I loved Dylan Wang in this series, his character was well written and very charismatic. The only eyesore was Esther Yu, who, despite of being reasonably pretty, and playing the role of a 1500 year old fairy, just had to behave like a 5-year old! Her acting was thoroughly irritating, and though in the later episodes she did start acting a bit mature, I just couldn't digest her kid dish behaviour. The story was interesting for fantasy genre, and the second male lead acted well too, I even liked the villain more than the female lead! I guess saying this is enough to say how bad she was! I wouldn't have watched it if it wasn't for Dylan Wang.

This Chinese version of Beauty and the Beast is romantic, funny, dreamy, heartwarming and heart-wrenching. The artistic CGI enhances the fantasy feel. I was blown away by the stunning music, beautiful set design and the heartfelt portrayal by the cast.
Dylan Wang nails a challenging role of the heartless and ruthless but inadvertently funny and loveable Supreme Lord of the Moon Tribe, Dongfang Qingcang.
Esther Yu as lowly Fairy Orchid Xiao Lanhua is initially annoying with her high-pitched, whiney, babyish way of talking but she eventually grows on you once you realize Lanhua is really a baby immortal, just 1500 years old compared to Dongfang Qingcang who is more than 30,000 years old. Now, before Xianxia newbies get dismayed at this age difference, it will be noted that Xianxia is a genre that deals with immortality and reincarnation, thus aging happens differently. In any case, Lanhua does grow up, becoming much less whiney and babyish as the drama progresses. However, she retains a baby's innocence and purity of heart, making her one of the most admirable female leads I've encountered in CDramas. Instead of the usual revenge-driven grudge-keeping CDrama characters, Lanhua sees the best in everyone and is quick to forgive and forget. She does not hesitate to come to the rescue of other people, with no thought of her own safety. Her pure heart, kindness and courage melt DFQC's heart, or rather, restore his emotional tree.
Roc Chen's sublime background music, also featured in Royal Nirvana, soars, a fitting accompaniment to the exquisite artistic visuals. The other musical pieces are equally stirring.
In summary, it's a beautiful and powerful drama that dares to make viewers believe in the supremacy of love.

Superb sci-fi drama I've watched recently! It delicately, ingeniously, and diligently interpret the prominent beauty of the ancient Oriental. As an Overseas Chinese, it allows me to see the great virtue and morals from the interactions/chemistry between characters. It was mind-blowingly great! Not to mention the editing of it is extraordinarily aesthetic! In my opinion, the editing of this show is comparable to the Hollywood movie. You will regret it if you don't give it a shot 😉
I tend to like fairytales stuff so I clicked on this title one night and watched 10 minutes into the drama. I thought to myself, the casts look great but I thought Dongfang Qingcang wasn't as alluring as I had hope where as Chang Heng was great looking. Orchid was also spot on with her character's description. So I stopped watching 10 minutes in. A week later I ran out of things to watch so I was reading some reviews online and this drama came up. Many people loved it. So I decided to go back and give it another shot. I am glad I did. The character that I wasn't satisfied with the most Dongfang Qingcang played by Dylan Wang became my favorite character in the drama. I then understood why Dylan was chosen for this role. His furrow of the eyebrows and glaring eyes were enticing. Overall, I liked it a lot more than I thought and I really enjoyed watching it. I do think the storyline is great but still quite a lot of flaws especially some ending episodes. If only base on satisfaction I would give this drama an 8 for it didn't have a tragic, unhappy ending but it did miss quite a lot of important connective pieces to really round up the whole story. I did however gave it a 10/10 because of Dongfang Qingcang played by Dylan Wang. He's perfect for the role.

I find myself watching this over and over again. The characters were very well played and the storyline well executed. The special effects were my favorite part. It's amazing to have so many scenes cause you to feel the emotions through the screen. The female lead was annoying but it made sense when you watch it. Her character development throughout the series is amazing. Have patience and understand their character is meant to be played that way. Moon Supreme falling in love with Orchid was a beautiful love story. I wish it didn't have to end so short. I wanted to see how he was able to return and what their life is like after reuniting. It left you wanting more from the story. You HAVE to watch it to understand. It's worth it!!!

