Watching Arundhati is a delight. After a long time i have seen a telugu movie which actually blends the CG and Content in right proportion. This is a movie that must not be missed by any one and must be watched in theaters only. It sets new standards of film making and we can expect more films to come out of this genre which is rather rarely touched in Telugu cinema these days. The story of the film is OK. But the screenplay is fantastic. U cannot blink ur eye while watching this film. It has breathtaking screenplay. Acting by Anushka is fantastic. I am at a loss of adjectives for her performance especially in the role of jejemma. She is perfect for both the roles. Sonu sood is Superb. He must thank Mr.P.Ravi Shankar who has given voice to that character. Sayaji Shinde is good. Rest of the cast performed well. One must thank the producer Mr.M.Shyam Prasad Reddy garu who gave us a gem of a movie. His desire for creativity is seen in every frame of the film. He never compromised on anything. I guess no other producer would have dared to spend 13+ crores on a heroine oriented film. Kodi Ramakrishna proves yet again that he is the man for these types of films. Special mention for Rahul Nambiar who is the creative director and Special Effects Supervisor of the film. He has done a great job.

I watched this movie because it got dubbed into Malayalam and was shown in a TV channel. I don't like watching dubbed version but a few minutes into the movie I was taken back so took the original version(Telugu) and watched it. I wasn't a fan of Anushka before but after watching this she is one of my favorite. She made Jejamma and Arundhathi character look so royal and at the same time respectable. Sonu sood's villain character even was also simply superb except for annoying "ya aye" type of dialogs which was not needed. CG effects team also did a fabulous job in making it look more realistic. Even though there are lots of gimmicks taken from foreign and other movies I felt it also good (scenes like poltergeist effects, demon being slayed, drumming scenes from Chinese movie forgot name, demon on walls etc). Also the scenes where Arundhati dances to kill villain and then wears same dress during the end reminded me of the "manichitrathaazhu" original version of chandramukhi where Shobna did fabulous job. Anushka is simply superb in Saree, she is the ultimate gulti on screen.

Story: There is a saying that the spirit of a deceased person who succumbed to untimely demise would not leave this earth. The spirit would stay on the earth to complete the unfulfilled task. Arundhati is a thriller made on the tussle between such a spirit (Anushka) and a villain (Sonu Sood). This film is not a horror film, but a thriller.
First half of the film is excellent and the second half is good. Arundhati is a film which we can proudly show it as a Telugu film to all your non-Telugu friends. Don't watch it on internet or pirated DVDs. Arundhati is a film that must be watched in a good theater with nice sound/projection system. This is one of the movies which is going to take telugu movie industry to new heights.

Don't get me wrong - "Arundhati" is a good movie and a definite one-time watch material. It is based on similar lines of "Chandramukhi" and perhaps a yardstick. The plot unfolds at various points ensuring the audience is engaged at all times. Arundhati draws laurels on two aspects - the technical and the performances. Being a horror movie it effectively manages to scare the living daylights at many places. There is lots of blood, gore and unspeakable, so faint-hearted stay away.
∆ Anuskha Shetty:: Manages to don both the roles of Arundhati/ Jejamma with ease.
∆ Sonu Sood:: The devil reincarnate character is borough to life with his awesome performance. Anushkha & Sonu are the two pillar which the movie rests upon.
∆ Sayaji Shinde:: Convincing performance as usual (and as usual, he is loud!).
∆ The actor who played Rahul:: Your role is shorter than special appearance. Go on and blow your trumpet in your neighbourhood about your blink-and-miss appearance!
However to play devil's advocate - its a 1980's Ramsay Bros storyline. Old wine in new bottle - thanks to the clever narrative, good performances and use of new technology. In fact CGI's are an overkill. In addition, there are quite a lot of creative liberties in the narrative. Had the screenplay been tightened up, it would certainly been a flawless "Chandramuki".
Kodi Ramakrishna is making an sincere attempt to keep his boat sailing in the changing times.

The producer of the movie made this movie around 10 years back; he didn't any movie after that. What a great lover of movies. He made movies only if he love the story.

This film is a testimony to the up onwards rise and superstardom of Anushka Shetty in the South Industry. The biggest blockbuster which holds so many records. Till another 5 years wasnt broken, it broke the patriarchy in the male dominant eccentric telugu industry to a great extent . The performances were top notch . Must watch a badass performance from Anushka. Even after so many years it still has a very speacial place.

Compared to when this movie first came out in the year 2009, I do think that it's quite the gem.
This movie features a female lead without all of the romance. Looking at the priorities of the main lead was quite refreshing (compared to some movies where the female lead tends to rely quite a bit on the male lead).
The plot and acting of all the characters is probably one of the best. It was one of those rare times where the villain impressed me as much as the main character.
The VFX and graphics weren't as impressive but the plot and characters should be more than enough for that to be overlooked.
I would recommend watching this if you want to find an intriguing supernatural story with a fantastic female lead and villain.

