I enjoyed the series. Hoping they have another season. This show really makes you question the Justice system though. It leaves you with a lot of questions.

I watch all the true crime shows and this one stands out a little from the rest of the pack of shows that networks such as I. D. pumps out. Seems to focus more on interviews than details and fact, and of the 6 episodes I've seen, some don't have a black and white conclusion.
I usually hate this, but for some reason-I don't mind it on this show.
The host seems very compassionate when interviewing people...seems like she really cares.
Hope they continue to make more episodes!

I love watching true crime shows and this one really puts a different spin on most of the shows. I like the episodes that bring awareness to the wrongfully accused and imprisoned!
I like Hilarie Burton Morgan as the host. I dont feel like the negative comments about her are fair or just. I think she asks the questions and allows the victims families and the professionals(lawyers, investigators, police, etc) to do the majority of the talking. She does not hog the spotlight because she is famous.
I hope this show continues for more seasons because it is a really great show and I enjoy watching !

I absolutely love this show, I love how the approach is different from other ways crime stories are told. Mrs. Morgan is loving and caring and that makes me love the show even more.

It seems to me a lot of those who have such a strong negative opinion / problem with Ms Morgan as the host should be looking more deeply into themselves as to why. These overly critical reviews are reminiscent of those I've seen for another great host of another true crime show, Paula Zahn. They are both very attractive white ladies. So yeah, what are we really angry about here ? And I get it, to each their own but gimme a break !!
This show IS different and important in that it focuses on getting justice for the victims when justice is nonexistent. Imagine spending 23 years behind bars for a crime you did not commit and because this show challenged that verdict, it's either overturned or dropped and you are rightfully set free.
I, too, am an avid true crime junkie and know most of these docs / shows have a definitive ending with the case usually having been solved CORRECTLY. This show should actually be called something along the lines of WRONGFULLY ACCUSED or QUESTIONABLE VERDICT or something to that effect but whatever.
We'll be needing more of this. Oh yeah, and don't change the host. Please and thank you.
Sorry UPDATE : Ok so I just saw Episode 6 which does not involve anyone who was wrongfully convicted so apparently they're not all like that. My bad !

Keep these episodes coming. Hilarie does a great job at this. She may have producers but you can feel her genuine care when talking about these stories. She is refreshing. There are lots of crime documentaries out there to compete with. She really cares about getting the whole story out there. It has been a long time since I have seen such good factual storytelling. I hope they do updates on some of these stories. I hope Christians family finds peace. I hope they all do actually. Hilarie be proud of this work, it's fantastic. I look forward to more episodes I binge watched like 12 episodes in one night.
These are stories that you don't hear about on every other podcast. They are the forgotten stories. They are the every day people in non-salacious stories that need to be remembered. Hilarie Burton Morgan is every bit as good as Keith Morrison on dateline. Maybe even better because she actually sympathizes with the families. She has no obvious agenda to create a program that is salacious in anyway. She sympathizes with the victims and families at every turn. She actually tries in every way to find the facts of the case. I am so in awe of her and so proud of her for doing this. It is actually amazing to watch the show.

I've only watched one episode, but I learned all I need to know about the veracity of this show (Season 1, Episode 2 about the murder of Mary Yoder.)
During an interview Ms. Morgan conducts, someone who is convinced that there's a wrongful conviction in this case says that Mary's husband refused to allow an autopsy. This is absolutely false, and it would have been so simple to verify. Despite all of the protestations of innocence, Ms. Morgan never brings up facts that are known about the case, such as texts that show the convicted is not exactly the innocent, loving girl her supporters portray her as, nor that her DNA was found on the vial of poison. It's clear that Ms. Morgan is not invested in presenting both sides of the story.
This series is not genuine journalism in any way, so skip it if you're looking for real deep-dives into crime.

