town, burning books, scheming to ruin the lives of perfect strangers, and otherwise staying busy while waiting for Lord Jesus to show up.
Perhaps you even have some of these people in your own family. Or...since the chances are 50-50 in America...maybe YOU are one of them.
Heaven help us.

Sadly overrated. Had some hopes for this one. Seen two episodes and it feels rushed and lacking depth. No character building. Just feels like its portraying what happened without letting the viewer feel any for anyone. Too bad. And the acting is not all there. Some are better than others. I have liked the actress playing "eva" ( obviously Åsa ) in other productions but doesnt feel like this is the role for her. It doesnt feel genuine.
Edit: Have to say I thought it got better by the third episode. Maybe just more in the mood for it.

A dark series that shows a circle of people who at different stages of life end up in a sect, we get to follow their journey when they are seen by manipulative and power-mad people. Fantastic good series with first-class actors.
Aliette Opheim, who plays the bride of Christ, is the series' big star and lifts the entire series on her shoulders and plays a role that is fascinatingly scary.