I was impressed with the initial half of the movie which shows the villain getting his comeuppance...I felt this part was done pretty nicely even though the CGI used was lousy...
However the latter part of the movie started out bad and it was all downhill thereafter...it was as if different people had worked on different parts of the script...or else as if the scriptwriters and director were suddenly in a hurry to bring the movie to an end and sacrificed logic (& everything else)...
I can understand that certain amount of suspension of belief is necessary while watching a movie which deals with occult, reincarnation, spirits etc...but when logic flies completely out of the window and you are left with a "what the hell" feeling, there is something seriously wrong with the movie...I have read the earlier reviews which heap praise on the movie and I realise that Indian movies have a long, long way to go before they can be compared to international standards...the backbone of any movie, the plot, is so shoddy here that it would have been torn to shreds by international movie critics...
On a more positive note, the acting was pretty good, some parts of the story was fascinating & interesting and had the writer / director not been in a hurry to wrap it up, it would have been a truly awesome film...

No doubt, its an heart throbbing movie. These type of movies are rarely seen. Because this movie discusses the concepts of Aghora's, yogi's and agony of evil spirits. The visual effects makes these stuff more interesting.
The screenplay of this movie thrills the audience. Sound Effects are really good. The performance of anushka has to be appreciated and she suits well for the character of jejamma(Queen). Anyway, the actual show stealer is Sonu sood(pasupati). He has done an excellent job. Even though he appears only for some time on screen, but he did his best part as aghora as a villain. The rendered voice for this character is P.Ravi Shankar has to be awarded. Thanks for the whole unit of ARUNDHATI for making such an magnum opus movie which presents some idea on above mentioned things.

I see it as a grand and heroic horror film!
It could be a strongly unforgettable horror film for many, but I watch it recently (yes I'm so late for this I apologize).
The story, casts, and crews deserve all possible recognition. The second time I watch it, I just realized that it's not only about 'good defeats bad', but also about how Jejamma sacrificed herself. What a sweet entry scene of hers and what a strong ending she did. Anushka makes her top performance earlier back then.
Along with fine script, make-up, and props, its' good editing make the filmis satisfying to be watched.
Pasupathi was the creepiest. Allow me to be "too much", but his characterization is still relatable in today's condition - human's obsession is creepier and more dangerous than ghosts. Sonu Sood is a gem and a potential on-screen villain that people love anytime.

With having a powerful title "Arundhati", the film is as powerful as the male centric films. It's Anushka, who got many fans with her performance. She is a surprise! Sonu Sood is impressive and Shinde is strong. Technically strong, the film is such a rare one with zero flaws.
It is sad to see some people down rate this movie, for me it worked really well and even at present day i would love to rewatch again,
the film shows what is GOOD HORROR and TRUE FEMINISIM!!!
I felt the movie never lacked at any point and went highly engaging from start to end this is crazy movie, WATCH ALONE THAT WILL GIVE BETTER EXPERIENCE.
*For me the movie peaked when the evil entity escapes from its prison after that movie gets faster*
Im not supporting this movie because its my regional movie .
Im a North Indian and Im upvoting this movie, so understand its quality and definitely give it a try!!!
Thank you.

First off this is a commendable effort getting in to such a genre. But, in the name of screen play it cramps in so many details, plot sequences, evil deeds etc,. its like 3 sequels in one film. There is no building up of plot or any breather, even if you get one, it will be some family crowd doings some overacting with cheesy dialogues.
I am not sure what genre is this film, Is it an all out violent underground zombie violence film? Is it some low grade religion appeasing film? Or is it some family tragedy? Or a Mummy like adventure-horror film?. Not clear at all, all elements are cramped in.
Every single thing is verbose, there is always someone commenting what's happening on the screen, if not that its something that happened before will be playing on the screen as a montage, (something graphically violent as usual). So that we dumb audience can connect with something that happened 5 min ago.
The violence level is not justified, Where in the world a mainstream film has a scene that the villain stabs through and through, a women and rapes her in a pool of blood?. It is not here and there it is all over, I don't know how desensitized the Telugu audience can be to take this, the assumption that cruelty has to be should shown with so much blood so novice. Eg. take the scores of Hollywood block busters like Mummy or Lord of rings.
80s years ago there was no kingdom that told it subjects to kill a person in cold blood in India. Feudal nostalgia at its best.
A film to be proud of does not come by amount of CG used, it should be by how well a story is told. This movie does not hit the mark.

At last after nearly 10 years I got to watch this movie. Normally I am not a person who watches horror movies but out of boredom I got to watch this movie. All characters food really well and for me I was impressed with the performance of Sonu Sood he just rocked it.I am gonna pray to God that I should sleep without any fear tonight
