First of all, the title of this movie is so poorly chosen, that it just leads you to think in a whole different playing field. I wonder if no one actually raised their hand at any point and said 'uhm, the title though?'.
I have to say that the synopsis for this 2023 Western movie titled "Two Sinners and a Mule" sounded interesting enough. And thus I opted to pick up the movie and sit down to watch it. I hadn't actually heard about the movie prior to stumbling upon it by random luck.
Writer Beau Hilliard put together a script and storyline that had promise, for sure. But there was just something lacking from the movie to make it a properly entertaining movie. I wanted to like "Two Sinners and a Mule", I really did, but the movie was just falling short of being entertaining. I suppose it was a combination of the pacing of the narrative, the lack of entertaining contents, and the fact that the characters had the appeal of tadpoles.
Of the entire cast ensemble that starred in "Two Sinners and a Mule", then I was only familiar with Cam Gigandet. But they definitely had a good selection of skilled actors and actresses on the cast ensemble, just a shame that they didn't have proper contents to work with and bring to the screen.
For a Western movie then "Two Sinners and a Mule", from director Raliegh Wilson, came and went without leaving a lasting impression. It is hardly a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time, as it was a struggle to sit through it the first time around.
Visually then "Two Sinners and a Mule" just didn't really come off as a proper era-set Western. Everything felt too new, spotless and clean.
My rating of "Two Sinners and a Mule" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.
