A truly beautiful film for people who can appreciate subtlety, originality, and a whole lot of breathtaking imagery.
The movie is shot in the Oregon desert and really uses the wide, expansive vistas beautifully to mimic the voids between the characters. I don't always love black & white films, but I felt it really worked well here with all the texture of the lands.
The story works in a subtle way, and sat with me for a long time after watching. I'd argue it takes a more masterful hand to exercise the restraint shown in the movie, rather than hitting the audience over the head with obvious theme after theme.
I'd particularly recommend for anyone who has ever had a father.