Hilarie Burton-Morgan sets the new standard for true crime documentarians. As her role attests, she is an advocate for the victims and for those whom our imperfect justice system has failed. She isn't just another talking-head "host" asking the same repetitive questions each episode straight off the teleprompter. It's apparent that Hilarie has studied the cases she covers, conveys genuine emotion about the people and events, and that she is interested in the actual truth, not simplistic sensationalism. True crime = the Truth in this series. Stop reading this and start watching this show!!!!! Put it on your watch list so you're notified of new episodes. But fair warning - YOU'RE GOING TO BINGE WATCH EVERY SINGLE EPISODE STRAIGHT THROUGH. Forget sleep and order in. You'll be glad you did.
I wanted to like this show but after watching episode 2 I just could take it seriously. I've seen the Yoder story told in a couple of other shows that talk about the evidence with detectives and prosecutor. They did a much better job at explaining why the Kate was found guilty. For starters, this episode doesn't talk about all the forensic evidence they found.
The only DNA found on the bottle was Kate's. Secondly, she was obsessed with the son Adam. When he wanted to end things, she tried to accuse him of sexual assault. The detectives looked into it and found zero evidence. They also found a ton of online evidence, not just on her work computer, but on her phone. She created the email days before she ordered the poison. The password for the email? It was "Adamisgay"
At the end, she poisoned the mom hoping she could get the son back. She was there at her death bed consoling the son. He was also the one who gave her the job at the practice. And the husband? He had an alibi and the affair with the sister started after his wife's death.
This episode also didn't show the victim statement the son gave at Kate's sentencing. He was beyond crying and blaming himself for brining her into his family. This show lost all my respect for portraying that psycho monster as an innocent woman.

The show had potential to be fairly interesting. However, the host inserts herself in every way possible, and has little to add by way of informed commentary. Her reactions to interviewees seem stilted and insincere. When she interviews an expert, more focus is paid to showing her boots or her hair than to the actual statements and facial expressions of the experts themselves.
As other reviewers have stated, the stories seem to be very one-sided. There is little shrift paid to victims and their families. And the opposing viewpoints are never aired.
Additionally, none of the stories seem to have a resolution. Everything is left up in the air. As though the point of this was to just travel around small towns, rake up trouble about the past, and then leave everything the way she found it. Definitely would give this one a pass. So much more available that is better done.

Could be good if you got rid of the crazy religious people that every episode focuses on. She got a vision from God. Really so why did you god let them die. Crickets. Pure trash. The detective saying, these are people who support the police. Excuse me what does have to do with anything.

Could be good, but needs a diff host. You obviously see how she doesnt truly care. This one i find so dissociative and seems sociopathic. The stories are very good though but again the hosts sits in the way and is distracted, her focus is off cuz of her narcisism that comes along with it. Im sorry for this bad review, but its the truth. We want honest hosts, not these types of ppl. She also says things like we are gonna hang out here and here today, i mean how can you say that about the family member of a murder victim. So sad.

This show usually depicts family, friends, bloggers and defense attorneys in support of the convicted. They generally have 1 maybe 2 people on the side of the prosecution. NEVER talking to the victims or prosecutor and refers to mostly exculpatory or speculative evidence,
Evidence presented on this show is mostly shown as hearsay, lying witnesses, bad evidence and bad police practices.
Hilarie Burton is definitely unrealistic and unconvincing while hosting this show. Her constant elbow on the table while holding her hand to her face seems totally insincere and invented. She never interviews victims of the crimes or speaks to people with opposing views. She only shows a cursory glance at the victims.,
This show reveals why some "podcast type" programs have gone too far or not far enough.
I have literally watched 100's and 100's of crime shows, but this is one of the worst. Do not look for any mercy here,

If you have an interest in true crime stories skip this and watch something else.
The host is a D class actress that I had never heard of but Googled and saw she was in a teen drama many years ago and now calls herself an activist. (What many irrelevant actresses do these days). She's very unlikeable and doesn't come across as sincere. She's just there for the paycheck. Curious, I found her Twitter and it's pretty much the usual Hollywood crazy rants which isolates many people who don't agree with her. She just spews hate and attacks people, but doesn't do anything to make the world a better place. If you don't agree with her you are "evil" and she will block you. I'll never understand how she was given the job to host. It's never a good idea when your host hates half the population.
The stories are pretty much one sided, always the defendants side but very little, if anything, from the victims friends or family.
Some of the same stories are told on other true crime series which present a more fair and well rounded coverage of the case which includes both sides. There is no agenda like Miss Burton presents.
I don't know how this show lasted so long. She must have a family member or a friend at this network.

She is awful and so phony. She wouldn't set foot in a small Georgia town other than to audition for something bigger and better than this show. How many times must we be shown her boots, you know, the genuine ones real people wear because she's so real. Gag.
