I live in Montreal Canada and I like to try independent movies from different countries. I like to look beyond Hollywood and other Western films which I admit I do enjoy as well. I have to say this movie keep my interest.
The acting was decent, good to very good, depending on the actor. The characters they played were all different and I found the mix to be interesting. I really enjoyed the gang members, especially Mustafa and Biggie (Biggie's eyes in the movie alone were a real treat. He reminded me of Marty Feldman but with a more sinister look. That alone was a treat lol.
Overall you can just run with this movie and have fun. The script had a few small weak moments but nothing that threw me out of the movie. I loved the ending and didn't see it coming so that surprise was a big plus.
Great effort and it's nice to see Kenya producing a quality production. Congratulations to everyone involved in the making of this film! You can be proud of your effort. Thank you because as I was entertained.

Kenyans have made a real effort here, it's nice to see our stuff out there in the world. I'm sure that our main issue is a lack of budget and good training. I was able to make it to the end of the movie which doesn't happen with most netflix movies for me. I mean some things made no sense but we'll just let it slide for now as Kenya continues doing better for itself. I don't even watch any horror movies and this one didn't make me squirm(which is actually a good thing for me.) We still have a long way to go and I hope that we make it there to sell our talent to the world. We have great actors here. Otherwise it was a good effort.

So is it worth spending the one hour plus watching this movie? The simple.answer yes.
First of I was a bit impressed with the movie quality... The story line was also good.
My.lnly complaint is that there was missing a connection between me and the characters. I did.not really care for any of them. I did not care of they survived or not I just wanted to know the killer.
Maybe they could give us a deeper story where I would.be rooting for one of them.to survive.

Only good thing about it is the soundtrack. Plot is silly, props are cheap, unfinished editing, no logic (I hated myself for watching it to the end) and the worst ending ever. If they had gone with the supernatural theme it would have worked. The opening act was very well done, but nose-dived after the motor started running. For serious film lovers, this is very very bad.

I really wanted to like this movie, but the problems are inescapable. Firstly not enough character build up for me to care who lives or dies.Too many issues remind me of the acting, breathing corpses etc.The movie left me with more questions than answers. I give a 3.5 for effort.

To be honest the worst Kenyan movie I have ever watched. It was simply too painful to watch. There are so many wrong things with it- one wonders how it qualified to be on Netflix. The sound/visuals were good. Storyline forced. Only two settings. Kenya needs better screen writers. Nairobi Half Life should be on Netflix. Not this 💩!!

The ending was great. Didn't see that coming. A great effort. Got me at the edge of the seat.
Few issues but all productions have a few issues.
Africa has stories to tell.
There is no any creativity in this movie. Half of it is plagirized contents from a movie called 'Devil 2010'.
Also you could clearly see the dead men breathing heavily or blinking the eyes.

Based on the reviews I took a chance to watch this on Netflix, Glad I did, excellent plot twist, I would have never figured it out on my own.

It took me a while to figure out the matchbox angle. Had an amazing twist at the end. Not easy shooting in a small space.
They did so well.

I loooove this movie. The quality is amazing and as long as you are not going to compare it to Hollywood productions then you will definitely enjoy it.
This is a genre not tried in the country. Happy to see the industry rising.
Really enjoyed the movie.

I was impressed. I was Amused, tensed and intrigued for all the 95 mins or so.
Noticed they left a few plot holes maybe a sequel in the making????.
Welldone to the team.

The film blew me away!! Top notch production. The suspense and steady flow is everything. A must watch for all I must admit...and I'm a brutal film critic.
Great plot, great music, great plot twist. We really enjoyed watching this as a family!

40 Sticks has been on my List on Netflix since it came out but I never really got around to it. I finally watched it today. Good trial for a movie from Kenya. First of its genre for us and it really did make an effort. Biggie (Mwaura Bilal) was my favourite. He really gave life to the gangster character, as well as the fear when people started dying. He just has that type of face.
Edge of my seat suspenseful, gave me some good scares and first time ever in a book or movie that I haven't been able to predict the ending. Crazy plot twist.
There are some plot holes and some cringe lines. The killer could have done with some character build up for some likeability to make the ending more satisfying; but that might have made it predictable...
Overall score: 7/10. Gave it a 10/10 to upvote the really low scores.
