Discovering the Soho Horror Film Festival in the final weeks of the event,I was pleased to learn that the event would be screening/streaming the short and feature film which had won the Audience Awards, this led to me getting into the bath.
View on the film:
Treating Ivan to some company as his babysitter ignore him, writer/director Ollivier Briand gives the creature that rises from out of the bubble bath a great practical effects sticky appearance, with close-ups on the creature as it bonds with Ivan, hinting at the monster waiting to pop out.
Snapping at Ivan due to placing her entire focus on continuing the phone call with her boyfriend whilst pretending to babysit, the screenplay by Briand playfully builds the horror on the disinterest of the babysitter, whose call ends on a killer set-piece, as the creature gets thrown out with the bathwater.