This series melt my heart by their unconditional love, while watching this series, my emotions going like Rollercoaster, funny, tears, sadness, Esther and Dylan Wang they have amazing chemistry , Dylan Wang is born to play the invincible cold heart, Moon Supreme, a Dark Lord has been sealed for 30000 years the most powerful demon of the three realms finally out into the world after being jailed up for 30,000 years and immediately being stuck in a low ranked fairy's body. The Story started as a Romantic Comedy.
The romance is captivating , the story is classic forbidden love ( Moon Tribe vs Fairy Tribe) but the way it incorporated with fantasy is so refreshing and engaging, the acting skills for all the cast is top tier, Dylan Wang the main lead as Moon Supreme , his charm is a Bomb on screen, the devilishly handsome actor caught your eye in every shot. He is regal, cold, majestic when we first meet Dong Fang Qing Cang, and we discover his soft, giddy and happy side when he meets the love of his life. We see his jealousy, anger, uncertainty and deep sadness as the story progresses. The chemistry with Esther Yu is amazing that make the whole love story believable which touch your heart. The sets , costume is insanely beautiful which suit the character very well. I love every piece of Moon Supreme's costume. This is a drama mixed with comedy , sadness as the story develop. Both actors did very well in the body swap part which make me laugh my head off. Each character has a well develop story and they are all nicely told. The Main theme is What is Love ? Love can melt the coldest heart of a devil, the script and story line is so well written, the writing is impeccable. Scriptwriters understand what makes good comedy, and that so much comedy comes from pain, Something your laughing over in the earlier episodes will turn its back on you and stab you with emotion and pain.
This is the best Xianxia Drama I have watch so far, if you only choose one drama to watch, this is the one you should !

It's one of those shows that you hope will never end while you lose yourself binge watching it. I was drawn in right away. Some have called this show cheesy and that the main girl was annoying... but to each their own. I thought all of the actors were extremely talented in their overall abilities, and emotions they displayed throughout the show. Standing ovation for certain. The storyline wasn't as predictable as I expected and left me wanting to keep watching instead of going to sleep at a normal hour. If you like these kind of shows, you won't be disappointed! Hands down my favorite show I've watched in 2022.
This drama is so good. I haven't felt this feeling since watching Korean drama Goblin. The director know how to tell a good story. He remember never to leave out any details, he always go back to it and explain it afterwards for the viewers to understand so you never have to feel left out. The chemistry between the two leads is good. The soundtrack is superb. Visually is stunning to watch. This drama kind of remind me of beauty and the beast, in terms of describing the relationships between the male and female leads. The characters development overall is good. Overall is a masterpiece. I'll say is worth checking it out if you're into fantasy/romance.

I was really looking forward to watching this since I heard it would have a beauty and the beast feel. I like sweet and naive characters but she is too much. She uses a pouty child voice almost constantly. I thought the series was short so I thought I could just get it over with since the story could be worth it. Realizing how long it is, I had to quit after almost finishing episode 8. Her actions, mannerisms, and voice ruin the whole show for me. If you watch some of the show and you find her cute to watch then I assume you can enjoy the whole show. If she's annoying to you, I recommend watching A Korean Odyssey instead or something since that still has some of the same story vibes (villain having to protect her even though he wants to kill her but they ultimately fall in love) but better characters.

What a great show-I started a couple of weeks ago not realizing I had to wait a week for a new show - so I stopped until all the episodes were on Netflix and just made a night of it - LOVED every second of it- Dylan Wang never disappoints and fell in love with orchid . I love their love story - this show reminded me of ashes of love which is my ole time favorite show to watch (watched it 3 times already ) I know I will be watching this one again soon -
It was such a beautiful story wish I could find the book in English -
Give us more magical love stories like this - so well written - the plot was great and the actors were absolutely amazing - truly great show.

I finished rewatching this series for a second time.
Dylan wang is flawless in his performance. He has such a charismatic presence. Netflix has brought many interesting shows outside of American TV to my feed that I appreciate since American tv has been pretty boring for a while. There are not many actors I feel Interested in following their career., Other than Henry Cavill. His biggest appeal is his personality being, he is a self proclaimed nerd. I don't know much about Dylan wang but seems like many Asian actors are more fun and less entitled than many American actors.
Dylan wangs performance feels closely to Henry cavill in the Witcher. He demonstrates strength but also flexibility. A dynamic performance that kept me watching. I decided to watch meteor garden after watching love between fairy and devil. I really enjoyed his part, but really all the male leads were fantastic. He definitely grew as an actor from each role. His annoyance look is by far my favorite from any actor I've watched. He can look so annoyed but also concerned. When he smiles, it's infectious and adorable. He's very believable as a ML. I'm hopeful to see him in more roles. The FL in this I felt like did a great job as well. The swapping of roles each was great. I didn't love the high pitch voice but she was sweet and made the change easier to separate. My biggest gripe is that Netflix didn't add in the extra episodes after the finale that is available to other networks. This show is a must watch. The storyline never felt boring. So much happened and I wish we had just a little more to end the series. Wish they had a season 2 to keep it going but that seems unlikely. Great show and definitely one to rewatch.

