Life Is Beautiful is unique in that it doesn’t take place in a large field or a city park, but smack dab in the middle of Vegas’ eclectic downtown, turning parking lots into disco rooms, hotels into art exhibits, and swaths of streets into stage areas. U2 has announced the initial dates for their upcoming residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The set of performances will begin on September 29.

These dates are the band’s first series of live shows in four years.

Drummer Larry Mullen Jr. will not be playing with the band to undergo and recover from surgery. Bram van den Berg will take over in his place.

The Sphere is a new $1.8 billion, 20,000-seat venue. It houses 580,000 square feet of LED paneling, 170,000 directional speakers and a haptic floor system. You can see the band take a tour of the facility below.

The ongoing trend of hurling objects on stage at musicians during concerts seems to be getting stranger. Lil Nas X managed to avoid injury with some quick reflexes.
