The upcoming horror film Séance: The Summoning will be haunting DVD, Digital Download, and On Demand on October 2, 2012. Check out the trailer below the official details.

The film stars Bobby Campo, Nazneen Contractor, Chris Olivero, and introducing Devon Ogden.

Seance: The Summoning Synopsis

Four friends decide to break into the city morgue and record themselves holding a séance after Joey (Campo) accuses the other of being a fake psychic medium. When the group summons a demon by mistake, Joey breaks the circle of protection and causes himself to be vulnerable. Once possessed they will have to find a way to drive the demon out of their friend before it destroys them all.

Katie Cassidy tweeted a picture recently from the set of the new horror flick The Scribbler in character as Suki, and we have it right here next to an image of the original graphic novel character. Cassidy cut her hair and added piercings for the role. God love her!

This comes after The CW announced they would be picking up "Arrow" based on the DC comic book series Green Arrow, in which Cassidy stars as Dinah Lance, who later becomes Black Canary.

In other Scribbler news, Richard Riehle (Office Space), Brad Culver (Growth), Luke Barnett (Sedona) and an English bulldog named Sir Hollywood have all been seen on set playing supporting roles. Deadline reports that Katie Cassidy (Supernatural, Taken) , picture center above, has signed on to topline in the film about “Suki, a young woman confronting her destructive mental illness using “The Siamese Burn,” an experimental machine designed to eliminate multiple personalities. The closer Suki comes to being “cured,” she’s haunted by a thought… what if the last unwanted identity turns out to be her?”

Filming on Dan Schaffer’s graphic novel The Scribbler begins later this week in Los Angeles for a live action theatrical film release.

Schaffer’s graphic novel was originally published in 2006 by Image Comics. A new “director’s cut” of the graphic novel is being prepared by the recently re-launched First Comics™ for release in conjunction with the film’s opening. Schaffer penned the screenplay adapted from his graphic novel.

The thriller centers on Suki, a young woman confined in a mental institution and being treated with an experimental machine dubbed “The Siamese Burn, designed to eliminate multiple personalities. As the “treatment” progresses, Suki starts to be haunted by the realization that if “The Siamese Burn” is successful, which one of her personalities will be the survivor?

An all star horror cast including Danielle Harris (Hatchet II), Brain Krause (Charmed), Lance Henriksen (Pumpkinhead) and Tiffany Shepis (Night of the Demons) star in the disturbing serial killer themed horror film Cyrus: Mind of a Serial Killer. Just today, Anchor Bay Entertainment announced that the street date of the film had been postponed. Reasons as to the delay are unclear at this time. However, don't worry! The delay is only for a month. And that doesn't change the specifications of the DVD.

We’ve seen a few different musicians take their turn as directors in the horror genre including Rob Zombie and Dee Snider. Well, it’s time to make room for a relative newcomer to our beloved genre - Gabriel Cowan. Cowan, who enjoyed a successful career as a musician, is now making his mark in the industry with his recently released body horror flick, Growth.

In its third week of release, Growth is ranked #2 on the iTunes horror genre chart amidst solid films like The Crazies, Daybreakers and Let the Right One In.

Even though Cowan touts himself an indie kind of guy, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t enjoyed a slew of success in the entertainment industry before becoming a filmmaker. In high school his band Comfort Station was featured on MTV as one of Los Angeles' fastest up-and-coming bands, and at the age of 18 Cowan was hired...

Gabriel Cowan is the founder of New Artists Alliance, the production company behind Growth. New Artists Alliance provides funding for up to three low budget films per year. The goal is to support and empower young emerging filmmakers. They have an advisory committee that consists of some of the most talented filmmakers in Hollywood. They help the emerging artists develop their scripts and plan for shooting. We search for emerging students from CalArts, UCLA, USC, AFI, Loyola, and Chapman. Working with young talented filmmakers is both inspirational and personally fulfilling. Gabriel directed over two dozen short films for Big Pictures. He also co-wrote, and co-directed a feature film which recently sold worldwide, is wrapping post production on his second and third feature films. Currently he is finishing the editing on a documentary he directed on reconciliation and forgiveness in post genocide Rwanda called Flower in the Gun Barrel. Martin Sheen is narrating.

What young actress would turn down the chance to star in a horror movie that's best described as Pretty in Pink (1986) meets Carrie (1976) meets Prom Night (1980) meets Cabin Fever (2002)? Certainly not Alexi Wasser. We've reported on Gabriel Cowan's gooey, Slither inspired new horror film, Growth, before, but now that the director himself has just passed along the film's first official trailer we thought we'd share it with you guys. After watching it the film definitely feels like a winner. It's Full of some simply stunning special FX work that easily competes with larger productions.

Gabe also told us a bit about what he and his team put into the film to make sure it was an amazing visual experience. Shot on the Red One, it has over a hundred VFX shots, aerial shots, and underwater sequences. They even did some crazy stuff like shooting a sequence in Korea remotely from Los Angeles. According to Gabe, "we had a high definition feed to our computer, and our laptop had Skype and Google video working for us to communicate with the crew, director of photography and the actors.

Don't worry! Luckily it's nothing we are going to have to lance ourselves! Instead we speak of Lionsgate UK's sci-fi thriller that is looking to send more than a few gross-out induced shivers up and down your spine.

Director Gabriel Cowan dropped us a note today to let us know that the official trailer for his latest film Growth is up online - as are the first few minutes of the film.

According to Cowan this experience was pretty unique. "We shot on the Red One and have over a hundred VFX shots," Gabe tells DC. "Perhaps even more exciting, we shot an entire scene in Korea remotely from Los Angeles. We had a high definition feed to our computer, and our laptop had Skype and Google video working for us to communicate with the crew, director of photography and the actors. It was an incredible experience!"

So how did it all turn out?...

Because we can never get enough Giger-inspired artwork: this is the new one-sheet for Gabriel Cowan’s sci-fi thriller “Growth”.

Well, the poster looks tasty. Gabriel is a musician-turned-director who was responsible for last year’s thriller “Breathing Room”, and here he is directing his own script. Mircea Monroe (who will also be in the upcoming “Tekken” movie) stars.

The release date is unknown (or at least undisclosed) as of yet.

Norman Reedus (Blade II), Claire Holt, Richard Riehle (Growth, Red), Matthew McNulty, Heather Stephens, Darcy Fowers ("Dexter") and Kalina Green all have joined the cast of Sony Home Entertainment's Messengers II: The Scarewcrow, which is directed by Martin Barnewitz. This prequel goes back to the farm from the first film to finally learn the story of John Rollins the simple North Dakota farmer, struggling to save his farm and hold his family together. When he places a mysterious scarecrow in his field his luck changes for the better but it may be at the cost of his sanity. The film was produced by Ghost House Pictures.

There, they uncover the key to Jamie's disturbing past, and have to fight a new strain of parasite that has emerged, to threaten the island once again.