Best Chinese drama ever! The cast, storyline, OST, everything about this drama has me coming back to rewatch it over and over again. It was slow starting out but after the first 3 episodes I was completely hooked. I feel in love with the leads and it was amazing watching their love story unfold and their character develop. Dylan Wang and Esther Yu really brought their character to life and. Their chemistry is insane on and off screen. I laughed, I cried, I was in awe. I felt all the emotions. It took me months to move on from this drama and I don't even think I have. I would recommend this drama anyone! 10/10 hands down!!

I knew this Chinese drama had a lot of good reviews, so I have had it in my watchlist on Netflix for about a year. I finally decided to give it a shot.
When I had come to episode 15, I decided to go back and rewatch episode 1 and 2 and I am glad I did. The first 2 episodes are hard to figure out what is going on when you first start watching, but it does lay out the foundation of this tale. By rewatching the first 2 episodes after having seen 15 episodes, a lot of things made more sense to me.
I didn't get hooked on this drama until about episode 4. I am glad I stuck it out. Dylan Wang is perfect for his role as Moon Supreme Lord. I had seen him in Meteor Garden a couple of years ago. I think he is a pretty good actor. He has a lot of magnetism.

One of the most approachable of this genre. At 32 episodes, it's a breeze. These types of cdramas typically have many more episodes.
The portrayal of Immortals and demons has never looked so good. The redemptive power of love features strongly throughout the drama. The story is unabashedly about love overcoming everything, even fate.
The costumes and accessories are amazing and thoughtful. There is a story and a message to every item worn or piece of clothing. The characters may be plentiful but memorable once you really get into the story. The two leads gives a performance full of chemistry and flair.
Truly one of the most engaging cdramas of 2022.

This was a beautifully-written series which is a must watch if you like Xianxia series.
You can see amazing character developments throughout this series and the series hooks you from episode 1. What makes it stand out from other Xianxia is that there is no jealous love triangle or mother-in-law from hell type plots which is really refreshing to see, as it focuses more on the relationships of the characters. The graphics were gorgeous throughout and I personally think it is in the same league as series including Ashes of Love in regards to the relationship plot of the ML and FL.
If I am looking at any negatives I would say that the ending felt a bit too rushed and I think the series was a bit too short where they could have looked at other characters' story plots more as I feel some plots were cut too short. However, I guess we just have to hope for a season two as I would love to watch more of the series!!

You will fall I love with the whole series, if you just love a little bit fantasy. For the ones who love fantasy this is one of most epic costume series ever made. One can feel the love for details, the effort to make the character look authentic. I have never seen better elven costumes. The fact that they skipped pointy ears but also a plus. Simply not needed as the rest of the costume is already perfect.
The main cast was a great choice. They play their roles with passion. The soundtrack of the series will stay in your mind. It matches the already perfect show. I listened to it many many times after I finished the series. I cannot praise enough the setting, the details of this show. The lighting, the filming, the romantic sceneries. Everyone should watch it. It has also a lot of moral in the storyline. They produced definitely a series which is above Hollywood standard. I hope it wins many awards so that the writers and crafters get credit for their hard work. It's what they deserve. <3.

Cang Lan Jue, otherwise known as Love Between Fairy And Devil, is gorgeous. From the cast, music, sets, costumes and cinematography to the story about the three realms - fairies/immortals, moon tribe and mortal - this is aesthetically pleasing. You could tell that the artists had a vision for how the worlds should look like and painstakingly built those worlds to make their vision come alive. I love seeing the products of such dedicated artists whose chief driving force is their art.
The story deals with the power struggle between the immortals and the moon tribe. The love story between a lowly fairy in the immortal realm and the powerful leader of the moon tribe is exceptionally enchanting, filled with twists and turns, told with just the right blend of romance, comedy, drama and action. One of my favorite parts is how, at the end, the realms team up against the real villain and peace reigns when everyone lets love rule.
The reason I did not rate this a 10? How could the director, or whoever made the decision, think that baby talk, whining and a pouty facial expression would work for a female lead? Dilraba Dilmurat successfully made baby talk cute in Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, but I think it was because she was smiling sweetly, even naughtily, while doing it. Furthermore, she was not the female lead. Fairy Orchid's baby talk + whine + pout in Cang Lan Jue simply screamed fake, bratty and terribly annoying. If not for Dylan Wang, who plays male lead Moon Supreme Dongfang Qingcang, I would have dropped this. But I'm glad I didn't. Countless goodies in the drama, especially Dylan Wang's visual and acting as well as the background music, set artistry and the intriguing story, somehow stretched my tolerance. Anyway, Fairy Orchid (Esther Yu) shed her annoying behavior later on and over-all could not stop this series from becoming outstanding.
I'm noticing some reviews that expressed disappointment at the series end. Please note that the series has 36 episodes, not 24.
