The Gatcombe Pub features, this was a well known drinking hole in Hartcliffe in the 1980s. As was The Town Talk which was on the outskirts of Hartcliffe. The Gatcombe no longer exists but The Towns Talk still does having been renamed The Yanliegh Inn.
The tower blocks seen in the distance at the start of the film, and looking surprisingly modern, are in fact Wimpey built tower blocks from the 1960s. They are situated at The Groves which is the official name for the 'Bishport Five' - and the road on which they stand. You can see the five 11-storey tower blocks from right across Bristol.
The hero of the story has his beloved Honda XL125 stolen, a choice no doubt influenced by the large engine. Whilst Honda had the edge on reliability, the same dealer could have sold him from the forecourt a Gilera 50 Trail bike instead for similar money. Despite the smaller engine, the latter bike is today worth 300% of the Honda value.
