Mumbai, June 1 (Ians) Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who was most recently seen in the second season of the historical fiction streaming show ‘Taj’, shared that he didn’t find his cult classic black comedy ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ funny while he was filming it.
Talking about why ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ sequel is doomed, the senior actor said: “That was a time I believed deeply in the method, believability and logic. I found many situations in the film ludicrous and I didn’t find anything funny while shooting that film. And maybe that’s why it is funny because none of us were laughing at ourselves while performing it. I realised I was mistaken and I was being unreasonable, I should have tried to get on director Kundan Shah’s wavelength instead of trying to get the film on mine.”
He also spoke about what excites him after having worked...

Happy Family, Conditions Apply(Prime)
Directed by Aatish Kapadia, Jamnadas Majethia
Dysfunctional families are the new functional. Coincidentally the feature film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and the series Happy Family, Conditions Apply released this week, share an affinity for the joint family, creaky joints and all, not to mention their lengthy V. Shantaram styled titles.
Happy Family is a strange animal. It infuriates and amuses, exasperates and endears itself provided you stay non-judgemental about the borderline obsessive characters as well as about the content which gives them a freeflowing movement that frequently makes them look foolish.
Part of our mixed feelings come from the fact that the characters, each so sharply written you feel you know him or her (although you don’t really want to), are like that: highly annoying and fixated in their opinions. None more so than Hemlata Dholakia, played smirkingly by the magnificent Ratna Pathak Shah...

Back to back mid-summer Xmas mornings with the rollout of major premiere titles at Tiff and now the full line-up for Venice means we’re now carefully dissecting the numerous films announced with our first focus going down the list at the treasure trove of items in the Horizons Section, otherwise known as Orizzonti. Names that pop out of the group of eighteen include Danish helmer Tobias Lindholm‘s heavily anticipated third feature film, A War. Re-teaming with actor Pilou Asbæk in just as many outings, R (2010) and A Hijacking (2012) are part of his already stacked early filmography, this is about a solider stationed in Afghanistan and finds himself caught in a catch-22 type of situation.
Another highly anticipated film (our Nicholas Bell slotted it at #33) which posits a person in a life or death type of situation is Nicolas Saada‘s sophomore film. Based on true horrific events, set...

New Delhi, Jan 22: Indian origin Australian actor Mahesh Jadu, who makes his Hollywood debut with "I, Frankenstein", says the only way to succeed in Hollywood is to be disciplined, focussed and well-planned; otherwise you'll be forced to quit.
"You have to keep at it. You should know where you want to be and where you want to go with your career...work on the steps you want to take and focus on those steps - that is the secret to continue; otherwise you will come across opportunities to quit during your journey," Jadu told Ians on phone from Melbourne.
Prior to fantasy-action drama "I, Frankenstein", the 31-year-old was seen in Australian film "Taj", which was directed by Winston Furlong, as well as in Australian TV series.
