Much as I was determined to watch this on Rai1 last night, when it premiered, I couldn't make it till the end.
Sergio Castellito is a great actor, and both he and the others were doing fine in their shoes, but the script was below my expectations. For starters, the patients / footballers were portrayed in more of an aggressive manner than would help make the point. And there wasn't room for surprise as the side stories unfolded in very predictable fashion.
I might have missed some great crescento in the final act, but well, I believe the first 2/3 of a film should deliver the bulk of its premise.
The story had the spirit of Robin Williams films from the 90s, a tone in-between "Dead Poets Society" and "Good Will Hunting", maybe with a touch of "The Blind Side" or some other sports-related movie.
However, the fine touches did not look imaginative or interesting enough. I see that the early overall score on IMDb is over 6, which is a bit above how I evaluate the effort.
Could have been much more colorful, with more striking variations among the members of the team, and with better ties to actual symptoms of mental illnesses.
And preferably, more humor, even with examples of darker humor.
