Have you ever wondered about that musician or group that had a hot song or album, but then they disappeared from the spotlight? Ever wondered the causes of the disappearance? Then this is your show. A lot of sources can give you the early life bios and successes, but this show gives the details of what happens in those "dark years", the years after the music stops. And what caused the music to stop, whether it be studio politics and/or personal demons.
Also, the delight of this series is that it focuses on the talented, yet forgotten stars. Everyone knows the Luther Vandross, the Marvin Gaye, the Billie Holliday, and the Diana Ross. But what about Phyllis Hyman, Donny Hathaway, DeBarge, etc..., prepare yourself for some enlightening, entertaining, and at times saddening, moments while watching this.

Unsung provides great info on talented artists.
I desperately want them to do a segment on the GREAT RONNIE DYSON. He was one of the most talented male vocalists in the 70s, a Broadway genius!
We never see the show do stories on Black Rock Musicians such as Sound Barrier, Death and other who were the pioneers for musician like Living Color, Kings X etc. What exactly makes a an artist Unsung? I have watched several seasons and have always wonder does it make someone Unsung if you have heard of them before. It has been too bad and sad that most artist have to wait for their death to come to be recognized not only by the industry, but by society as a whole. It takes a few to open doors for others. Those are the true unsung artist. We all know of Hendrix, the Isleys, Funkadelic an Ed the likes. But Black artist have tapped on many other doors.
