I have bias towards anything thriller and crime movies, that even the bad ones would entertain me... And this movie did entertain me, despite being fully aware how awful it was. Each to their own I guess.

It has a very lifetime feel to it which isn't always a bad thing but this movie is slow, predictable and feels like it has been done 1000 times before and it has been done way better.

The acting wasn't horrible but it's definitely a bunch of B or even C list actors at best. There is no build up to things, it's just consistently slow. The bad guys don't seem bad or scary, the family are dull and their background story is just so run of the mill.

Overall it's something that you can just throw on for background noise vs actually sitting and paying attention to because the movie itself is not very entertaining. I gave it three stars because it's not the worst movie you will ever watch but you could definitely skip it and not have missed a thing!

Decent first few minutes where police helicopter and then everything we cheaper than your usual Netflix standards. This felt like you had just gone to Aldi and shopped at the reduced section. Terrible acting, directing and screenplay. Don't waste your energy leaving a comment because this site never shows it anyway.

The acting and production makes Hostage House feel like a Lifetime Original Movie. Netflix must really be trying to save money by buying up cheap amateur productions.

Worst film I've ever watched... acting is so bad. Total waste of my time.

I only kept watching so I could see how it ends. Bad stupid, script. Non-believable bad guys. This could have been good, but so unbelievably silly/dumb behavior by characters.

Horrible acting! Netflix is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Wow this was really bad.

And not in a good way, the acting was bad the decisions they make are terrible, its like the crew have told the actors/actresses to act like the dumbest criminals and victims on planet earth. If they broke into my house id end up laughing at them the whole time and id ask them to come back to do it again sometime.

I give it a very reasonable 2 and thats because the female criminal makes for good eye candy if nothing else.

Like a Lifetime movie,put onto Netflix for extra views.

What didn't help the quality value outside of many things,is the lead actress"has"been in Lifetime movies.

The overall storyline was dumb-seen better versions.

Bad actors chosen,acting amateurish & dreary cinematography.

Do better Netflix! .. I'm paying for things better than,standard cable channel productions.

A hard pass to watch again,or even as a recommendation to see.

My expectations were not high. But honestly I think it's not all that bad. Maybe not good, but not all bad.

There is a lot wrong with this movie, but focusing on the positives it did manage a few "moments", kept the tension, didn't drag on. Keith may have only had one expression 90% of the time but somehow that was actually part of the entertainment! One of those ones for when you're pretty tired and not wanting to think too much.

Look, this movie isn't some Oscar winning film but it's also not meant to be. This movie is beautifully shot, has a really fun story, and is acted well!

What I find so frustrating is people just love to bash if it's not filled with A-list actors and up for award noms. This movie is suspenseful, cheesy (in a good way!) and really keeps you gripped to the end. The mother and daughter dynamite is there and they truly look like they could be related (great casting) Natalie's and Keith's characters have a great chemistry together and the actress playing Natalie crushes it. The cop is great! The baby daddy is great, and the boss is great!

Yes, this movie is cheesy, but it's fun! I don't understand why people have to hate so much, relax.

Based on the reviews written, I think I am in the minority here. I really liked this film. I enjoyed the interactions between the mother and the male robber.

Acting Terrible Story predictably terrible Script terrible.

It's quite a good comedy because there are so many flaws to have good chuckle at!

I laughed at the other review I wish I saw that before picking this movie! Why do they make people so dumb, it makes me so angry. If you want to sit through and cringe every scene then be my guest. I don't know how they watched this back and thought it was worthy of screening.. its bad hahah.

Clearly these actors have not studied The Kominsky Method.

They are not even graduates from Summer Bay High.

But its not just the shoddy amateur acting its also the shoddy predictable script, direction etc.

Folks are dumb where they come from...so we get dumbed down made for TV movies instead of something worthy of the Big Screen.

I gave it one only because #IMDB won't let you post a zero score rating.

What the heck was Netflix thinking by adding this to the roster?

To think I could have been watching Aussies kick butt for Gold at the Olympics in Tokyo 2020 instead of investing time in this dogs breakfast.

If you have been scrolling through Netflix for the past hour for something to watch, give this film a try. The overall film is not that bad. It does have a few plot holes that were never addressed. It was still a decent film that did a good job providing an entertaining experience.

Production Quality: 8/10 (Very well filmed. Editing could use work.)

Sets and Location: 7/10 (Nice looking house. Could have seen more of the property they were talking about)

Actors: 9/10 (Actors did an amazing job with the material they were given)

Directing 6/10 (Directing was OK. Should have paid a little more attention to details that slipped through during the editing process.)

Overall: 7/10

This film will give you a decent viewing experience if you are not overly critical of the story line that unfolds and you just sit back and enjoy the experience.

With laughably bad acting and dialogue, a ridiculous yet needlessly convoluted plot, no real suspense, non-existent direction, poor musical score, and bad production values makes Hostage House another horrible TV movie that should be avoided at all costs.

Came across this on Netflix and I thought it was fun! I think people are a little too critical lol, it wasn't nearly as bad as some people are saying. Honestly, if you just get in the mindset of "this is going to be silly but fun" I can bet you'll enjoy yourself. It's a quick hour and a half, don't take it too seriously.

The acting had really great moments, a few cringe moments, and a specific heartbreaking moment, but overall I thought it was fun. No need to bash so hard on it.

Now I am not saying it's a great movie but definitely not worth 1 rating which some stupid Trolls here are rating this one. What gutter do these trolls come from is beyond me.

This movie has a definite made for TV feel , it's not the best but it isn't a bore either. Thankfully we have some decent actors and not a Woke Culture acting cast here which has been a trend lately, no Social Commentary that's a positive & Jennifer Taylor from Two and A Half Men is here and she can act besides looking🔥

A decent Home Invasion movie , which could've been slightly better but definitely not a trashy one.

Definitely a straight to TV film- not all are bad. This one was better than some. However, the acting was a bit rubbish, the female bad guy was just awful. The decisions made throughout the film were stupid, and the reactions were just as bad. Still, I watched to the end.
